I’ve always had a passion for children from a very young age, I started babysitting as soon as I was legally allowed to at 15years old for two regular families which lasted for 3 years. During those years I realised the childcare industry would be my career of choice, more so the personal one on one, which meant becoming a professional nanny. In this role I did a variety of tasks including the support of a 9 year old boy with cerebral palsy and autism.

During the Summer of 2014 I child-minded an 11 year old girl, which included picking up from school, entertaining and cooking dinner.
April-September 2015 I was a nanny for a 7 year old boy and his 5 year old sister which included picking up from school, taking to after school activities, entertaining preparing dinner and bathing. During the Summer holidays I worked 10 hour days where I would take the children on walks, arrange playdates, trampolining and much more!

I am currently nannying a 4 year old girl since October 2015 which will sadly come to an end when I leave to visit some family in California late March. This role includes taking to school in the mornings and picking her up in the afternoons and looking after until parents get home from work.

I worked as a care-taker of elderly people for 5,5 years in the Netherlands, before I came to Australia in 2015. Next to that I studdied 1 year of Bachelor of Nursing and 2 years of midwifery (both were combined into one study), but I unfortunately didn't finish this study. Although I didn't finish it, I have still got the knowledge of three years of studying and the internships that I attended on the marternity floor of different hospitals, learning everything about the care of newborn babies.

After the prevous called study I studdied Pedagogiek (my translation would be Child Development, I also learned about special needs children) or as the English translation says, Education, which gave me my Bachelor Degree in Social Work. For this study I had to do different internships of which one I did for six months in South-Africa with special needs children and primary school children.

My personal preference is working with toddlers children up to 4 years old, but I like working with older children as well. I am looking for a full-time job, either live in or live-out, with occasional babysitting in the evenings or weekends. Easter and summer holidays 2012 and 2013 - I was a manager of a children's holiday camp during the holidays. This meant I had to set up the camp each holiday, train the new staff, and run the camp over the whole period. I worked with mainly the early year’s children as I had a deputy manager with the older children however I was often with them also during busy periods. I had to ensure every child was cared for a safe but also enjoying their time at camp. As camp manager I was responsible for each and every child at camp, including safety and wellbeing, but also making sure each and every child was catered for while my team and I were creating the schedule for the day, considering age and ability as just a few of the factors. This job was challenging however I really enjoyed having the responsibility and working alongside my team to create a fun environment for the children to spend time at during they’re school holidays.

I gained experience with children aged 24 months to three, however I moved around when needed. I carried out all the nursery duties and worked as a team member within my room to ensure all needs were met for the children each day. I volunteered here for a year with the children aged 4 – 7 to gain experience while at university. Each child had a different complex special need and I worked together with my team to create an inclusive environment for each individual child no matter what the activity was and ensure meal times were done correctly and each child’s personal hygiene were cared for to the best standard possible. We often had a one child to one adult radio which meant you had the responsibility on that day of creating an enjoyable but stimulating setting for your ‘buddy’ child, and making sure all their personal exercises and medicine were taken care of.
