Dallas-based insurance brokerage firm Waldman Bros. has been bought by IMA Financial Group, a company that specializes in risk management, employee benefits and wealth management, the company announced this week.

Waldman, which was founded in 1939, will give IMA more of a local presence, while Waldman will gain access to a national network, executives from the new subsidiary said in statements.

“Uniting IMA’s depth of knowledge and resource-rich environment with Waldman Bros’ complimentary expertise will add new services and value to both companies’ existing clients,” said IMA | Waldman Texas’ president Steve Waldman, who was Waldman’s CEO.

IMA | Waldman will continue to operate out of Waldman’s offices in Dallas. The local division has almost 70 employees, according to a news release.

IMA has about 650 associates, who work in Colorado, Kansas, Michigan, New York and Texas.
