Carla Zampatti's spring-summer is on song.

The designer showcased a collection inspired by music in her palatial home on Thursday – as an entree to Fashion Week Australia, which kicks off in Sydney next month.

The spirit of Bowie was in the air as tasselled dresses and pants, as well as jumpsuits with capes and cut-outs, wandered through her eastern suburbs mansion. Metallic-coloured bandeau tops and dresses split to the thigh were a nod to Taylor Swift and her latest accessory du jour – the choker.

Delta Goodrem was a surprise addition and closed the show wearing an ethereal white and gold chantilly lace gown, looking every inch the manic pixie dream girl from a good home.

Some looks were a high-end mash up of Woodstock meets Woollahra thanks to striped silk flares, sheer pants and pale denim numbers, including a floor-length skirt with fishtail train and a fitted jacket with frayed hems.

Guests including broadcaster Alan Jones, philanthropist Ros Packer and breakfast TV stars Samantha Armytage and Sylvia Jeffreys lapped up the looks. Ten news presenter Natarsha Belling was front row and looking forward to donning Zampatti at the Logies next weekend.

"I'm so honoured that she will be dressing me. My dress is from this collection," she said.

Kerri-Anne Kennerley made her first public appearance since her husband John's accident earlier this year, leaving him with a broken neck.

"It's a bit like my first day at school," Kennerley said.

"He's doing well. He's in the gym today working on his legs. We just have to keep positive."
