It was a striking scene in the 410th District Court of Montgomery County today as an 18 year long case was finally brought to a close. In the court of Judge K. Michael Mayes, Neal Hampton Robbins has been declared not guilty of the crimes he was accused of. In 1998, he was arrested in connection to the death of 17-month-old infant Tristen Rivet and convicted of Capital Murder in 1999. Now, however, that conviction has been overturned. This new ruling was spurred by the recension of the testimony of the previous Associate Harris County Medical Examiner, Patricia Moore, which had been the lynchpin of the prosecution’s case nearly two decades ago. Without the benefit of this false testimony, the case against Robbins fell through based on insufficient evidence.

History
Originally, the hotel chain was founded in 1984 as Hampton Inn, a budget hotel by the Holiday Corporation. The first hotel was a two-story, exterior-entrance building with 128 guest rooms located in Memphis, Tennessee. After some financial difficulties, in late 1989 Holiday Corporation prepared to sell its hallmark Holiday Inn hotels and started the holding company Promus Hotel Corporation which included, Hampton Inn, Embassy Suites and Homewood Suites. With this change, Promus re-invested in the Hampton Inn brand and began its change from a budget hotel to a middle-market hotel to compete with their freshly sold former brand. The hotel chain was the first of the mid-price hotels to offer free continental breakfast and the first to introduce the "100 percent satisfaction guarantee." By 1990, the Hampton Inn chain included over 220 properties with more than 27,000 rooms. Hampton Inn and Suites was introduced in 1995, which featured two-room suite style hotel rooms complete with living room and kitchen areas.

This afternoon, we decided to give the Summon feature a try. We reread the documentation and watched a few YouTube videos just to make sure we understood how Summons worked. We used the app on my iPhone. We also set up 4 cameras: Dashcam, camera pointed at front of car, camera on driver headrest, and a camera on a tripod in the driveway. First we tried to back out of the garage (Reverse). We expected the garage door to open since we have HomeLink configured for our Right Bay in the car. However, it didn't. We fixed that with a simple setting on the car. We tried again, and this time the car opened the door and started to back out. Unfortunately, it only backed out a few feet. It took issuing Summon again 3 more times to get the car all the way out. We double checked the other settings associated with Summon but didn't see an adjustment that would explain the behavior we saw. We also tried pulling into the garage (Forward). Again, the garage door opened just fine and the wheels seemed to move a bit, but the garage never tried to go forward. Huh?!? I assume user error on our part. Also, Don did more reading and says we need to try again using the key fob. Afterward, we drove about 30 miles to a new Lidl grocery store in Sanford, NC. They only opened on 6/15. North Carolina is the first state to get one of these Germany-owned stores with more to come. We were impressed with the clean, spacious store and the fact that they had quite a few organic items. This afternoon, we decided to give the Summon feature a try. We reread the documentation and watched a few YouTube videos just to make sure we understood how Summons worked. We used the app on my iPhone. We also set up 4 cameras: Dashcam, camera pointed at front of car, camera on driver headrest, and a camera on a tripod in the driveway. First we tried to back out of the garage (Reverse). We expected the garage door to open since we have HomeLink configured for our Right Bay in the car. However, it didn't. We fixed that with a simple setting on the car. We tried again, and this time the car opened the door and started to back out. Unfortunately, it only backed out a few feet. This afternoon, we decided to give the Summon feature a try. We reread the documentation and watched a few YouTube videos just to make sure we understood how Summons worked. First we tried to back out of the garage (Reverse). We expected the garage door to open since we have HomeLink configured for our Right Bay in the car. However, it didn't. It took issuing Summon again 3 more times to get the car all the way out. We double checked the other settings associated with Summon but didn't see an adjustment that would explain the behavior we saw. We also tried pulling into the garage (Forward). Again, the garage door opened just fine and the wheels seemed to move a bit, but the garage never tried to go forward. Huh?!? I assume user error on our part. Also, Don did more reading and says we need to try again using the key fob.
Afterward, we drove about 30 miles to a new Lidl grocery store in Sanford, NC. They only opened on 6/15. North Carolina is the first state to get one of these Germany-owned stores with more to come. We were impressed with the clean, spacious store and the fact that they had quite a few organic items.
It poured as we were about to leave, so Don and I enjoyed a soft pretzel and a lot of butter;-)

Day 17 Summons and a Trip to Lidl
This afternoon, we decided to give the Summon feature a try. We reread the documentation and watched a few YouTube videos just to make sure we understood how Summons worked. We used the app on my iPhone. We also set up 4 cameras: Dashcam, camera pointed at front of car, camera on driver headrest, and a camera on a tripod in the driveway. First we tried to back out of the garage (Reverse). We expected the garage door to open since we have HomeLink configured for our Right Bay in the car. However, it didn't. We fixed that with a simple setting on the car. We tried again, and this time the car opened the door and started to back out. Unfortunately, it only backed out a few feet. Again, the garage door opened just fine and the wheels seemed to move a bit, but the garage never tried to go forward. Huh?!? I assume user error on our part. Also, Don did more reading and says we need to try again using the key fob.
Afterward, we drove about 30 miles to a new Lidl grocery store in Sanford, NC. They only opened on 6/15. North Carolina is the first state to get one of these Germany-owned stores with more to come. We were impressed with the clean, spacious store and the fact that they had quite a few organic items.
It poured as we were about to leave, so Don and I enjoyed a soft pretzel and a lot of butter;-)

Commemorative Air Force B-25 "Miss Mitchell" - 5/14/17 at KTTA
Now *THIS* was a different sort of flight for me! This was my first flight on board a B-25, more specifically, the Minnesota Wing of the CAF's B-25J, "Miss Mitchell"! I had been waiting for a moment like this for a VERY long time, so when I found out the CAF was touring around with "Miss Mitchell", P-51 Mustang "Red Nose", and SBD Dauntless "Lady in Blue" (the latter two of the Dixie Wing), I had to hop to it. The fly-in was at Raleigh Executive Jetport, Sanford, North Carolina, 5/14/17. In the video, you'll hear about the history of the airplane, checklist, run up, takeoff (in jump seat), inside the nose (bombardier), and landing (turret seat). Flight to Sanford, Maine (KSFM) for Breakfast - Flying N8119H (3/10/13)
This was the second annual Sanford Breakfast Meet-Up at the Cockpit Cafe at KSFM! We had 6 planes and 11 people just like last year! When I got to Beverly Airport (KBVY) to leave early in the morning the ceiling was low but flyable but also the planes were iced over! So the whole group flying up to SFM had to spend half an hour deicing the planes. So we left a little bit late off of out schedule however we made good time getting up to Sanford, Maine. We took off using runway 34 at Beverly and then made a right turn out to head direct to SFM. On the way there, myself and other pilots tuned into 122.75 (air-to-air frequnecy) and talked on the way up there. I got a transition through Portsmouth's airspace so we could get past the clouds and into the clear sunlight! Once past PSM, we transfere...

In 1998, he was arrested in connection to the death of 17-month-old infant Tristen Rivet and convicted of Capital Murder in 1999. Now, however, that conviction has been overturned. This new ruling was spurred by the recension of the testimony of the previous Associate Harris County Medical Examiner, Patricia Moore, which had been the lynchpin of the prosecution’s case nearly two decades ago. Without the benefit of this false testimony, the case against Robbins fell through based on insufficient evidence.

This afternoon, we decided to give the Summon feature a try. We reread the documentation and watched a few YouTube videos just to make sure we understood how Summons worked. We used the app on my iPhone. We also set up 4 cameras: Dashcam, camera pointed at front of car, camera on driver headrest, and a camera on a tripod in the driveway. First we tried to back out of the garage (Reverse). We expected the garage door to open since we have HomeLink configured for our Right Bay in the car. However, it didn't. We fixed that with a simple setting on the car. We tried again, and this time the car opened the door and started to back out. Unfortunately, it only backed out a few feet. It took issuing Summon again 3 more times to get the car all the way out. We double checked the other settings associated with Summon but didn't see an adjustment that would explain the behavior we saw. We also tried pulling into the garage (Forward). Again, the garage door opened just fine and the wheels seemed to move a bit, but the garage never tried to go forward. Huh?!? I assume user error on our part. Also, Don did more reading and says we need to try again using the key fob.
Afterward, we drove about 30 miles to a new Lidl grocery store in Sanford, NC. They only opened on 6/15. North Carolina is the first state to get one of these Germany-owned stores with more to come. We were impressed with the clean, spacious store and the fact that they had quite a few organic items.
It poured as we were about to leave, so Don and I enjoyed a soft pretzel and a lot of butter;-)

This was the second annual Sanford Breakfast Meet-Up at the Cockpit Cafe at KSFM! We had 6 planes and 11 people just like last year! When I got to Beverly Airport (KBVY) to leave early in the morning the ceiling was low but flyable but also the planes were iced over! So the whole group flying up to SFM had to spend half an hour deicing the planes. So we left a little bit late off of out schedule however we made good time getting up to Sanford, Maine. We took off using runway 34 at Beverly and then made a right turn out to head direct to SFM. On the way there, myself and other pilots tuned into 122.75 (air-to-air frequnecy) and talked on the way up there. I got a transition through Portsmouth's airspace so we could get past the clouds and into the clear sunlight! Once past PSM, we transfered over to SFM CTAF where we received the weather on the AWOS frequency and then contacted the frequency notifying the frequency our positions. It was VERY busy at Sanford so we had to figure out how to wiggle ourselves into the busy pattern. We overflew the airfield and did a teardrop entry into left traffic for runway 32. Then we made a full stop and parked at the restaurant parking where we met the other pilots and passengers part of the meet-up. We I landed two of the planes were already down before me and we were waiting for two more once I was down. We had an Archer, two Warriors, a PiperSport, and a C172SP G1000. Once we got inside to the cafe it was very busy so we had to wait for some tables to open up so we could all sit down. The breakfast we GREAT there! After eating we all went back out to the ramp for pictures and then headed out back to Beverly. We decided to get a flight following back due to the amount of low clouds south of Portsmouth, New Hampshire. It was also very busy at Beverly too and we actually had to do a go-around due to a Warrior still on the runway when we were on final for Runway 9, which we switched to due to the winds. So after the go-around I made right traffic and made a full stop landing. There was also another go-around after mine, that's how busy it got! Then we taxied back to Beverly Flight Center parking. It was a great meet-up and some great weather along with it! Can't wait for next year's breakfast meet-up because I'll be flying up there solo! Enjoy the video!

Once we got inside to the cafe it was very busy so we had to wait for some tables to open up so we could all sit down. The breakfast we GREAT there! After eating we all went back out to the ramp for pictures and then headed out back to Beverly. We decided to get a flight following back due to the amount of low clouds south of Portsmouth, New Hampshire. It was also very busy at Beverly too and we actually had to do a go-around due to a Warrior still on the runway when we were on final for Runway 9, which we switched to due to the winds. So after the go-around I made right traffic and made a full stop landing. There was also another go-around after mine, that's how busy it got! Then we taxied back to Beverly Flight Center parking. It was a great meet-up and some great weather along with it! Can't wait for next year's breakfast meet-up because I'll be flying up there solo! Enjoy the video!
