If you start to notice your FWD vehicle clicking when you make a tight turn, you might have an issue with the outer CV joint. If you make a right turn, it's usually the left side that's bad and vice versa. Most axles are easy to replace and the one depicted in this video is fairly typical of what you run into. The main differences come in with how the lower ball joint is attached. I think this part will give you the most trouble. I often get asked about what to torque the axle nut to. To be hones, I don't know. I've only ever run them down with my impact. I've never had an issue doing it that way and I don't think you would either. Just be sure to stake the nut or install the cotter pin and retaining clip if it has one. If you start to notice your FWD vehicle clicking when you make a tight turn, you might have an issue with the outer CV joint. If you make a right turn, it's usually the left side that's bad and vice versa. Most axles are easy to replace and the one depicted in this video is fairly typical of what you run into. The main differences come in with how the lower ball joint is attached. I think this part will give you the most trouble. I often get asked about what to torque the axle nut to. To be hones, I don't know. I've only ever run them down with my impact. I've never had an issue doing it that way and I don't think you would either. If you start to notice your FWD vehicle clicking when you make a tight turn, you might have an issue with the outer CV joint. If you make a right turn, it's usually the left side that's bad and vice versa. Most axles are easy to replace and the one depicted in this video is fairly typical of what you run into. The main differences come in with how the lower ball joint is attached. I think this part will give you the most trouble. I often get asked about what to torque the axle nut to. To be hones, I don't know. I've only ever run them down with my impact. I've never had an issue doing it that way and I don't think you would either. Just be sure to stake the nut or install the cotter pin and retaining clip if it has one. This is a step by step instructional video on how to replace the axle seals & bearings in a Ford 7.5 & 8.8 differential. While I’m working on a ’98 Ford Mustang, this video applies to many Ford models & years since these rear ends have been in use for decades.
I show many tips & tricks as well as the tools needed to make this job quick, easy & painless. The actual labor part of this job takes about 10 minutes per side (not including removing the axles etc). However, the total time (including removing and reinstalling the axles) depends on if you use a regular gasket or RTV for the differential cover gasket and can range from 2 to 24 hours.

Turning my single axle boat trailer into a tandem!
My custom 1660 Fan boat is heavy, 2200lbs to be exact. And the single axle that was underneath it the last few years has seen better days. After multiple bearing failures, the spindles are in rough shape and the seals don't last very long. How To Remove A Seized Axle Stuck In The Hub - Mitsubishi Endeavor Example
This method of seized axle removal has been practiced and refined by myself to a point where I don't have to be intimidated by this problem any more. I've never had an axle I couldn't separate with the Posi Lock 110, but how much damage the axle takes in the process is the refinement. I've learned that you're just not going to avoid distortion of the hub on a Mitsubishi seized axle. This 2005 Mitsubishi Endeavor was in the shop a week prior to filming this and I had found that the rear axles were seized and would not come out without damaging them, so the repair was rescheduled so we could get new axles on hand in the likely case that they get mangled too much to fix within reason. In this case the axles are saved because of both the careful setup of the Posi Lock 110 (3 jaw, 20 ton)... -

So while I was doing an oil change the other day I found that the axles on my Subaru Legacy were quite loose on their mounts. I thought the easiest thing to start with was to replace the axles and recheck for the condition. I had read somewhere where aftermarket axles had caused a hesitation on acceleration and wondered if my loose axles could be causing that condition for me. Replacing the axles didn't solve the hesitation problem but it did make for some good video on the process. I also hope to go back and see how to set the preload on the carrier bearings, that will be in another video. Till then enjoy this axle installation video.

This method of seized axle removal has been practiced and refined by myself to a point where I don't have to be intimidated by this problem any more. I've never had an axle I couldn't separate with the Posi Lock 110, but how much damage the axle takes in the process is the refinement. I've learned that you're just not going to avoid distortion of the hub on a Mitsubishi seized axle.
This 2005 Mitsubishi Endeavor was in the shop a week prior to filming this and I had found that the rear axles were seized and would not come out without damaging them, so the repair was rescheduled so we could get new axles on hand in the likely case that they get mangled too much to fix within reason.
In this case the axles are saved because of both the careful setup of the Posi Lock 110 (3 jaw, 20 ton) puller and the patience of keeping the exposed part of the axle cool. Experience on previous jobs has taught me that if the axle is not cooled as the hub is heated or the puller is not set up perfectly straight, the axle can bend where the splines transition to the threaded end. It can be difficult to set the puller up straight around the lug stud shoulders.
I figured this would be a good job to film as illustration of what we are running into with Mitsu and Hyundai/Kia here in the New England rust belt. They are the worst, but this happens with many other brands as well.

I've learned that you're just not going to avoid distortion of the hub on a Mitsubishi seized axle.
This 2005 Mitsubishi Endeavor was in the shop a week prior to filming this and I had found that the rear axles were seized and would not come out without damaging them, so the repair was rescheduled so we could get new axles on hand in the likely case that they get mangled too much to fix within reason.
In this case the axles are saved because of both the careful setup of the Posi Lock 110 (3 jaw, 20 ton) puller and the patience of keeping the exposed part of the axle cool. Experience on previous jobs has taught me that if the axle is not cooled as the hub is heated or the puller is not set up perfectly straight, the axle can bend where the splines transition to the threaded end. It can be difficult to set the puller up straight around the lug stud shoulders.
I figured this would be a good job to film as illustration of what we are running into with Mitsu and Hyundai/Kia here in the New England rust belt. They are the worst, but this happens with many other brands as well.

In this video I repair a worn out forklift axle housing that belongs to my good friend Joe from the welding shop. This piece of equipment is a vital part of his business and an important tool they rely on everyday, just like I do with my machines. I decided to line bore the housing on the big Kearns boring mill at work, and do the rest of the machine work in my shop.

NEW DELHI. The earth is getting greener because of higher carbon dioxide (CO2) levels in the atmosphere, new research shows. Observations by Nasa satellites over the past 33 years show that there has been a steady increase in leaves on plants and trees, which scientists think is because of the higher CO2 levels. Leaves absorb CO2 and combine it with water to produce food for the plants ... It is the chief culprit of climate change ... ....
