Actions have always spoken louder than words for interview-shy Beyonce Knowles, and showing up at one of the most photographed nights of the year without husband Jay Z, who she lambasted for cheating in Lemonade, suggests he's still in the doghouse.

Despite Sean Carter being a usual fixture on Bey's arm at Anna Wintour's party of the year - the Met Gala, Queen Bey this time walked the Metropolitan Museum of Art's famous steps solo, making sure all eyes were on her in a peach latex, embellished creation by Givenchy.

She clung to a matching clutch, rather than the rapper, for her first red carpet appearance since the atomic bomb that she dubbed Lemonade dropped on April 23 and confirmed long-standing rumours that all was not well in the Carter family's marriage of eight years.

"Did Beyoncé put Jay Z in a time-out for the Met Gala," one fan wrote.

Another added: "Someone check on Jay Z. Beyoncé's at the Met Gala alone and looking a little too happy."

"If this what you truly want. I can wear her skin over mine. Her hair, over mine, her hands as gloves, her teeth as confetti, her scalp a cap, her sternum, my bedazzled cane. We can pose for a photograph, all three of us, immortalised," Mrs Carter sang.

Serving as a reminder to Jay Z that he "ain't married to no average bitch boy".

Despite everyone losing their collective minds and wondering if the album was her way of saying "I want a divorce", she took to the stage on the opening night of her Formation tour in Miami last week, to pay tribute to her "beautiful husband" and dedicated Halo to him.

Of course, the Met Gala 2014 is when that infamous elevator fight went down between Solange Knowles and Jay Z, but despite that drama, Kanye West's BFF rocked up last year on his wife's arm and looked at her adoringly as she climbed the stairs in a sheer Givenchy number.

Solange is also at the $32,000-a-ticket gala rocking a canary yellow disc piece and matching thigh-highs by David LaPort , so at least she has back-up in case Ora (wearing a grey feather Vera Wang gown) tries to make a beeline for her.
