Lisa Gade reviews the Nokia Lumia 1520 Windows 8 smartphone. This phone has a few exciting firsts for Windows Phone: it's the first with a quad core 2.2GHz CPU and the first with a full HD 1920 x 1080 display. It's also a very large smartphone with a 6" IPS display with Nokia ClearBack technology and glove-friendly touch. It has an excellent 20 megapixel rear camera with f/2.4 Carl Zeiss lens and a dual LED flash. The Lumia 1520 has LTE 4G, 2 gigs of RAM, 16 gigs of storage (AT&T; model, overseas you may get 32 gigs) and a microSD card slot. The phone is exclusive to AT&T; in the US and it sells for $199 on contract and $540 to $585 off contract. It has dual band WiFi 802.11ac, Bluetooth 4.0, NFC and a front 1.2MP camera. Most new-device launches go the same way: usually the press gets review units before they're widely available, and we get to use them for a few days -or a week if we're lucky- as we work on our review.
Then press day arrives. The embargo on media coverage lifts, and everyone posts their reviews and videos at the same time. It's a huge frenzy, commenters go nuts, and it's a giant explosion of frantic opinion-sharing activity.
For about ... a day. And then it all goes away. Sure, there's followup coverage as people find bugs and hidden features, but after that initial blast, not many people revisit the device to see how it feels a few weeks or months later, because everyone's already focused on the next big deal coming down the pipe.
So let's do something about that. Let's see how we feel about devices when they're not shiny and new anymore. This is After The Buzz.

Lisa Gade reviews the Nokia Lumia 1520 Windows 8 smartphone. This phone has a few exciting firsts for Windows Phone: it's the first with a quad core 2.2GHz CPU and the first with a full HD 1920 x 1080 display. It's also a very large smartphone with a 6" IPS display with Nokia ClearBack technology and glove-friendly touch. It has an excellent 20 megapixel rear camera with f/2.4 Carl Zeiss lens and a dual LED flash. The Lumia 1520 has LTE 4G, 2 gigs of RAM, 16 gigs of storage (AT&T; model, overseas you may get 32 gigs) and a microSD card slot. The phone is exclusive to AT&T; in the US and it sells for $199 on contract and $540 to $585 off contract. It has dual band WiFi 802.11ac, Bluetooth 4.0, NFC and a front 1.2MP camera.
