Miss

Miss (pronounced /Ë?mɪs/) is an English language honorific traditionally used only for an unmarried woman (not using another title such as "Doctor" or "Dame"). Originating in the 17th century, it is a contraction of mistress, which was used for all women. A period is not used to signify the contraction. Its counterparts are Mrs., usually used only for married women, and Ms., which can be used for married or unmarried women.

The plural Misses may be used, such as in The Misses Doe. The traditional French "Mesdemoiselles" (abbreviation "Mlles") may also be used as the plural in English language conversation or correspondence.

Use as a title (honorific) in the United States

The usage of "Miss" as a title in the United States is most frequently seen when referring to girls under eighteen–. Though Miss is less commonly used as a title by unmarried adult women in the United States than in the past, some still prefer to be referred to as such. Twenty-first century etiquette honors an adult woman's personal preference of title. However, if the preference is not known, "Ms." is used. "Ms." is the preferred choice as the female title in business. It is the equivalent to the male title "Mr." as neither is marital status specific.

The Bahamas ⁱ/bÉ™Ë?hÉ‘Ë?mÉ™z/, officially the Commonwealth of the Bahamas, is an island country of the Lucayan Archipelago consisting of more than 700 islands, cays, and islets in the Atlantic Ocean; north of Cuba and Hispaniola (Haiti and the Dominican Republic); northwest of the Turks and Caicos Islands; southeast of the US state of Florida and east of the Florida Keys. Its capital is Nassau on the island of New Providence. The designation of "Bahamas" can refer to either the country or the larger island chain that it shares with the Turks and Caicos Islands. As stated in the mandate/manifesto of the Royal Bahamas Defence Force, the Bahamas territory encompasses 470,000 km² (180,000 sq mi) of ocean space.

Originally inhabited by the Lucayan, a branch of the Arawakan-speaking Taino people, the Bahamas were the site of Columbus' first landfall in the New World in 1492. Although the Spanish never colonised the Bahamas, they shipped the native Lucayans to slavery in Hispaniola. The islands were mostly deserted from 1513 until 1648, when English colonists from Bermuda settled on the island of Eleuthera.

Anastagia Pierre

Anastagia Pierre (born October 5, 1988) is a Bahamian-American beauty queen, model, spokesperson, and television host, elected as Miss Bahamas Universe 2011 on May 1, 2011. She competed at Miss Universe 2011 in São Paulo, Brazil on September 12, 2011. She is the Station Host at WTVJ NBC 6 in Miami, FL.

Personal life

Pierre was born in Miami, Florida, to a Haitian mother and a Haitian father. Pierre is a graduate of Nova Southeastern University, Pierre holds a bachelor's degree in Communication Studies and can be seen weekday mornings on NBC Miami as the Station Host. Pierre is also an on camera spokesperson for companies such as Diamonds International, Brookstone, & VPX Redline. Pierre has graced catwalks all over the globe for leading designers such as Chloe, Betsey Johnson, and Christian Audigier. In 2012, Pierre became a worldwide media sensation after meeting Britain’s Prince Harry, and was named one of the “Hottest Beach Bodies of 2012� by US Weekly Magazine. She has been featured in publications such as the Sports Illustrated Swim Suit Edition, Self -Magazine, & Vanidades.
