Filmed on location in Geneva, Switzerland The Light -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Gen 1:3 (NIV) And God said, "Let there be light," and there was light. Gen 3:8 (NIV) Then the man and his wife heard the sound of the Lord God as he was walking in the garden in the cool of the day, and they hid from the Lord God among the trees of the garden. Dallas Willard states: "Almost all evil deeds and intents are begun with the thought that they can be hidden by deceit." The kingdom of evil is built on lies, secrets, and darkness. It requires the absence of light to survive. Thus, for all it's fearsome appearance, the kingdom of evil is structurally very weak. Turn on the light, and the cockroaches scramble to go under the refrigerator. An example of this is the Catholic pedophilia scandal. All the evil committed could have only occurred by the collusion of dozens of participants "keeping the secret". One crack in the system brought the whole thing into the light. Pull one string, and the whole unravels. Sin Grows In The Dark Job 24:13,15,17 (NIV) "There are those who rebel against the light, who do not know its ways or stay in its paths... The eye of the adulterer watches for dusk; he thinks, 'No eye will see me,' and he keeps his face concealed... For all of them, deep darkness is their morning; they make friends with the terrors of darkness." Isa 28:15 (NIV) You boast, "... for we have made a lie our refuge, and falsehood our hiding place." Ps 139:7,11-12 (NIV) Where can I go from your Spirit? Where can I flee from your presence? If I say, "Surely the darkness will hide me..." the night will shine like day.... Jer 23:24 (NIV) "Can anyone hide in the secret places so that I cannot see him?" declares the Lord. "Do I not fill heaven and earth?" declares the Lord. Jer 16:17 (NIV) "My eyes are on all their ways; they are not hidden from me, nor is their sin concealed from my eyes." Light As Judgment The same light that makes plants grow hardens clay. The light is the same, but the response is completely different. John 3:19-21 (Phi) "This is the judgment: that light has entered the world, and men have preferred darkness to light because their deeds were evil. Everybody who does wrong hates the light and keeps away from it, for fear his deeds may be exposed. But everybody who is living by the truth will come to the light to make it plain that all he has done has been done through God." Secrets Are Temporary, You Can Count On The Light Mat 10:26-27 (NIV) "There is nothing concealed that will not be disclosed, or hidden that will not be made known. What I tell you in the dark, speak in the daylight; what is whispered in your ear, proclaim from the housetops." Mark 4:22 (Jer) "For there is nothing hidden but it must be disclosed, nothing kept secret except to be brought to light." The First Work Of The Holy Spirit John 16:7b-9,12-13a (Phi) "For if I did not go away, the divine Helper would not come to you. But if I go, then I will send him to you. When he comes, he will convince the world of the meaning of sin, of true goodness, and of judgment. He will expose their sin because they do not believe in me."... "I have much more to tell you but you cannot bear it now. Yet, when that one I have spoken of comes--the Spirit of truth--he will guide you into everything that is true." Ps 69:5 (NIV) You know my folly, O God; my guilt is not hidden from you. James 5:16 (Phi) You should get in the habit of admitting your sins to each other and praying for each other, so that you may be healed.... The temptation is rather to reject the pain of conscience, the pain of the realization of our own sinfulness and imperfection. It seems better to just endure the pain of sin and avoid the light, the light of goodness that shows us up, the light of scrutiny that exposes us, the light of truth that penetrates our deception. So, we confess our sins to God in secret and ask for His forgiveness. And He will forgive us, but we will likely go out and do the same again in the vicious cycle of sin. For, in fact, we need more than forgiveness; we need healing. God's word is very clear as to what is needed if we wish to really break free. James 5:16 (NAS) Therefore, confess your sins to one another and pray for one another, so that you may be healed. James 5:16b (Wey) ... so that you may be cured.

Calvinism is a school of systematic theology that emphasizes the sovereignty of God, who through the doctrine of predestination, has ordained an Elect to join Him in the Kingdom of Heaven. In addition to introducing the foundations of Calvinist theology, I outline the "Five Points" of Calvinism (Total Depravity, Unconditional Election, Limited Atonement, Irresistible Grace, and Perseverance of the Saints) and talk about Calvinist iconoclasm and clothing. This video is intended primarily for European History students seeking to understand the basics of Calvinist theology in order to better understand the Protestant Reformation. I am a historian - not a theologian - and I am explaining the basics to students who have a casual scholarly interest in the subject. I am neither trying to prove nor to disprove the validity of Calvinist theology - just to inform people about the basic tenets in as informative and entertaining of a way as possible. It is not my intention to ignite a religious debate, although I understand that this is often a consequence when posting videos about theology.

The local bishop employed Calvin's father as an administrator in the town's cathedral. The father, in turn, wanted John to become a priest. Because of close ties with the bishop and his noble family, John's playmates and classmates in Noyon (and later in Paris) were aristocratic and culturally influential in his early life. At the age of 14 Calvin went to Paris to study at the College de Marche in preparation for university study. His studies consisted of seven subjects: grammar, rhetoric, logic, arithmetic, geometry, astronomy, and music. Toward the end of 1523 Calvin transferred to the more famous College Montaigu. While in Paris he changed his name to its Latin form, Ioannis Calvinus, which in French became Jean Calvin. During this time, Calvin's education was paid for in part by income from a couple of small parishes. So although the new theological teachings of individuals like Luther and Jacques Lefevre d'Etaples were spreading throughout Paris, Calvin was closely tied to the Roman Church. However, by 1527 Calvin had developed friendships with individuals who were reform-minded. These contacts set the stage for Calvin's eventual switch to the Reformed faith. Also, at this time Calvin's father advised him to study law rather than theology. By 1528 Calvin moved to Orleans to study civil law. The following years found Calvin studying in various places and under various scholars, as he received a humanist education. By 1532 Calvin finished his law studies and also published his first book, a commentary on De Clementia by the Roman philosopher, Seneca. The following year Calvin fled Paris because of contacts with individuals who through lectures and writings opposed the Roman Catholic Church. It is thought that in 1533 Calvin experienced the sudden and unexpected conversion that he writes about in his foreword to his commentary on the Psalms. For the next three years, Calvin lived in various places outside of France under various names. He studied on his own, preached, and began work on his first edition of the Institutes of the Christian Religion, an instant best seller. By 1536 Calvin had disengaged himself from the Roman Catholic Church and made plans to permanently leave France and go to Strasbourg. However, war had broken out between Francis I and Charles V, so Calvin decided to make a one-night detour to Geneva. But Calvin's fame in Geneva preceded him. Farel, a local reformer, invited him to stay in Geneva and threatened him with God's anger if he did not. Thus began a long, difficult, yet ultimately fruitful relationship with that city. He began as a lecturer and preacher, but by 1538 was asked to leave because of theological conflicts. He went to Strasbourg until 1541. His stay there as a pastor to French refugees was so peaceful and happy that when in 1541 the Council of Geneva requested that he return to Geneva, he was emotionally torn. He wanted to stay in Strasbourg but felt a responsibility to return to Geneva. He did so and remained in Geneva until his death May 27, 1564. Movie Synopsis Lt. Col. Bill Cage is an officer who has never seen a day of combat when he is unceremoniously demoted and then dropped untrained and ill-equipped into what amounts to little more than a suicide mission. Cage is killed within minutes, managing to take an Alpha down with him. But, impossibly, he awakens back at the beginning of the same hellish day, and is forced to fight and die again and again. Direct physical contact with the alien has thrown him into a time loop dooming him to live out the same brutal combat over and over. But with each pass, Cage becomes tougher, smarter, and able to engage the Mimics with increasing skill, alongside Special Forces warrior Rita Vrataski, who has lain waste to more Mimics than anyone on Earth. As Cage and Rita take the fight to the aliens, each repeated battle becomes an opportunity to find the key to annihilating the alien invaders and saving the Earth. Enjoy :) Personally I do not agree with 100% of the movie, however it does do justice in many things. For the most part the Reformation was a good movement, although it's too bad that they held to Augustine's (a catholic) heretical teachings of gnosticism (rejecting free-will) which were passed down to John Calvin, Martin Luther, and other reformers. It's too bad that they couldn't reform from Augustine's heresies. When it gives Calvin credit, know that he was a heretic and a murderer who burns in hell.
