Director B.J. Harring comments: "When setting out to do this project, I felt we had to do "The Funerary Dirge of a Violinist" because the piece had a soul. I have a very personal connection to the casualties of war having lost a family member in Afghanistan and wanted to explore what I believe these soldiers experience while serving on the front lines, which is what the piece is all about. The story of the violinist in particular, his frailty in the face of suffering and death, which ultimately leads to his undoing, is one that I feel everyone can connect to. The paranormal connection at the end of the piece was then meant to serve as a sort of bow to tie the story together as well as bring everything back home to Carach Angren and what they represent. The band was meant to appear in the piece from the beginning but we realized quickly that the piece could stand on its own strictly on the power of their words and musicality which goes back to the thought that they put into each song that they craft. It was a tough shoot logistically, utilizing a small but very talented crew who all bought into the heart of the story and who understood the gravity of the story we were trying to tell. We knew that the only way to make this piece convincing was that everything had to be authentic, so everything we used, from the guns and uniforms to the pyro and effects, was real. To see how thick the smoke is and how close we were able to stage the effects, you become transported back and are suddenly able to grasp and understand the stakes of what these soldiers are experiencing. We tried to be honest with the piece while still staying true to the band and I believe we encompassed enough horror and shock and emotion that everyone will be pleased."

Finally, after months of not-so-hard work and unholy procrastination, the first Carach Angren videoclip for the track "The Sighting is a Portent of Doom" from the 2010 album "Death came through a Phantom Ship" has appeared from that place between life and the lifeless void...
Shot over a period of about six months by Carach Angren and Erik Wijnands/Negakinu Photography on different locations (some lost forever as we speak). The dedication and creative view of Erik Wijnands combined with everything that Carach Angren represents, materialised into those few minutes of footage you now see before you. Take this for what it is: a glimpse into the haunting rituals of Carach Angren, a new chapter for the band and a promise of things to come!

Carach Angren
Carach Angren (/ˈkɑːrɑːk ˈɑːnɡrɛn/ KAH-rahk AHN-gren) is a symphonic black metal band from the Netherlands, formed by two members of the now-defunct bands Inger Indolia and Vaultage. They have three steady members with previously frequent guest appearances for the violin parts. Their style is characterized by prominent use of orchestral arrangements. All of their studio albums are concept albums with lyrics based on ghost stories and folk lore, such as Flying Dutchman. They set themselves apart from other symphonic black metal artists in showcasing songs often using multiple languages apart from English, such as French, German and Dutch, though every song does use English as a baseline and certain choruses or sections will make the transition.
The name means "Iron Jaws" in the Elvish language of Sindarin, and is the name of a fortified pass into North-Western Mordor in J. R. R. Tolkien's The Lord of the Rings.
History
Carach Angren was formed in 2003 in the Dutch municipality of Landgraaf, after two members of Vaultage and Inger Indolia started a side project, due to their shared love of both legends and black metal. It seemed to go well, so Vaultage stepped down and Carach Angren "was ready for bigger steps".

Season of Mist
Season of Mist is an independent record label and record distributor with subsidiaries in France and the United States. The record label was founded in 1996 by Michael S. Berberian in Marseille, France. From the start releasing black metal, pagan metal and death metal records, the label moved on to releasing albums of avant-garde metal, gothic metal and punk bands as well. The label has two offices, one in Marseille, France and one in Philadelphia, U.S..
Music
From the beginning, Season of Mist focused on releasing more extreme metal records by stylistically diverse bands like Oxiplegatz, Bethzaida and Kampfar. With the signing of Norwegian legends Mayhem in 1999 the label's profile clearly shifted towards black metal and attracted internationally renowned artists like Carpathian Forest, Rotting Christ, Arcturus and Solefald, with the latter two representing a marked progressive and avant-garde side to Season of Mist.
While staying close to its black metal roots with the creation of the Season of Mist Underground Activists division in 2007, the label widened its musical range and added to its black, death, doom (Saint Vitus) and thrash metal roster bands playing progressive death metal (Morbid Angel, Cynic, Atheist, Gnostic, Gonin-ish), sludge (Kylesa, Outlaw Order), industrial metal (Genitorturers, The CNK, Punish Yourself), hard rock (Ace Frehley), gothic rock (Christian Death), mathcore (The Dillinger Escape Plan, Psykup), garage rock (1969 Was Fine), modern metal (Dagoba, Eths, Trepalium, Black Comedy) and metalcore (Eyeless, The Arrs).

I have a very personal connection to the casualties of war having lost a family member in Afghanistan and wanted to explore what I believe these soldiers experience while serving on the front lines, which is what the piece is all about. The story of the violinist in particular, his frailty in the face of suffering and death, which ultimately leads to his undoing, is one that I feel everyone can connect to. The paranormal connection at the end of the piece was then meant to serve as a sort of bow to tie the story together as well as bring everything back home to Carach Angren and what they represent. The band was meant to appear in the piece from the beginning but we realized quickly that the piece could stand on its own strictly on the power of their words and musicality which goes back to the thought that they put into each song that they craft. It was a tough shoot logistically, utilizing a small but very talented crew who all bought into the heart of the story and who understood the gravity of the story we were trying to tell. We knew that the only way to make this piece convincing was that everything had to be authentic, so everything we used, from the guns and uniforms to the pyro and effects, was real. To see how thick the smoke is and how close we were able to stage the effects, you become transported back and are suddenly able to grasp and understand the stakes of what these soldiers are experiencing. We tried to be honest with the piece while still staying true to the band and I believe we encompassed enough horror and shock and emotion that everyone will be pleased."

A drug property associated with violence and crime,
There lived a family in despair,sorrow and tragedy.
Father was a drinker and a goddamn fiend,
A sadistic motherfucker who could not keep his hands off his own kin!

Mother was a skeleton whore,

Clemens talks about playing in front of home crowd, touring US and Europe, the evolution of the band and the recently released album "This Is No Fairytale". Clemens also throws light on conceptual side of the band, how they push the limits and how the music is very different from customary black metal bands. Clemens also talks about the songwriting plans of upcoming album slated to release in 2017, black metal scene, his opinion on ABBATH's new album and much more.

Local political Christian Party tries to forbid Carach Angren Concert on Christmas Eve
This is a compilation (first 2 parts with subtitles in English) of the news on internet/TV about the infamous performance by Carach Angren and The Monlith Deathcult in venue P60 Amstelveen, that will take place Christmas Eve in 2016. A local political Christian party accused the bands of being 'dark' 'devilish' and a great danger to the youth of Amstelveen. They went as far as comparising Carach Angren with Anders Breivik, the idiot who shot 77 innocent men, women and children on the island Utøya.They also compared CA with Tristan van der Vlis, a 24-year old troubled guy who started shooting in a shopping mall, thereby killing 6 people and wounding 17 before killing himself.
