South Africa: Fatal Accidents On Northern Cape Roads Over the Weekend

Kimberley — Police are investigating separate cases of culpable homicide after fatal accidents claimed the lives of two persons and left two motorists critically injured, on the R31 near Kimberley.

On Friday, 29 April, an unidentified pedestrian (woman) was fatally hit by a vehicle which was travelling on the R31, just approximately ten kilometres outside Kimberley. The victim was certified dead on the accident scene.

The victim, who's identity is not yet known, is in her early 40s, she was dressed in a navy skirt, a purple jersey and black shoes.

On Saturday, 30 April at about 20:55, not far from where the pedestrian was fatally hit, head-on collision between a Volkswagen Tiguan Sports Utility Vehicle and a Polo hatchback claimed the life of a woman and left the drivers of both vehicles critically injured. The woman who was a passenger in the Polo hatch back was certified dead on the accident scene.

Both drivers were taken to the local hospital to receive medical treatment. The cause of the accident is unknown.
