La Cravate - The Severed Heads - Alejandro Jodorowsky
1957 - France
Director: Alejandro Jodorowsky
Writers: Alejandro Jodorowsky, Thomas Mann (novel)
Stars: Denise Brossot, Rolande Polya, Alejandro Jodorowsky
The film tells of a young man's desire to win the love of a woman. To do this, he visits a store which allows customers to switch their heads, and thus their personalities. The young man trades in his head for a variety of different models, and while his body continues to woo the woman of his dreams, the store's proprietor, a young woman, takes a fancy to the man's original head and takes it home. The moral is never to lose your head over unrequited love, but find someone who loves you as you are. It's bizarre, amusing and charming, and an impressive first film.

Born to Jewish-Ukrainian parents in Chile, Jodorowsky experienced an unhappy and alienated childhood, and so immersed himself in reading and writing poetry. Dropping out of college, he became involved in theater and in particular mime, working as a clown before founding his own theater troupe, the ''Teatro Mimico'', in 1947. Moving to Paris in the early 1950s, Jodorowsky studied mime under Étienne Decroux before turning to cinema, directing the short film ''Les têtes interverties'' in 1957. From 1960 he divided his time between Paris and Mexico City, in the former becoming a founding member of the anarchistic avant-garde Panic Movement of performance artists. The moral is never to lose your head over unrequited love, but find someone who loves you as you are. It's bizarre, amusing and charming, and an impressive first film.

The group is formed by Jean-Marie Ahanda joined by guitarist Zanzibar (Epeme Theodore). Zanzibar is known for his way to ring his guitar like a balafon by attaching a rubber foam on the bridge of his guitar. The death of Zanzibar in 1988 threatened to end the band. The group is the new member which can record new songs and remake albums.
The Burnt heads is their first album, with only the bikutsi. The texts are engaged and targeted many social problems in Cameroon.
The group toured throughout Africa, Europe, the US and Japan. During the French tour in 1988, the director Claire Denis, who noticed them in Yaounde, decides to go with them on tour. It draws a movie: Man No Run. The group also supports the national team of Cameroon during the World Cup match against Italy.
The group of trumpeter's son is none other than Mr Ice, A member of The Young And's group.
