Troy Ave (born: Roland Collins) appeared in criminal court in Manhattan Monday and pleaded not guilty to an attempted murder charge linked to the deadly shooting at Irving Plaza last Wednesday (May 25). During the hearing, Troy's lawyer, Scott Leemon, also claimed the Brooklyn rapper was a victim in the incident, according to New York Daily News.
"What really happened here is Mr. Collins here is the real victim,” Leemon said. He also claimed Ronald "BSBBanga" McPhatter, a former member of Troy's entourage who was killed that night, was not shot by Troy. “The person who was killed at this event, he died a hero. He (McPhatter) was his bodyguard. He wasn't shot by Mr. Collins. He was a lifelong friend."
Leemon has a long history of defending rappers in legal proceedings, most notably 50 Cent and Jim Jones, the latter of which has used the ad-lib "leeemon" in several instances.

The rapper T.I. was about to headline a concert at the club in the Union Square area when shots rang out around 10:15 p.m., witnesses and the police said.

Ayo Fagbemi, 21, a University of Pennsylvania student, said T.I.’s D.J. was playing songs to warm up the crowd for the rapper.
At least Three People Shot During T.I. Concert At Irving Plaza - The Breakfast Club
“Right when he was about to go on I heard two gunshots, and right after there was a stampede,” Mr. Fagbemi said. “There were at least three rounds, but after the second one was when people started running.”

Shots rang out at a T.I. concert Wednesday night ... multiple people were hit and one is dead.
The rapper was set to perform at Irving Plaza in NYC Wednesday night when the shooting occurred. We're told at least 2 men and 2 women were hit. A 33-year-old man who was shot in the stomach didn't make it.
The rapper had not yet taken the stage when the incident went down. Sources backstage tell us an argument erupted just before one of the opening acts took the stage. Someone brandished a gun and people backstage scrambled into the crowd as shots rang out.
Cops say at this point it's unclear how many shooters were involved and they don't have any suspects.

Shots rang out at a T.I. concert Wednesday night ... multiple people were hit and one is dead.
The rapper was set to perform at Irving Plaza in NYC Wednesday night when the shooting occurred. We're told at least 2 men and 2 women were hit. A 33-year-old man who was shot in the stomach didn't make it.
The rapper had not yet taken the stage when the incident went down. Sources backstage tell us an argument erupted just before one of the opening acts took the stage. Someone brandished a gun and people backstage scrambled into the crowd as shots rang out.
Cops say at this point it's unclear how many shooters were involved and they don't have any suspects.
