"In Saravena we have been one of the townships more attacked during the last year, this year by the illegal armed groups. This year we have received 74 attacks as a result of that there was totally destroyed the mayor's office, the councilhall, the police station, the attorney's office and around 40 or 50 warehouses."

STORYLINE:
Colombia's government strengthened its powers to fight armed groups in part by creating two security zones, where military commanders will be able to conduct searches without warrants, restrict travel and impose curfews.
Uribe is presently visiting the
United States.
Saravena has had more than 60 attacks this year by illegal revolutionary armed groups.
