1 dead after shooting in high school parking lot
A man shot and killed a woman in the parking lot of a
Maryland high school early Thursday evening, also injuring an adult male bystander who tried to intervene, police said.
The shooting took place outside of
High Point High School around 5 p.m. ET, a couple of hours after regular classes had ended, though students taking part in extra curricular activities were still in the building,
Prince George's County, Md.,
Police Chief Henry Stawinski said.
An argument was taking place in the parking lot between the man and the woman when the second man tried to step in, taking a number of shots in the shoulder, Stawinski said. That bystander is in the hospital in stable condition, the chief said.
