111,060 Hallway Design Photos

Even though hallways are primarily pathways between rooms, they can be so much more if designed well. Despite being a rather small space, the range of hallway decorating ideas is surprisingly big; adding built-in bookcases or shelves to display books or interesting knickknacks is just the tip of the iceberg. A photo wall collage can turn it into a daily reminder of good times with those you love, while some well-picked artwork can transform it into a gallery. With a little effort and some strategically placed decor, your hall interior can easily enhance your entire home’s aesthetic and style. More

How do I add storage to my hallway?

If you have a small home, utilizing the hall as extra storage is a great way to save much-needed space. When planning out your hallway storage make sure to avoid narrowing an already narrow space. Instead, think about how you can take advantage of the vertical surface of the walls. Avoid using full-sized furniture and try to incorporate built-in bookcases and skinny console tables to house your library and collectibles. Also, consider adding narrow shelves on the wall for - just make sure they don't cut into your walking space since that is the hallways prime functionality!

How do I incorporate hallway decor?

Your hallway decor should not overwhelm such a small space, but instead enhance it and complement the house’s interior. If you want to display a photo collection, group frames in odd numbers, like three or five pieces, and vary the heights to add interest. You can use shadow boxes and art shelves to display quirky small accessories in your hallway, but try to rotate them out occasionally to keep in fresh and interesting. Wall space is key, but don't forget about your ceilings and floors as well. Ceiling lights, chandeliers or wall sconces can act as additional decor, while runner rugs are a quick, easy way to add color and pattern to a traditionally all-neutral space.
