After the Nazist regime invaded The Soviet Union the Soviet Union was in for pay back and sure would get it the same year with the fall, capture, and liberation of the people of Germany within Berlin and so Germany's ideal to rule over the world failed the soviets and allied powers occupied germany forming their own governments to replace the past Nazi regime to make sure something like this was to never happen again. You may like or dislike them but you should respect their role during WW2 for every allied power played an important part in this. The special words of gratitude to Cardinal Achille Ratti, the ambassador of the Holy See to Poland and the future Pope Pius XI, who was the only diplomat in Warsaw that didn't flee the city during the Bolshevik siege in August 1920.

- to The United States of America, to President Woodrow Wilson personally and above all, to the heroic volunteers from the U.S. Air Force, who came to defend Poland from the communist doom led by the voice of the heart .

- to The Republic of Hungary, which did their best to come to the aid of fighting Poland with the 30,000 strong army. Unfortunately, the Czechoslovak government refused to grant permission to the Hungarian Army to transit through her territory. Against all odds, in the nick of time, the Hungarians managed to dispatch to Poland several trains loaded with Hungary-made Mauser rifles, field kitchens, artillery and heavy machine guns that allowed to form a few fully equipped divisions, which had a tremendous impact on the final outcome of the war.

American documentary film on the 1979 Soviet invasion of Afghanistan. It includes interviews with Soviet emigres, a former official in the Afghan Government, a double agent, U.N. delegates, a representative for human rights, Russian soldiers, doctors and journalists.
About the Soviet occupation of Afghanistan (1979-1989):
Prior to the arrival of Soviet troops in Afghanistan, the pro-Soviet Taraki government took power in a 1978 coup and initiated a series of drastic modernization reforms throughout the country. Vigorously suppressing any opposition from among the traditional Muslim Afghans, the government arrested thousands of them. By April 1979 large parts of Afghanistan were in open rebellion and by December the government had lost control of territory outside of the cities. In response to Afghan government requests, the Soviet government under leader Leonid Brezhnev first sent covert troops to advise and support the Afghani government, but on December 24, 1979, began the first deployment of the Soviet 40th Army. Arriving in the capital Kabul, they staged a coup, removing the Afghan President, and installing a rival Afghan socialist, Babrak Karmal.
In January 1980, the United Nations (UN) General Assembly passed a resolution protesting the Soviet intervention by a vote of 104-18. Afghan insurgents began to receive massive amounts of aid, military training in neighboring Pakistan and China, paid for primarily by the United States and Arab monarchies in the Persian Gulf.
By the mid-1980s the Soviet contingent was increased to 108,800. Soviet troops occupied the cities and main arteries of communication, while the insurgent groups (the so called Mujahideen) operating in the almost 80 percent of the country that escaped government and Soviet control.
The military and diplomatic cost of the occupation to Moscow was high. By mid-1987 the Soviet Union, now under reformist leader Mikhail Gorbachev, announced it would start withdrawing its forces. The final troop withdrawal started on May 15, 1988, and ended on February 15, 1989.
Due to its length the Soviet intervention in Afghanistan has sometimes been referred to as the "Soviet Union's Vietnam” by the Western media, and thought to be a contributing factor to the fall of the Soviet Union.

Against all odds, in the nick of time, the Hungarians managed to dispatch to Poland several trains loaded with Hungary-made Mauser rifles, field kitchens, artillery and heavy machine guns that allowed to form a few fully equipped divisions, which had a tremendous impact on the final outcome of the war.

About the Soviet occupation of Afghanistan (1979-1989):
Prior to the arrival of Soviet troops in Afghanistan, the pro-Soviet Taraki government took power in a 1978 coup and initiated a series of drastic modernization reforms throughout the country. Vigorously suppressing any opposition from among the traditional Muslim Afghans, the government arrested thousands of them. By April 1979 large parts of Afghanistan were in open rebellion and by December the government had lost control of territory outside of the cities. In response to Afghan government requests, the Soviet government under leader Leonid Brezhnev first sent covert troops to advise and support the Afghani government, but on December 24, 1979, began the first deployment of the Soviet 40th Army. Arriving in the capital Kabul, they staged a coup, removing the Afghan President, and installing a rival Afghan socialist, Babrak Karmal.
In January 1980, the United Nations (UN) General Assembly passed a resolution protesting the Soviet intervention by a vote of 104-18. Afghan insurgents began to receive massive amounts of aid, military training in neighboring Pakistan and China, paid for primarily by the United States and Arab monarchies in the Persian Gulf.
By the mid-1980s the Soviet contingent was increased to 108,800. Soviet troops occupied the cities and main arteries of communication, while the insurgent groups (the so called Mujahideen) operating in the almost 80 percent of the country that escaped government and Soviet control.
The military and diplomatic cost of the occupation to Moscow was high. By mid-1987 the Soviet Union, now under reformist leader Mikhail Gorbachev, announced it would start withdrawing its forces. The final troop withdrawal started on May 15, 1988, and ended on February 15, 1989.
Due to its length the Soviet intervention in Afghanistan has sometimes been referred to as the "Soviet Union's Vietnam” by the Western media, and thought to be a contributing factor to the fall of the Soviet Union.

According to witnesses, the most terrible sight was that of seeing the priest nailed to the prison wall. Even worse, someone had slit his belly open and placed a dead human fetus inside of it.

17 September 1939 Comrade Stalin has entered into a pact with the Germans, and we will both attack and split Poland. That does not mean our two nations are friends. However, forcing Poland to fight a war on two fronts gives a tactical advantage. My objectives are to take the cities of Tarnopol and Stanislawow. Moreover I am ordered to take out the regional Polish command center and watch out for enemy movements in the area south of the Prut River. ------------------------- Difficulty is set to Zhukov and we are trying to do a blind run here. Any open minded approach to this issue leaves plenty of scope for the possibility that Germany's attack against the Soviet Union in 1941 happened for reasons very different from those given by main stream historians, some of whom would like people to believe Hitler had started preparing detailed plans of military conquest decades earlier to eventually turn the Soviet Union into a German colony, come what may.
The audio dubbed over the video is an educational US English radio broadcast, which gives a brief analysis of [previously hotly disputed] fact based evidence related to the armed conflict between Stalin's Soviet Union and Hitler's Third Reich. The speaker gives many useful source material references for students who prefer to form their own informed opinion by properly researching the true causes of this terrible war instead of accepting the simplistic accounts of reasons for the conflict as portrayed in hundreds of "parrot style" history books, biased documentaries and deliberate false propaganda.
