Here is the late Welsh tenor singing Arbace's aria from act II of Mozart's "Idomeneo". This is from an Aldeburgh Festival performance in June, 1969 at the Blythburgh Church. Benjamin Britten conducts. (Sung in English).
"Se il tuo duol, se il mio desio
Sen volassero del pari,
A ubbidirti qual son io,
Saria il duol pronto a fuggir.
Quali al trono sian compagni,
Chi l'ambisce or veda e impari:

I have posted a couple arias from the same performance sung by Peter Pears in the title role.

Robert Tear, (pronounced to rhyme with "ear") CBE (8 March 1939 – 29 March 2011) was a Welsh tenor and conductor.
Tear was born in Barry, Glamorgan, Wales, UK, the son of Thomas and Edith Tear. He attended Barry Boys' Grammar School and during this period sang in the chorus of the first Welsh National Opera's production of Cavalleria Rusticana in April 1946. He was a choral scholar at King's College, Cambridge, where he studied under Kimbell. He was later elected an Honorary Fellow of the College. In 1961 he was appointed a Vicar Choral at St Paul's Cathedral.
In 1961 he married Hilary Thomas. He and his wife had two daughters, and lived in west London. One of his daughters, Lizzie Tear, would have a career in pop music.
Robert Tear's operatic début was in 1966, as Peter Quint in Benjamin Britten's The Turn of the Screw on the English Opera Group's tour in Britain and Russia.
In 1970 he made his début at the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden, in London, Covent Garden as Lensky in Tchaikovsky's Eugene Onegin.

Here is the late Welsh tenor singing Arbace's aria from act II of Mozart's "Idomeneo". This is from an Aldeburgh Festival performance in June, 1969 at the Blythburgh Church. Les Béatitudes is a French oratorio written by César Franck from 1869 to 1879 and scored for orchestra, chorus, and soloists. Les Béatitudes is a French oratorio written by César Franck from 1869 to 1879 and scored for orchestra, chorus, and soloists. The text is a poetic meditation on the eight beatitudes of Jesus from the Gospel of Matthew by Joséphine Colomb. It was first performed, in reduced form, on February 20, 1879, at a private performance in Franck's home in Paris. The full oratorio was not performed until after Franck's death, on March 19, 1893 in Colonne. The work, at nearly two hours, is among Franck's largest compositions. It is scored for orchestra, choir, and eight soloists (soprano, mezzo-soprano, contralto, 2 tenors, baritone, and 2 basses). It is considered to be one of the composers masterpieces.
Beatitude No 4 (Bienheureux ceux qui ont faim et soif de la justice - Blessed are they that hunger and thirst for righteousness) begins with an impressive and mystical orchestral prelude followed by a dramatic tenor solo ("Where'er we stray, stern fate enthralls us"), and concludes with the voice of Christ ("Oh, happy he athirst for God's salvation").
Robert Tear (1939-2011) was one of the most distinguished singers of his generation. He was born in Barry, Glamorgan and studied at the Boys' Grammar School there. He attended King's College Cambridge as a choral scholar.
His operatic debut was in the role of Peter Quint in Benjamin Britten's The Turn of the Screw and throughout his life he took on many of the roles Britten wrote for Peter Pears, including the composer's last stage work, Death in Venice -- Tear sang Aschenbach in the Glyndebourne Touring Company production in the 1989-90 season. His numerous Britten recordings include Albert Herring, A Midsummer Night's Dream, the Spring Symphony, St Nicolas and War Requiem (in Simon Rattle's EMI's recording). He also created the role of Dov in Sir Michael Tippett's The Knot Garden (1970). Other British repertoire at which he excelled included the choral works of Elgar and Vaughan Williams as well as music of an earlier period, Purcell and Handel.
But Tear's range and musical sympathies were enormously broad and during his long career (his stage debut was in 1966 and he retired in 2009 after singing the Emperor in Puccini's Turandot)) he sang or recorded roles in operas by Berg (he sang the painter in the Friedrich Cerha completion of Lulu under Boulez), Delius, Donizetti, Henze, Janácek, Messiaen, Mozart, Offenbach, Richard Strauss, Tchaikovsky (Lensky was the role of his Covent Garden debut in 1970) and Wagner. Along with his stage and oratorio work, Tear was a fine recitalist, leaving recordings of music by Elgar, Vaughan Williams and Butterworth, as well as songs by Tchaikovsky (with Philip Ledger at the piano, a regular musical partner) Copland, Rachmaninoff, Beethoven and Schumann. He also made a speciality of reviving Victorian parlour songs, often in the company of the baritone Benjamin Luxon.

His operatic debut was in the role of Peter Quint in Benjamin Britten's The Turn of the Screw and throughout his life he took on many of the roles Britten wrote for Peter Pears, including the composer's last stage work, Death in Venice -- Tear sang Aschenbach in the Glyndebourne Touring Company production in the 1989-90 season. His numerous Britten recordings include Albert Herring, A Midsummer Night's Dream, the Spring Symphony, St Nicolas and War Requiem (in Simon Rattle's EMI's recording). He also created the role of Dov in Sir Michael Tippett's The Knot Garden (1970). Other British repertoire at which he excelled included the choral works of Elgar and Vaughan Williams as well as music of an earlier period, Purcell and Handel.
But Tear's range and musical sympathies were enormously broad and during his long career (his stage debut was in 1966 and he retired in 2009 after singing the Emperor in Puccini's Turandot)) he sang or recorded roles in operas by Berg (he sang the painter in the Friedrich Cerha completion of Lulu under Boulez), Delius, Donizetti, Henze, Janácek, Messiaen, Mozart, Offenbach, Richard Strauss, Tchaikovsky (Lensky was the role of his Covent Garden debut in 1970) and Wagner. Along with his stage and oratorio work, Tear was a fine recitalist, leaving recordings of music by Elgar, Vaughan Williams and Butterworth, as well as songs by Tchaikovsky (with Philip Ledger at the piano, a regular musical partner) Copland, Rachmaninoff, Beethoven and Schumann. He also made a speciality of reviving Victorian parlour songs, often in the company of the baritone Benjamin Luxon.

Say hello to the new king of late night! Jimmy Fallon made his highly-anticipated as the host of The Tonight Show on Monday, and we're happy to say he did NOT disappoint. As we're sure you know, the funny man replaced Jay Leno after his 20 year run, and Jimmy is definitely bringing a fun, youthful vibe to the legendary late night show. In fact, there were not one, not two, but SIX moments that really stood out to us, so let us break 'em down for you, in case you haven't had a chance to watch yet.
First and foremost, let's talk about that monologue. Jimmy's first Tonight Show monologue was just the right amount of funny, witty, and heartfelt. He gave his parents a shout out, and joked about how he couldn't get them better seats, and he also talked about his 7-month-old daughter Winnie, and we have to warn you, you might tear up just a little bit.
Taking the 2-spot is U2. The legendary band not only did a little acoustic set for Jimmy during the show, but they ROCKED out on the roof of 30 Rockefeller Plaza to close out Jimmy's inaugural episode. Doesn't get much more epic than that, does it? Oh, but it does!
At number-3 on our list, one thing that's had everyone talking is the cameos! Pretty much everyone who's anyone was in on the fun bit that involved a "bet." See, Jimmy prefaced it by saying he'd made a $100 bet with a "buddy" who thought he'd never host The Tonight Show. Then out walks Robert DeNiro slamming a Benjamin Franklin on Jimmy's desk. Other stars who followed suit include Lady Gaga, Kim Kardashian, Lindsay Lohan, Tina Fey, Seth Rogen, and many, many more.
Another exciting part of Jimmy's debut includes the new opening number, which was directed by none other than Spike Lee! Jimmy said he's excited for every episode to kick off with a "Spike Lee Joint." And last but not least, one of the biggest moments of Jimmy's debut on The Tonight Show, Jimmy was joined by Will Smith for the "Evolution of Hip Hop Dancing," and it is sure to have people talking for quite some time. Some moves include, The Cabbage Patch, The Running Man, The Carlton, plus many more. I've said it before and I'll say it again: What about overalls?!
And while we're on the subject of Will Smith, we had to throw in a little bonus clip of him talking about the popular Olympic sport, curling. While chatting with Jimmy, Will admitted he thinks that he'd make a great curler. Take a look at his, um, technique.

On Dec. 26 the 2012 Kennedy Center Honors was aired on national television for the first time on CBS. During the event, which took place at the Kennedy Center Opera House, Ann Wilson and Nancy Wilson of Heart performed Led Zeppelin's "Stairway to Heaven" with Jason Bonham on drums.
The honor is given to those in the performing arts for their lifetime of contributions to American culture and in 2012 the surviving members of Led Zeppelin (John Paul Jones, Jimmy Page and Robert Plant) were among those honored. During their segment, the Foo Fighters performed "Rock and Roll," Lenny Kravitz performed "Whole Lotta Love," and Kid Rock performed both "Babe I'm Gonna Leave You" and "Ramble On".
The performance of "Stairway to Heaven" began with Ann and Nancy Wilson of Heart performing the song with a backing band, which included Jason Bonham on drums. He is the son of Led Zeppelin drummer John Bonham, who passed away in 1980. As the song progressed, back-up singers, a string section, and the Joyce Garrett Youth Choir came on stage to help perform "Stairway to Heaven".
The choir members and Jason Bonham were wearing bowler hats, which was a tribute to the band's late drummer John Bonham. Throughout the performance lead vocalist Robert Plant was noticeably moved, and towards the end of the song he had tears in his eyes.
Jason Bonham loved the fact that Led Zeppelin didn't know he'd be drumming on Stairway To Heaven at their Kennedy Center tribute night, hosted by US President Barack Obama. Bonham performed with Heart and an all-star band -- and the first Plant, Page and Jones knew of it was when they saw him walk on stage.
He said: "It was so incredible to see their faces, sat there next to the president. The guys knew who was playing -- but they didn't know I would be on drums. Their faces lit up, and the smiles and tears... It was fantastic. What a way to close the show!"
