It's a move-in day tradition at Vassar. First: we convince a bunch of 2nd-, 3rd-, and 4th-year students that it would really be FUN to come back to campus early and help the first-years move all their stuff in. Second: They actually do it. Third: It actually IS fun! Welcome, class of 2019!

A détournement of sorts. A hijacking. A still-image narrative project I did for a class. The video and audio content are not supposed to match. Essentially, the visual component is filled with images that would work with a different voice over, a much more positive one. If you muted the audio, you should be able to somewhat imagine a "proper" guide to the school. The audio completely twists everything, keeping a relaxed tone but (somewhat) vicious content. The ratio of likes to dislikes will sort of prove my point. Now in its 30th year, Vassar's Exploring Transfer program has given over a thousand community college students the opportunity to experience a residential liberal arts college. One of this year's ET professors, Yolanda Martin, was herself an ET student over a decade ago. She went on to graduate from Vassar, earned her PhD in sociology, and is now a college professor in New York City.
