Barak leaving news conference STORYLINE Israeli Deputy Prime Minister Ehud Barak has urged the international community to step up sanctions against Iran before they establish nuclear weapon capabilities. Speaking at a news conference in Tokyo on Saturday, Barak also said he didn't expect Syrian President Bashar Assad to still be in power by 2013. His comments were made amid growing tension over Iran's nuclear programme after the nation announced it had made significant progress in it's nuclear capabilities. The Israeli Deputy Prime Minister was speaking to reporters on the fifth and final day of his stay in Japan. During his visit, he met with the Japanese Prime Minister Yoshihiko Noda who urged Barak not to resort to military action against Iran. During the news conference, Barak reiterated that "no option should be removed off the table" but maintained that there is still time to move forward with tougher steps that would include sanctions against Iran's central bank.
