Nirgendwo im Mittelmeer gibt es mehr heiße Quellen als auf der Insel Ischia. Seit über 2.000 Jahren wird hier gebadet, nicht nur im Meer. Ischia ist das Zentrum des europäischen Thermaltourismus. Erst kamen Griechen, dann Römer, im Mittelalter die Spanier, dann Touristen aus aller Welt. Ischia war der Lieblings-Kurort der Großeltern-Generation, Inbegriff für Sonne, Fango und Meer. Heute gilt Ischia als das "Sylt" Süditaliens: traumhaft schön und gut versorgt mit gesundheitsfördernden Thermalquellen und erstklassig ausgestatteten Wellnessanlagen. Das haben weder Capri noch die Amalfitanische Küste zu bieten.
In der Bucht von Santa Anna blickt der Badende auf das mächtige Aragoneser Schloss und schwimmt über den Resten der ersten römischen Insel-Siedlungen; eine heiße Quelle sorgt für traumhafte Temperaturen. Zehn große Thermalparks gibt es auf Ischia, Hunderte kleiner Pools. In heilenden Wassern baden, direkt am Meer - in dieser Kombination ist das auf Ischia einzigartig im ganzen Mittelmeer. 200 Liter Thermalwasser schießen an manchen Stellen pro Minute aus dem Fels. Von Verschwendung kann nicht die Rede sein, dreißig Thermalquellen gibt es auf Ischia, manche speisen Badestellen in entlegenen Schluchten. Weltbekannt wurde Ischia in den sechziger Jahren, als es zum Filmset wurde, etwa für "Cleopatra". Bereits 1960 hatte René Clement hier "Nur die Sonne war Zeuge" gedreht. Mit den Filmleuten kam der internationale Jet-Set auf die Insel: Liz Taylor, Charlie Chaplin, Gina Lollobrigida, Maria Callas, auch zum Baden. Heute vergnügen sich jedes Jahr fünf Millionen Badetouristen auf der Insel. "Die großen Seebäder: Ischia - Italien" ist eine filmische Hommage an ein Paradies im Mittelmeer, das aber auch unzähligen Gefahren ausgesetzt ist. Denn ihre Schönheit ist Ischia Segen und Fluch zugleich: Ischia liegt, ähnlich wie die Insel Giglio, in einer vom Schiffsverkehr zunehmend bedrohten Zone.

Die drei Inseln im Golf von Neapel - Capri, Ischia und Procida - könnten unterschiedlicher kaum sein. Während Capri vor allem ein beliebtes Ziel von Tagestouristen ist und Ischia zum Verweilen einlädt, ist Procida, die kleinste der drei Eilande, fast noch ein Geheimtipp.
Capri im Golf von Neapel ist berühmt für die Blaue Grotte und diente als Kulisse für Kinoklassiker. Die kleine Felseninsel bietet aber sehr viel mehr: atemberaubende Landschaften, exzentrische Architektur, liebenswürdige Bewohner. Und sie übt offenbar eine geradezu magische Anziehungskraft aus. Fast alle Inselbewohner können Geschichten von Menschen erzählen, die eigentlich nur für einen Tag nach Capri kommen wollten und ein ganzes Leben geblieben sind.
Auf Ischia landeten vor rund 3.000 Jahren griechische Seefahrer, gründeten eine Kolonie und pflanzten ihren Wein auf der fruchtbaren Vulkanerde an. Viele Menschen, die auf die Insel kommen, bleiben, oft der Liebe wegen. Wie Karin, eine deutsche Kunststudentin aus Hannover, die vor 50 Jahren mit einem Maler aus Ischia in die wildromantische Ruine des Castello Aragonese zog und noch heute dort lebt. Oder die Meeresbiologin aus Norditalien, die auf Ischia ihre Liebe und ihre Lebensaufgabe fand: den Meeresboden zu untersuchen, aus dem die Vulkangase aus dem feurigen Innern der Insel blubbern.
Procida ist die kleinste der drei Inseln im Golf von Neapel. Sie ist fast noch ein Geheimtipp. Nur wenige kennen das malerische Fischerdörfchen La Corricella oder die schaurige Festung der Terra Murata, in der bis vor wenigen Jahren noch Schwerverbrecher eingekerkert wurden. Procida gehört noch den Einheimischen, und sie sind sehr stolz auf ihr Eiland. Seemann ist der häufigste Beruf auf Procida. Und wenn nun auch die Frauen Kapitän werden wollen? Ischia (Italian pronunciation: [ˈiskia]) is a volcanic island in the Tyrrhenian Sea. It lies at the northern end of the Gulf of Naples, about 30 km from the city of Naples. It is the largest of the Phlegrean Islands. Roughly trapezoidal in shape, it measures around 10 km east to west and 7 km north to south and has about 34 kilometres (21 mi) of coastline and a surface area of 46.3 square kilometres (17.9 sq mi). It is almost entirely mountainous, the highest peak being Mount Epomeo at 788 m. The island has a population of over 60,000 people.
Ischia is the name of the main comune of the island. The other comuni of the island are Barano d'Ischia, Casamicciola Terme, Forio, Lacco Ameno and Serrara Fontana.
The main industry is tourism, centering on thermal spas that cater mostly to European (especially German) and Asian tourists eager to enjoy the fruits of the island's natural volcanic activity, its thermal hot springs, and its volcanic mud. For many of the inhabitants on the Italian-speaking island, German and English are second languages. This is because of the large number of German- and English-speaking tourists who visit the island each year.

© CLAUDIO MORTINI ❀ Il comune di Ischia si estende lungo la costa nord-orientale dell'isola e per chi viene dal continente è il primo comune ed anche il principale centro dell'isola d'Ischia, si stende dalle colline di S.Alessandro al Castello Aragonese. Il territorio viene suddiviso in due toponimi principali: Ischia Porto, anticamente chiamato Villa dei Bagni per la presenza di diverse terme, e Ischia Ponte, l'antico Borgo di Celsa. Altri quartieri sono: S.Michele, S.Antuono, Campagnano, S.Alessandro, S.Ciro. Il nome di Ischia è stato esteso a tutto il comune in età recente, perché anticamente la "Città d'Ischia" era costituita dal cosiddetto "Castello Aragonese", dove aveva sede il governatore dell'isola e il vescovo della diocesi. Cittadina deliziosa e vivace, è oggi il vero centro dell'isola. Parte delle case bianche e multicolori si stendono intorno al lago craterico, aperto al mare da Ferdinando II di Borbone e divenuto un porto sicuro. Adorna la cittadina una lussereggiante pineta che si stende sino alle spiagge. In questo comune si accentra la storia civile e religiosa di tutta l'isola, che mostra nei caseggiati di Ischia Ponte l'antica architettura ischitana. Località famosa per spiagge, sorgenti termali, attrattive storiche, ricca di alberghi di gran lusso su posizioni d'incanto. La collina di Sant'Alessandro E' una deliziosa collina che si erge sul lato destro del porto (per chi raggiunge l'isola dal mare) e che prende il nome dal papa martire, per esservi stata costruita fin dal lontano medioevo una cappella, ora restaurata a cura dei privati della zona. Per secoli la collina è stata di proprietà della famiglia Di Manso, tra le piu' nobili di Ischia. Qui si conserva uno dei rari esempi di architettura medioevale ischitana: un portale in stile durazzesco. -

Alla costa sta attaccato un grazioso sobborgo, un tempo primitivo villaggio di pescatori, mentre troneggiante verso il mare si stacca una penisoletta detta «Torre di S. Angelo». Come una grande groppa di un cammello essa avanza verso il mare. Questa penisoletta non ha uguale nel territorio geografico nazionale. Attualmente le vecchie case di pescatori che sorgono alle radici del monte, sono confuse ai lussuosi alberghi che fanno di S. Angelo, una piccola Capri. A S. Angelo si prova un senso di grandioso riposo. Qui sono bandite le macchine e i bolidi che sfrecciano sulla statale dell'isola non vi possono accedere. Capri im Golf von Neapel ist berühmt für die Blaue Grotte und diente als Kulisse für Kinoklassiker. Die kleine Felseninsel bietet aber sehr viel mehr: atemberaubende Landschaften, exzentrische Architektur, liebenswürdige Bewohner. Und sie übt offenbar eine geradezu magische Anziehungskraft aus. Fast alle Inselbewohner können Geschichten von Menschen erzählen, die eigentlich nur für einen Tag nach Capri kommen wollten und ein ganzes Leben geblieben sind.
Auf Ischia landeten vor rund 3.000 Jahren griechische Seefahrer, gründeten eine Kolonie und pflanzten ihren Wein auf der fruchtbaren Vulkanerde an. Wie Karin, eine deutsche Kunststudentin aus Hannover, die vor 50 Jahren mit einem Maler aus Ischia in die wildromantische Ruine des Castello Aragonese zog und noch heute dort lebt. Il comune di Ischia si estende lungo la costa nord-orientale dell'isola e per chi viene dal continente è il primo comune ed anche il principale centro dell'isola d'Ischia, si stende dalle colline di S.Alessandro al Castello Aragonese.
Il territorio viene suddiviso in due toponimi principali: Ischia Porto, anticamente chiamato Villa dei Bagni per la presenza di diverse terme, e Ischia Ponte, l'antico Borgo di Celsa. Altri quartieri sono: S.Michele, S.Antuono, Campagnano, S.Alessandro, S.Ciro.
Il nome di Ischia è stato esteso a tutto il comune in età recente, perché anticamente la "Città d'Ischia" era costituita dal cosiddetto "Castello Aragonese", dove aveva sede il governatore dell'isola e il vescovo della diocesi. Cittadina deliziosa e vivace, è oggi il vero centro dell'isola. Parte delle case bianche e multicolori si stendono intorno al lago craterico, aperto al mare da Ferdinando II di Borbone e divenuto un porto sicuro.
Adorna la cittadina una lussereggiante pineta che si stende sino alle spiagge. In questo comune si accentra la storia civile e religiosa di tutta l'isola, che mostra nei caseggiati di Ischia Ponte l'antica architettura ischitana.
Località famosa per spiagge, sorgenti termali, attrattive storiche, ricca di alberghi di gran lusso su posizioni d'incanto.
La collina di Sant'Alessandro E' una deliziosa collina che si erge sul lato destro del porto (per chi raggiunge l'isola dal mare) e che prende il nome dal papa martire, per esservi stata costruita fin dal lontano medioevo una cappella, ora restaurata a cura dei privati della zona.
Per secoli la collina è stata di proprietà della famiglia Di Manso, tra le piu' nobili di Ischia. Qui si conserva uno dei rari esempi di architettura medioevale ischitana: un portale in stile durazzesco.

Visitare S. Angelo è certamente una meravigliosa esperienza. Alla costa sta attaccato un grazioso sobborgo, un tempo primitivo villaggio di pescatori, mentre troneggiante verso il mare si stacca una penisoletta detta «Torre di S. Angelo». Come una grande groppa di un cammello essa avanza verso il mare.
Questa penisoletta non ha uguale nel territorio geografico nazionale. Attualmente le vecchie case di pescatori che sorgono alle radici del monte, sono confuse ai lussuosi alberghi che fanno di S. Angelo, una piccola Capri. A S. Angelo si prova un senso di grandioso riposo. Qui sono bandite le macchine e i bolidi che sfrecciano sulla statale dell'isola non vi possono accedere. Bar e ristoranti all'aperto, vi accolgono tra cielo, mare e monti.
Sull'isolotto, alto 106 metri e legato all'isola da un istmo lungo 119 metri, vi erano una volta un piccolo monastero ed una torre di vedetta, della quale si vede ancora la parte inferiore, distrutti nel 1809 dalle cannonate degli Inglesi, quando cacciarono i francesi dal Castello d'Ischia e dall'isola stessa.
Nei suoi dintorni abbondano acque termali, sollievo dei sofferenti. Dal fianco di una collina sorge abbondante acqua termale che alimenta le Terme giardino di Aphrodite, luogo di gioia e di sogno. Lungo la spiaggia che porta alla Marina dei Maronti vi sono le famose Fumarole. Qui bisogna stare attenti a non camminare a piedi scalzi poiché la sabbia è bollente.
La chiesa, dedicata all'Assunta e a San.Michele Arcangelo, risale al XIX secolo e fu elevata a parrocchia nel 1905 dal vescovo Mario Palladino e riconosciuta dallo Stato nel 1915. Sull'altare maggiore pende una tela della Madonna risalente al XIX secolo.
Da Ischia Porto si può raggiungere S. Angelo per due diversi itinerari. Prendendo un autobus di linea, si può attraversare Casamicciola, Lacco, Forio. Di poi passando per una vasta e riposante distesa di vigneti, si raggiunge S. Angelo.
Il secondo itinerario vi porta via Barano. Attraverso questo percorso si ha modo di osservare la parte collinosa e montana dell'Isola. Infatti l'autobus, attraversando vigneti, montagne e zone d'eterno verde, tra strade serpeggianti e profumi di erbe silvestre, vi consegna d'improvviso alle lusinghiere carezze del paesaggio santangiolese.

The Piazza Del Plebiscito embodies both grandeur and vastness and on one side of the square is the Chiesa San Francesco Di Paola, a church of triumph that was built by Ferdinand in 1815 following the return of the Bourbons and was modelled on the Pantheon of Rome. Measuring four square kilometres, Procida is the smallest island off Naples and is densely populated, with a long history. The sight of the picturesque Marina Grande at the Cattolico Ferry Port typifies relaxed island life and is where religious seamen built churches and houses up steep slopes to the Old Town of Terra Murata, the ‘walled land’. Ischia, the island of Titan Tiphoios, is the largest of the three islands in the Gulf Of Naples, each one now being a popular tourist destination. Both Ischia Porto and Ischia Ponte appear to have developed together and contain the palazzi of the rich and fine Baroque churches. The village of Ponte is still home to fishermen who offer their tasty daily catch on the pier. Vesuvius is a place of ancient myth and catastrophe. A bizarre landscape of craters, breathing out mysterious wisps of smoke and since early times, an active volcano that last erupted in 1944. Its highly explosive potential, and nearby large population, make it the most dangerous volcanic threat in Europe. Amalfi, beating heart of the coast, is today a world famous resort squeezed into the mouth of a valley of paper mills. A land where lemon trees blossom and in which both past and present merge into a unique cultural landscape, Campania is a paradise of gods and nature!

From the centre of the town a small causeway leads to the tiny island of Borgo Santa Lucia. The Via Partenope, with its magnificent buildings and luxury hotels on the coast near Santa Lucia, developed by land reclamation in the nineteenth century. Emergency workers in Kolkata continued to search for survivors underneath a collapsed overpass in a congested area of the eastern city, as the construction firm building the flyover was being investigated. At least 21 people were killed and over a dozens were still trapped under the rubble of the under-construction overpass that collapsed on Thursday ... "The condition is pathetic ...
