WEEK 1: Receiving
Beginning the Transformation. Every recruit begins their transformation into a Marine on the same iconic yellow footprints. Tens of thousands of Marines have stood there before them, but as the recruits look around they know that not every recruit who stands next to them will be standing with them at graduation. To become a member of the world's finest fighting force, they must first make it through the world's most demanding recruit training and earn the title Marine.
It all starts as a Drill Instructor explains the Uniform Code of Military Justice. Then, recruits are issued gear and must undergo a number of medical evaluations as well as perform the Initial Strength Test before they are ordered to report to the barracks and meet their permanent Drill Instructors for the first time.
Marine Corps Recruit Training is a challenge few experience -and even fewer complete.

Marine Sniper Training - The First 2 Weeks of USMC Scout Sniper Training.
United States Marine Corps Scout Sniper (MOS 0317, formerly 8541) is a secondary MOS (Military Occupational Specialty) designator of U.S. Marine Corps infantrymen and reconnaissance Marines that have graduated from a U.S. Marine Corps Scout Sniper School. Scout Snipers must earn the rank of Lance Corporal, be selected by their battalion to join the scout-sniper platoon, and complete an approved scout-sniper course in order to receive this designation.

Discipline, one of the hallmarks of a Marine, is a trait instilled early and often in training, and the recruits of Hotel Company, 2nd Recruit Training Battalion, learned it comes in many forms March 5, 2014, on Marine Corps Recruit Depot Parris Island, S.C. This is the USMC Silent Drill Platoon when they visited the US Marine Air Station in Beaufort, SC. I happened to be there with my camera.
The exhibition was scheduled to be held on the parade field. However, it was moved inside a jet fighter hanger due to rain.
Shot with one camera (GY-HD100) in a fixed location. The only editing was to add a title page and take out a few camera movements. Hope you enjoy.

The United States Marine Corps (USMC) is a branch of the United States Armed Forces responsible for providing power projection from the sea, using the mobility of the United States Navy to deliver combined-arms task forces rapidly. It is one of seven uniformed services of the United States. In the civilian leadership structure of the United States military, the Marine Corps is a component of the United States Department of the Navy, often working closely with U.S. naval forces for training, transportation, and logistic purposes; however, in the military leadership structure the Marine Corps is a separate branch.
Captain Samuel Nicholas formed two battalions of Continental Marines on 10 November 1775 in Philadelphia as naval infantry. Since then, the mission of the Marine Corps has evolved with changing military doctrine and American foreign policy. The Marine Corps has served in every American armed conflict and attained prominence in the 20th century when its theories and practices of amphibious warfare proved prescient and ultimately formed the cornerstone of the Pacific campaign of World War II. By the mid-20th century, the Marine Corps had become the dominant theorist and practitioner of amphibious warfare. Its ability to rapidly respond on short notice to expeditionary crises gives it a strong role in the implementation and execution of American foreign policy.

This is the USMC Silent Drill Platoon when they visited the US Marine Air Station in Beaufort, SC. I happened to be there with my camera. The exhibition was scheduled to be held on the parade field. However, it was moved inside a jet fighter hanger due to rain. Shot with one camera (GY-HD100) in a fixed location. The only editing was to add a title page and take out a few camera movements. Hope you enjoy. -

USMC Afghanistan Deployment - Minute a Day for 4 months
I videotaped a lot of stuff every day during my second deployment to Afghanistan with 2D CEB. Then I edited it all down to about a minute per day so you can see how fucking stupid this deployment was. Be warned, it's boring. There's no combat in this one. A few Taylor Swift time lapse minutes though, which is nice. I'll specify the minute markers for those eventually. About half way through it gets pretty depressing as we lost 3 Marines, and I included a small memorial/moment of silence for them, so also be prepared for that. -

I videotaped a lot of stuff every day during my second deployment to Afghanistan with 2D CEB. Then I edited it all down to about a minute per day so you can see how fucking stupid this deployment was.
Be warned, it's boring. There's no combat in this one. A few Taylor Swift time lapse minutes though, which is nice. I'll specify the minute markers for those eventually.
About half way through it gets pretty depressing as we lost 3 Marines, and I included a small memorial/moment of silence for them, so also be prepared for that.
