Dear Sir/Madam,

TAXING MATTER

As Jeremy Corbyn has yet to make public his tax returns, it seems somewhat hypocritical for him to demand further details of the Prime Minister's financial affairs when Mr Cameron has already published his!

Dear Sir/Madam,

HOT WATER

Following the recent closure of Scotland's last coal fired power station at Longannet, I wonder if any of your readers have, like me, noticed that their kettle seems to boil less rapidly?

Dear Sir/Madam

BORIS ON TRACK

I've noted some rather sour reactions from republicans to London Mayor Boris Johnston's renaming of Crossrail to the Elizabeth Line in honour of our Queen.

Perhaps they should be campaigning to have it named the Boris Line? He is after all an elected representative.

Dear Sir/Madam,

LOCUM SOLUTION

It is time for Junior Doctors to take their gloves off in their fight against the Health Secretary.

Whilst a long term strike might be considered to contravene the Hippocratic Oath, surely nobody could find fault with medics who simply refused to accept the new contract and resigned from their posts?

Of course they would then be at liberty to register with temporary agencies to work at at whatever was the going rate. This would doubtless be more expensive for the NHS than simply settling with the BMA, but I cannot see any government allowing hospitals to close when there was a ready supply of suitable doctors available in the free market.

Dear Sir/Madam,

TROUBLED BRIDGE

I see that the Forth Road Bridge's closure also extends to pedestrians and cyclists.

If their minimal extra weight is considered problematic, then the structure is clearly in more trouble than the public is being told.

My guess is that the bridge will never re-open to traffic. But what are the safety implications for people living nearby in the case of total or partial collapse?

Dear Sir/Madam,

BELCHING EXHAUSTS

I am unimpressed at the exhibition of new found environmental concern by car owners who feel aggrieved that their German cars' computers have been skilfully programmed to always indicate that emissions standards are being met.

Like most drivers, as long as my vehicle passes the MOT, I don't care what emerges from the exhaust pipe. If I gave a fig about the environment, I'd have bought a bicycle!

Dear Sir/Madam,

EXTEND LINE AND STARVE LAWYERS

I am appalled to hear that Edinburgh Council is to throw yet more money at lawyers in order to provide free legal representation for former staff and councillors at the Tram Enquiry.

For the £2M involved, the tram line could have been extended to at least Picardy Place if not all the way to Elm Row!
