Bohuslav Matěj Černohorský (1684 - 1742) - Toccata in C
I realised how important stability is for an organist. Just before I started to play I suddenly discovered that this organ had attractive coupler slides. I was sure I must use it at all costs. The only thing I was thinking of was to find a place where I could pull it out.
Yes… this would be the right place.
Then I started to play. The
Toccata ran like a
Roman chariot, climaxing with plaudits to the moment when I wanted to use the coupler. When I grabbed both slides, I lost stability and almost fell down on the pedalboard. Fortunately, my feet saved me and my performance, resulting in two pedal tones sounding together in a weird accord.
