We finally got a rare glimpse of the embattled Gaza Strip and a chance to see what life was like under the rule of Hamas. In 2007 we tried and failed to get into Gaza through the Israeli-controlled Erez Crossing. Back then the rival Palestinian factions of Hamas and Fatah were engaged in a bloody war for control of this tiny strip of land. Hamas won. When the post-Mubarak government of Egypt decided to start letting small numbers of folks into Gaza through their Rafah Crossing, we knew we could finally enter the region.

During the devastating 50-day war in Israel and Gaza this past summer, around 18,000 homes in Gaza were destroyed or severely damaged, leaving around 120,000 residents homeless.
Now, with trouble in neighboring Sinai and infighting between Palestinian factions, reconstruction efforts in the beleaguered Gaza Strip are moving slowly. With the UN warning of a growing humanitarian crisis for the people of Gaza, many fear that another armed conflict is imminent. Six months after the end of fighting, VICE News returns to the region to investigate the progress on reconstruction.
In part one, VICE News correspondent Danny Gold returns to Shija'iyya, the neighborhood that bore the brunt of last summer's fighting, and investigates how the closure of the Rafah crossing and demolition of the underground tunnels to Egypt has impacted Gaza's fragile economy.

Clashes erupted between Israeli soldiers and Palestinian youths in Jilazoun Refugee Camp in the West Bank on Monday, just hours after the funeral of a 13-year-old Palestinian who was shot and killed by the Israeli military the day before. The White House has signaled readiness to boost military aid to Israel to a historic high, after a letter signed by 83 Senators advocated for the increase. Aid to Israel currently accounts for more than half the total US military aid budget, with a total of $3 billion annually and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu asking for five. Gaza (Arabic: غزة Ġazzah, Arabic pronunciation: [ˈɣazːa]), also referred to as Gaza City, is a Palestinian city in the Gaza Strip, with a population of about 450,000, making it the largest city in the Palestinian territories. Inhabited since at least the 15th-century BCE, Gaza has been dominated by several different peoples and empires throughout its history. The Philistines made it a part of their pentapolis after the Ancient Egyptians had ruled it for nearly 350 years. Under the Romans and later the Byzantines, Gaza experienced relative peace and its port flourished. In 635 CE, it became the first city in Palestine to be conquered by the Rashidun army and quickly developed into a centre of Islamic law. However, by the time the Crusaders invaded the city in the late 11th-century, it was in ruins. In later centuries, Gaza experienced several hardships—from Mongol raids to floods and locusts, reducing it to a village by the 16th-century when it was incorporated into the Ottoman Empire. During the first half of Ottoman rule, the Ridwan dynasty controlled Gaza and under them the city went through an age of great commerce and peace.

We finally got a rare glimpse of the embattled Gaza Strip and a chance to see what life was like under the rule of Hamas. In 2007 we tried and failed to get into Gaza through the Israeli-controlled Erez Crossing. Back then the rival Palestinian factions of Hamas and Fatah were engaged in a bloody war for control of this tiny strip of land. Hamas won. When the post-Mubarak government of Egypt decided to start letting small numbers of folks into Gaza through their Rafah Crossing, we knew we could finally enter the region. During the devastating 50-day war in Israel and Gaza this past summer, around 18,000 homes in Gaza were destroyed or severely damaged, leaving around 120,000 residents homeless.
Now, with trouble in neighboring Sinai and infighting between Palestinian factions, reconstruction efforts in the beleaguered Gaza Strip are moving slowly. With the UN warning of a growing humanitarian crisis for the people of Gaza, many fear that another armed conflict is imminent. Six months after the end of fighting, VICE News returns to the region to investigate the progress on reconstruction.
In part one, VICE News correspondent Danny Gold returns to Shija'iyya, the neighborhood that bore the brunt of last summer's fighting, and investigates how the closure of the Rafah crossing and demolition of the underground tunnels to Egypt has impacted Gaza's fragile economy.

Arabs Got Talent merupakan sebuah ajang pencarian bakat dari berbagai belahan tanah Arab.
Bocah Gaza yang kesehariannya diiringi dengan kekejaman teroris Israel ini berusia antara 12 hingga 16 tahun. Mereka berlatih nasyid di satu-satunya sekolah musik di Gaza. Sekolah musik tersebut bernama Edward Said National Conservatory of Music. Sebagai salah satu upaya rehabilitasi untuk anak-anak Gaza dari kerasnya penindasan bangsa Israel. Ratusan ikan pari jenis Mobula secara misteri terdampar di pantai Gaza, Palestin. Peristiwa ini menjadi berkah tersendiri bagi warga Gaza yang merana akibat sekatan negara zionis Israel.
Dalam video ini, dilaporkan Daily Mail, seorang nelayan bernama Eyad Almadoun mengaku terkejut melihat pemandangan tersebut. Dia berkata, ikan pari ini terakhir dilihat di pantai Gaza enam tahun lalu.
Dia berkata, biasanya warga Gaza mendapatkan ikan ini dari Mesir yang dihantar melalui terowong bawah tanah. Harganya juga sangat mahal.
Dia berkata, ini bukan kali pertama ikan terdampar di pantai tersebut. Sehari sebelumnya, sebanyak 220 ekor ikan terdampar di pantai dan dia yakin esok ikan yang terdampar akan lebih banyak lagi.
"Hari ini Tuhan menyediakannya untuk kami," kata dia.
Ikan pari Mobula ini mempunyai ciri sama dengan ikan pari manta. Mobula boleh mencapai panjang hingga lima meter dan berat lebih daripada 76 kilogram. Sekilo ikan jenis ini dijual di Gaza dengan harga enam atau tujuh shekel.
Ramai-ramai warga Gaza memotong ikan-ikan tersebut dan mengangkutnya menggunakan kereta tolak. "Kini baik orang kaya dan miskin boleh memasak ikan ini dan memakannya dengan nasi atau tomato," kata Almadoun.

Egypt Travel Guide - Egypt (Arabic: مصر; officially, the Arab Republic of Egypt) is in north-eastern Africa with its capital located in its largest city, Cairo. Egypt also extends into Asia by virtue of holding the Sinai Peninsula. Egypt is bordered by Israel and the Gaza Strip to the north-east, by Sudan to the south and by Libya to the west. The country is bounded by the Mediterranean and Red Seas (to the north and east respectively) and geographically dominated both by the Nile River and its fertile well-watered valley, and by the Eastern and Western deserts.
Egypt is perhaps best known as the home of the ancient Egyptian civilization, with its temples, hieroglyphs, mummies, and - visible above all - its pyramids. Less well-known is Egypt's medieval heritage, courtesy of Coptic Christianity and Islam - ancient churches, monasteries and mosques punctuate the Egyptian landscape. Egypt stimulates the imagination of western tourists like few other countries and is probably one of the most popular tourist destinations world-wide.
The regularity and richness of the annual Nile River flood, coupled with semi-isolation provided by deserts to the east and west, allowed for the development of one of the world's great civilizations. A unified kingdom arose around 3200 B.C. and a series of dynasties ruled in Egypt for the next three millennia. The last native dynasty fell to the Persians in 341 B.C., who in turn were replaced by the Greeks, Romans, and Byzantines. It was the Arabs who introduced Islam and the Arabic language in the 7th century and who ruled for the next six centuries. A local military caste, the Mamluks, took control about 1250 and continued to govern after the conquest of Egypt by the Ottoman Turks in 1517. Following the completion of the Suez Canal in 1869, Egypt became an important world transportation hub, but also fell heavily into debt. Ostensibly to protect its investments, Britain seized control of Egypt's government in 1882, but nominal allegiance to the Ottoman Empire continued until 1914. Partially independent from the UK in 1922. The completion of the Aswan High Dam in 1971 and the resultant Lake Nasser have altered the time-honored place of the Nile River in agriculture and the ecology of Egypt. A rapidly growing population (the largest in the Arab world), limited arable land, and dependence on the Nile all continue to overtax resources and stress society. The government has struggled to prepare the economy for the new millennium through economic reform and massive investment in communications and physical infrastructure.

What I learned there was how to attract the publics attention, generate and, increase interest, and assimilate information. All this I use as tools to describe, explain and deepen the interest in the sites that we visit. From my experience, I have learned that in this way, the Holy Land becomes more than just history, and that the large stones that we see scattered about in dissaray, join together one by one until they become - a Byzantine Church. This also happens when I lead a group of Pilgrims in the Steps of Jesus. We climb to the peak of Mount Precipice, "glide" over the land to the Sea of Galilee, land on the water and "see" the miracle which enfolds before us. This is a many faceted experience. Not only history which you will remember and cherish, but an experience which I hope will be inplanted in your hearts and minds, and will accompany you all the days of your life.

Gaza International Airport is finally opened.
After years of negotiations, fund-raising and hope, the Palestinian people are moving one step closer to nationhood.
Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat was to greet the first arrival, a plane carrying government officials from Cairo.
Last minute preparations and security checks were still being carried out hours before the first plane was due to arrive.
Gaza International Airport was officially opened by Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat as he welcomed the first plane to land.
Arafat will fly on his presidential plane for the first time out of his homeland to Paris to meet with French President Jacques Chirac.
Until now, Arafat has had to drive to Egypt, where his plane was kept, and fly on from there.
Palestine Airlines, with a small fleet that includes one Boeing 727, will begin direct flights to Jordan, Egypt and Morocco next week.
But for now all attention was on the Egypt Air plane - the first arrival at the new airport.
Despite its shortcomings, many Palestinians consider the airport a big step toward independence.

Palestinian officials said most for the equipment was being held up at the Israeli shipping port of Ashdod. The opening of their own seaport is next on the Palestinian wish list and was promised under the Wye agreement.
Civil aviation contracts with other carriers are in the works and expanded service plans include weekly flights to Cyprus and Japan.
The airport opening had been held up for two years because of disputes between Israel and Arafat's autonomous government over Israel's security role.
Israel will have a say over who and what enters Gaza, but the Israeli monitors will operate discretely, behind one-way mirrors, as they do now at two other crossings into autonomous Palestinian areas.
Israel will not interfere with departures from the airport.
The airport protocol was signed last week, as part of the Wye River peace deal signed last month by Israel and the Palestinians.
For those living in the small, overcrowded Gaza Strip, which is ringed by the Mediterranean on one side and by barbed wire on the other three, it may help ease the
ever-present feeling of being trapped.
In the past, Palestinians wanting to fly abroad needed permission to enter Israel and fly out of the international airport near Tel Aviv.
Israel rarely granted permission, however, forcing Palestinians to travel through Israeli-controlled land routes to Egypt or Jordan to catch flights.

In 2000 I became a registered liscenced tourist guide.
My dedication in life is to pass on the ancient history of the Holy Land.
Following upon many years of travel around the world, which was highlighted by a very exciting emotional and soul-searching meeting with the Dalai Lama, I realized that I had a mission. To pass on the the history of the Holy Land, its religions, and in particular, the birth and development of Christianity.
In order to fulfill this "calling" in the best way possible, I studied in depth, visited, and personally experienced each and every important site of the ancient Christians. I studied for and received my first bachelors degree in the ancient history of the Holy Land, and am presently completing my studies for my second degree.(Masters)
Parralel to my studies, and in order to earn a living, I was employed for many years in advertising. What I learned there was how to attract the publics attention, generate and, increase interest, and assimilate information. All this I use as tools to describe, explain and deepen the interest in the sites that we visit. From my experience, I have learned that in this way, the Holy Land becomes more than just history, and that the large stones that we see scattered about in dissaray, join together one by one until they become - a Byzantine Church. This also happens when I lead a group of Pilgrims in the Steps of Jesus. We climb to the peak of Mount Precipice, "glide" over the land to the Sea of Galilee, land on the water and "see" the miracle which enfolds before us. This is a many faceted experience. Not only history which you will remember and cherish, but an experience which I hope will be inplanted in your hearts and minds, and will accompany you all the days of your life.

In order to fulfill this "calling" in the best way possible, I studied in depth, visited, and personally experienced each and every important site of the ancient Christians. I studied for and received my first bachelors degree in the ancient history of the Holy Land, and am presently completing my studies for my second degree.(Masters)
Parralel to my studies, and in order to earn a living, I was employed for many years in advertising. dr.Emad Mansur (Dokter Spesialis Anak) mengisahkan, setiap hari para pasien memadati Pusat Layanan Kesehatan Jabalia Gaza utara dan mayoritasnya anak-anak dan wanita, dengan kian ketat blokade Israel atas Gaza mempersempit ruang gerak bahkan sangat kesulitan untuk mendapatkan obat-obatan khususnya bantuan dari NGO Luar, sedangkan keluhan pasien dengan penyakit yang mereka derita, kadang tidak mendapatkan obat-obatan, jika bertepatan dengan adanya stok obat-obatan di gudang pasti kami berikan, akan tetapi jika tidak ada obat-obatan sesuai dengan penyakit mereka ya kami hanya memberikan resep obat saja, permasalahnnya mayoritas dari pasien kami berasal dari keluarga Fakir yang benar-benar tidak punya kemampuan untuk membeli obat di apotik, tidak sedikit dari pasien yang setelah menjalani pemeriksaan dengan bermodal resep dokter mereka menuju ke NGO Lokal di Gaza untuk meminta bantuan agar mereka dapat membeli obat, jika tidak ada ya penyakit mereka kian parah, keluh dr.Emad (dr.Spesialis Anak) yang iklas dibayar perbulan 300 USD / perbulan.
Pada hari ini alhamdulillah kami mendapatkan bantuan obat-obatan dari Yayasan DPU Daarut Tauhiid Indonesia, sangat bermanfaat bagi para pasien kami, semoga Allah SWT senantiasa memberikan keberkahan buat para donatur DPU DT dan juga kepada teman2 serta ketua DPU DT.
Obat-obatan yang kami terima dapat bertahan selama 2 bulan dengan jumlah pasien 800 Orang pasien Gaza Utara yang dapat menerima obat-obatan ini.
Selain di Pusat Layanan Kesehatan, DPU DT juga menyalurkan bantuan obat-obatan ke Rumah Sakit terbesar di Gaza, dimana Rumah sakit ini miliki pemerintah Palestina yang bernama RS.Shifa Gaza City, di RS.Shifa lebih banyak DPU DT salurkan berupa injeks dan cairan lainnya, ada juga kapsul dan tablet serta crim.
Jenis Bantuan Obat-obatan dari DPU DT untuk Gaza Palestina, adalah :
- Cairan suntikan pembiusan untuk operasi kecil dan operasi besar.
- Syrup untuk anak-anak.
- Cairan Injeksi anti Bakteri.
- Injeksi penghilang rasa nyeri pasca operasi.
- Obat untuk anak, bayi dan ibu hamil.
- Tablet infeksi saluran pernafasan atau ISPA.
- Obat darah tinggi.
- Obat pembasmi penyakit kulit atau Kusta.
- Serta Obat anti biotik dan obat penting lainnya..
