Evangelicalism, Evangelical Christianity, or Evangelical Protestantism is a worldwide, transdenominational movement within Protestant Christianity maintaining that the essence of the gospel consists in the doctrine of salvation by grace through faith in Jesus Christ's atonement. Evangelicals believe in the centrality of the conversion or "born again" experience in receiving salvation, in the authority of the Bible as God's revelation to humanity, and spreading the Christian message.
It gained great momentum in the 18th and 19th centuries with the Great Awakenings in the United Kingdom and North America. The origins of Evangelicalism are usually traced back to English Methodism, the Moravian Church (in particular the theology of its bishop Nicolaus Zinzendorf), and German Lutheran Pietism. Today, Evangelicals may be found in many of the Protestant branches, as well as in Protestant denominations not subsumed to a specific branch. Among leaders and major figures of the Evangelical Protestant movement were John Wesley, George Whitefield, Jonathan Edwards, Billy Graham, Harold John Ockenga, John Stott and Martyn Lloyd-Jones.

Protestantism The Evangelical Explosion (Documentary)- Diarmaid MacCulloch traces the growth of an exuberant expression of faith that has spread across the globe - Evangelical Protestantism. Today, it is associated with conservative politics, but the whole story is distinctly more unexpected. It is easily forgotten that the evangelical explosion has been driven by a concern for social justice and the claim that one could stand in a direct emotional relationship with God. It allowed the Protestant faith to burst its boundaries from its homeland in Europe. In America, its preachers marketed Christianity with all the flair and swashbuckling enterprise of American commerce. In Africa, it converted much of the continent by adapting to local traditions, and now it is expanding into Asia. But i...

Our guest Frank Schaeffer refers to himself as a “survivor” of a strict evangelical household. The son of prominent evangelical pastor Francis Schaeffer, Frank speaks openly about the flaws and contradictions he recognized behind the scenes. In this conversation with Barnet and Freeman, Frank explores complexity and embraces paradox as a greater truth than the over-simplified answers that came out of the Christian dogma that he grew up with. Why do Evangelical Christians Support Donald Trump? Hemant Mehta (http://www.friendlyatheist.com, http://www.patreon.com/Hemant , https://www.facebook.com/friendlyatheist) There are plenty of reasons to not like Donald Trump if you're a liberal like I am, but I'm especially confused by the fact that he has so much support in evangelical circles. Here's just a brief rundown of what he's done in terms of religion recently: -- He said he doesn't ask God for forgiveness if he makes a mistake. He just tries to fix the problem himself. I love that answer as an atheist, but if you're Christian, asking God for forgiveness is a big deal! -- He atoned for that comment by saying he always eats the "little cracker" as if that should count for something. I mean, he called a communion wafer a "li...

Why Are so Many Evangelical Christian Leaders Caught in Scandals? Does Satan Tempt and Attack Christian Leaders More Than 'Ordinary' Christians? First, it is important to point out that “so many” is not an accurate characterization. It may seem like many evangelical Christian leaders are caught in scandals, but this is due to the vast amount of attention such scandals are given. There are thousands of evangelical Christian leaders, pastors, professors, missionaries, writers, and evangelists who have never participated in anything “scandalous.” The vast majority of evangelical Christian leaders are men and women who love God, are faithful to their spouses and families, and handle their activities with the utmost honesty and integrity. The failures of a few should not be used to attack the ...
Some funny. Some sad. A modest representation of the more insane things Christians say. Hold on tight folks... What clip was most significant to you? If you wish to see any of the full clips just message me with a time stamp. Enjoy. If anything was learned during the making of this video, it is that one can never have enough Benny Hinn.
A look at how George Bush's conversion to evangelical Christianity would prove politically important during both his father's 1988 Presidential campaign, and, his own Presidential campaign (and policy making, as President). From 2004, directed by Raney Aronson. On a personal note: I am not a person who is conventionally religious, and, I am disturbed by the trend in American politics that a significant percentage of the the electorate will simply vote for the candidate who they perceive to be the "most religious" (or the "most Christian). I hope that you find the video interesting, and, illuminating. I also hope that the Unites States, in the future, endeavors to keep religion and politics separate - as was intended by the founders of this country.

Take a look at most secular arguments against christianity; half of the objective content they mention is from the OT; as in, the part of the bible originally penned by Judaists.
