However South Korea is now insisting that the flag be banned from any international sport game since the flag was used by the Imperial Japanese military forces during the wartime. They claim that the Japanese committed war crimes under the flag during WWII and thus must be treated as equivalent to Hakenkreuz, the flag of Nazis.
However, the fact is that Hakenkreuz was merely a flag of some political party and never represented Germany or German people in toto originally. On the other hand, the design of the Rising Sun Flag had been used by the Japanese in their daily life since much earlier times and the flag is still being used by Japan as a nation officially. The flag represents the Japanese people as a whole even if their history contains both light and shadow. Won't a denial of a flag of a nation lead to a denial of the whole nation including its entire history and people? Isn't this the exact reason why national flags of any country must be treated with the highest respect always? Don't the Japanese have the due right to demand the same respect to one of their national flags and confront any form of trials to disgrace it?
(Sometimes, hatred is directed also at the national flags of other countries, especially the flag of the United States, in South Korea. )

Recently in South Korea there was a series of soccer games "East Asian Football Federation Cup" "EAFF." The games where held at Jamsil Olympic Stadium where anti-Japanese banners were hoisted when the South Korean team played the Japanese team.
One of the hateful banners read:

"'A nation that forgets its history has no future."
Another banner had a large image of a South Korean hero Admiral Yi Sun-shin, who is credited with defeating a Japanese fleet in the 1500's. A hero to Koreans understandably since he is a military icon.
The third banner was the image of An Jung-geun. He is a hero in Korea for one accomplishment of his, he was an assassin. The murderer assassinated Japan's prime minister Ito Hirobumi in 1909. What other nation has an assassin as their hero?
John Wilkes Booth assassinated United States President Abraham Lincoln in 1865 in revenge for defeating the Confederate States of America during the American Civil War 1861 - 1865.
Is the assassin John Wilkes Booth a hero in the United States? No.
Is he a hero to the people in southern portion of the United States (the former Confederate States of America)? No.

These banners remained in place throughout the first half of the game. This was a clear violation of the International Federation of Association Football's ban on displaying political messages during international matches.

At the same game another malcontent unfurled a huge Japanese Rising Sun flag in an attempt to invoke negative emotions.
Editorial writer for The Korean Times Kim Jong-chan wrote an editorial claiming that flag is equal to the Nazi flag. Really? The Nazi flag represented one German government for 13 years. The Rising Sun Flag has been Japan's naval flag for nearly 150 years.
The United States Navy lost a lot of lives and tonnage in the face of the Rising Sun flag, yet today there is no animosity in the USA towards that flag. In a link second to the last below there is a photograph of the Rising Sun flag taken in 2011 at the Japanese Imperial Navy museum with members of the United States Navy sitting while a former member of the Japanese Imperial Navy addressed the group. Where is the hate there? There was no hate because there is no hate between the two former adversaries now trusted allies and friends. Better description: Two mature nations behaving properly.

If the Koreans are looking for a flag to hate perhaps it should be the South Korean flag where between 1948 and 1980 numerous massacres were committed by South Korean military / authorities against South Koreans.

At the games the Japanese soccer players were the champions. On the scoreboard the last place team was listed on top, while the champion team, the Japanese was listed last on the bottom. Another example of immaturity.

The Italian company in Milan a maker of iPhone, iPad, iPod cases and other devices recently issued an apology on their Facebook page for one of their cases. The so-called offending case illustrated a flag known as Naval Ensign of Japan, the Rising Sun Flag, Kyokujitsu-ki, currently the flag of Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force.

The company received many complaints from Koreans claiming seeing that flag was insensitive and equivalent to the Nazi flag. Huh? Why the controversy over the flag? The Korean peninsula was part of Japan for about thirty-five years from 1910 to 1945 (Korea was annexed by Japan in 1910 - "the Japan-Korea Treaty of 1910"). Koreans claim the Japanese were brutal during this period while the Japanese respond Koreans were elevated out of poverty, built infrastructure, educational institutions, and other improvements. What happened during those thirty-five years is a subject of debate between the two.
Currently some Koreans use anything Japanese as a vehicle to express hate as illustrated with this iPhone case. The Koreans complaining see evil in the Japanese flag because of the thirty-five year history. Now take this west across the Pacific Ocean to the United States of America, the American flag, the Stars and Stripes, Old Glory.
For about one-hundred years under the flag of the United States of America, Native Americans (Indians) suffered. Lands were stolen, massacres, broken treaties, children forced and shipped off to boarding schools. The Native Americans have around 100 years of bad history with the American flag as oppose to the Korean 35 year relationship with the Japanese flag.
Yet Native Americans harbor no hate to the American flag. There are many Native American reservations in the United States all of which proudly display and wave the flag of these here United States of America. Native Americans have served in the American military under and for that flag in many wars.
When South Koreans look at the flag of North Korea, the Hermit Kingdom, do they also see a Nazi flag there? Japanese forces left the Korean peninsula sixty-eight years ago. While recent history with North Korea has been hostile: artillery shells hitting a South Korean island, sinking of a South Korean vessel, shooting tourist and the list continues of North Korean crimes against South Koreans. Why only the hate towards Japan?
Under the United States flag two atomic bombs were dropped on Japan. How come today the Japanese do not find the American flag to be offensive?
Back to claiming the Japanese Naval flag is the same as the Nazi flag: During World War Two in Nazi-occupied Lithuania a Japanese diplomat Mr. Chiune Sugihara was responsible for saving the lives of nearly six-thousands Jews from extermination.

But he was blamed for that stupid behavior, then he began to claim he had done the monkey-celebration because he had felt disgusted at a Rising Sun Flag "during the game". In short, it is just a child-like excuse.

Rising Sun Flag
The Rising Sun Flag (旭日旗, Kyokujitsu-ki) design was originally used by feudal warlords in Japan during the Edo period. On May 15, 1870, as a policy of the Meiji government, it was adopted as the war flag of the Imperial Japanese Army, and on October 7, 1889, it was adopted as the naval ensign of the Imperial Japanese Navy. It is still used in Japan as a symbol of tradition and good fortune, and is incorporated into commercial products and advertisements. The flag is currently flown by the Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force and a modified version is flown by the Japan Ground Self-Defense Force. It is viewed as a symbol associated with Japanese imperialism in the early 20th century in South Korea,China, and by some veterans in the United States due to its use by Japan's military forces during that period.
Design
The design is similar to the flag of Japan, which has a red circle in the center signifying the sun. The difference compared to the flag of Japan is that the Rising Sun Flag has extra sun rays (16 for the ensign) exemplifying the name of Japan as "The Land of the Rising Sun". The Imperial Japanese Army first adopted the Rising Sun Flag in 1870. The Imperial Japanese Army and the Imperial Japanese Navy both had a version of the flag; the naval ensign was off-set, with the red sun closer to the lanyard side, while the army's version (which was part of the regimental colors) was centered. The flag was used until Japan's surrender in World War II during August 1945. After the establishment of the Japan Self-Defense Forces in 1954, the flag was re-adopted and approved by the GHQ. The flag with 16 rays is today the ensign of the Maritime Self-Defense Force while the Ground Self-Defense Force uses an 8-ray version.

In 2016, Korea was rated as the world's safest country to live in, with the lowest crime rate.

The games where held at Jamsil Olympic Stadium where anti-Japanese banners were hoisted when the South Korean team played the Japanese team. One of the hateful banners read: - "'A nation that forgets its history has no future." Another banner had a large image of a South Korean hero Admiral Yi Sun-shin, who is credited with defeating a Japanese fleet in the 1500's. A hero to Koreans understandably since he is a military icon. The third banner was the image of An Jung-geun. He is a hero in Korea for one accomplishment of his, he was an assassin. The murderer assassinated Japan's prime minister Ito Hirobumi in 1909. What other nation has an assassin as their hero? John Wilkes Booth assassinated United States President Abraham Lincoln in 1865 in revenge for defeating the Confederate States of America during the American Civil War 1861 - 1865. Is the assassin John Wilkes Booth a hero in the United States? No. Is he a hero to the people in southern portion of the United States (the former Confederate States of America)? No. - These banners remained in place throughout the first half of the game. This was a clear violation of the International Federation of Association Football's ban on displaying political messages during international matches. - At the same game another malcontent unfurled a huge Japanese Rising Sun flag in an attempt to invoke negative emotions. Editorial writer for The Korean Times Kim Jong-chan wrote an editorial claiming that flag is equal to the Nazi flag. Really? The Nazi flag represented one German government for 13 years. The Rising Sun Flag has been Japan's naval flag for nearly 150 years. The United States Navy lost a lot of lives and tonnage in the face of the Rising Sun flag, yet today there is no animosity in the USA towards that flag. In a link second to the last below there is a photograph of the Rising Sun flag taken in 2011 at the Japanese Imperial Navy museum with members of the United States Navy sitting while a former member of the Japanese Imperial Navy addressed the group. Where is the hate there? There was no hate because there is no hate between the two former adversaries now trusted allies and friends. Better description: Two mature nations behaving properly. - If the Koreans are looking for a flag to hate perhaps it should be the South Korean flag where between 1948 and 1980 numerous massacres were committed by South Korean military / authorities against South Koreans. - At the games the Japanese soccer players were the champions. On the scoreboard the last place team was listed on top, while the champion team, the Japanese was listed last on the bottom. The so-called offending case illustrated a flag known as Naval Ensign of Japan, the Rising Sun Flag, Kyokujitsu-ki, currently the flag of Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force. - The company received many complaints from Koreans claiming seeing that flag was insensitive and equivalent to the Nazi flag. Huh? Why the controversy over the flag? The Korean peninsula was part of Japan for about thirty-five years from 1910 to 1945 (Korea was annexed by Japan in 1910 - "the Japan-Korea Treaty of 1910"). Koreans claim the Japanese were brutal during this period while the Japanese respond Koreans were elevated out of poverty, built infrastructure, educational institutions, and other improvements. What happened during those thirty-five years is a subject of debate between the two. Currently some Koreans use anything Japanese as a vehicle to express hate as illustrated with this iPhone case. The Koreans complaining see evil in the Japanese flag because of the thirty-five year history. Now take this west across the Pacific Ocean to the United States of America, the American flag, the Stars and Stripes, Old Glory. For about one-hundred years under the flag of the United States of America, Native Americans (Indians) suffered. Lands were stolen, massacres, broken treaties, children forced and shipped off to boarding schools. The Native Americans have around 100 years of bad history with the American flag as oppose to the Korean 35 year relationship with the Japanese flag. Yet Native Americans harbor no hate to the American flag. There are many Native American reservations in the United States all of which proudly display and wave the flag of these here United States of America. Native Americans have served in the American military under and for that flag in many wars. When South Koreans look at the flag of North Korea, the Hermit Kingdom, do they also see a Nazi flag there? Japanese forces left the Korean peninsula sixty-eight years ago. While recent history with North Korea has been hostile: artillery shells hitting a South Korean island, sinking of a South Korean vessel, shooting tourist and the list continues of North Korean crimes against South Koreans. Why only the hate towards Japan? Under the United States flag two atomic bombs were dropped on Japan. How come today the Japanese do not find the American flag to be offensive? At first, Ki said the monkey-celebration had been prepared "before the game" and acknowledged it as an insult to Japanese people in front of Korean newspaper reporters after the game. The Japanese Rising Sun Flag is widely accepted and regarded as another national flag of Japan. Actually it is used as the maritime flag of the Japanese Self-Defense Force still now.

However South Korea is now insisting that the flag be banned from any international sport game since the flag was used by the Imperial Japanese military forces during the wartime. They claim that the Japanese committed war crimes under the flag during WWII and thus must be treated as equivalent to Hakenkreuz, the flag of Nazis.
However, the fact is that Hakenkreuz was merely a flag of some political party and never represented Germany or German people in toto originally. On the other hand, the design of the Rising Sun Flag had been used by the Japanese in their daily life since much earlier times and the flag is still being used by Japan as a nation officially. The flag represents the Japanese people as a whole even if their history contains both light and shadow. Won't a denial of a flag of a nation lead to a denial of the whole nation including its entire history and people? Isn't this the exact reason why national flags of any country must be treated with the highest respect always? Don't the Japanese have the due right to demand the same respect to one of their national flags and confront any form of trials to disgrace it?
(Sometimes, hatred is directed also at the national flags of other countries, especially the flag of the United States, in South Korea. )

Recently in South Korea there was a series of soccer games "East Asian Football Federation Cup" "EAFF." The games where held at Jamsil Olympic Stadium where anti-Japanese banners were hoisted when the South Korean team played the Japanese team.
One of the hateful banners read:

"'A nation that forgets its history has no future."
Another banner had a large image of a South Korean hero Admiral Yi Sun-shin, who is credited with defeating a Japanese fleet in the 1500's. A hero to Koreans understandably since he is a military icon.
The third banner was the image of An Jung-geun. He is a hero in Korea for one accomplishment of his, he was an assassin. The murderer assassinated Japan's prime minister Ito Hirobumi in 1909. What other nation has an assassin as their hero?
John Wilkes Booth assassinated United States President Abraham Lincoln in 1865 in revenge for defeating the Confederate States of America during the American Civil War 1861 - 1865.
Is the assassin John Wilkes Booth a hero in the United States? No.
Is he a hero to the people in southern portion of the United States (the former Confederate States of America)? No.

These banners remained in place throughout the first half of the game. This was a clear violation of the International Federation of Association Football's ban on displaying political messages during international matches.

At the same game another malcontent unfurled a huge Japanese Rising Sun flag in an attempt to invoke negative emotions.
Editorial writer for The Korean Times Kim Jong-chan wrote an editorial claiming that flag is equal to the Nazi flag. Really? The Nazi flag represented one German government for 13 years. The Rising Sun Flag has been Japan's naval flag for nearly 150 years.
The United States Navy lost a lot of lives and tonnage in the face of the Rising Sun flag, yet today there is no animosity in the USA towards that flag. In a link second to the last below there is a photograph of the Rising Sun flag taken in 2011 at the Japanese Imperial Navy museum with members of the United States Navy sitting while a former member of the Japanese Imperial Navy addressed the group. Where is the hate there? There was no hate because there is no hate between the two former adversaries now trusted allies and friends. Better description: Two mature nations behaving properly.

The Italian company in Milan a maker of iPhone, iPad, iPod cases and other devices recently issued an apology on their Facebook page for one of their cases. The so-called offending case illustrated a flag known as Naval Ensign of Japan, the Rising Sun Flag, Kyokujitsu-ki, currently the flag of Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force.

The company received many complaints from Koreans claiming seeing that flag was insensitive and equivalent to the Nazi flag. Huh? Why the controversy over the flag? The Korean peninsula was part of Japan for about thirty-five years from 1910 to 1945 (Korea was annexed by Japan in 1910 - "the Japan-Korea Treaty of 1910"). Koreans claim the Japanese were brutal during this period while the Japanese respond Koreans were elevated out of poverty, built infrastructure, educational institutions, and other improvements. What happened during those thirty-five years is a subject of debate between the two.
Currently some Koreans use anything Japanese as a vehicle to express hate as illustrated with this iPhone case. The Koreans complaining see evil in the Japanese flag because of the thirty-five year history. Now take this west across the Pacific Ocean to the United States of America, the American flag, the Stars and Stripes, Old Glory.
For about one-hundred years under the flag of the United States of America, Native Americans (Indians) suffered. Lands were stolen, massacres, broken treaties, children forced and shipped off to boarding schools. The Native Americans have around 100 years of bad history with the American flag as oppose to the Korean 35 year relationship with the Japanese flag.
Yet Native Americans harbor no hate to the American flag. There are many Native American reservations in the United States all of which proudly display and wave the flag of these here United States of America. Native Americans have served in the American military under and for that flag in many wars.
When South Koreans look at the flag of North Korea, the Hermit Kingdom, do they also see a Nazi flag there? Japanese forces left the Korean peninsula sixty-eight years ago. Why only the hate towards Japan?
Under the United States flag two atomic bombs were dropped on Japan. How come today the Japanese do not find the American flag to be offensive?
Back to claiming the Japanese Naval flag is the same as the Nazi flag: During World War Two in Nazi-occupied Lithuania a Japanese diplomat Mr. Chiune Sugihara was responsible for saving the lives of nearly six-thousands Jews from extermination.

South Korea offended by Japan's victory
Recently in South Korea there was a series of soccer games "East Asian Football Federation Cup" "EAFF." The games where held at Jamsil Olympic Stadium where anti-Japanese banners were hoisted when the South Korean team played the Japanese team. One of the hateful banners read: - "'A nation that forgets its history has no future." Another banner had a large image of a South Korean hero Admiral Yi Sun-shin, who is credited with defeating a Japanese fleet in the 1500's. The Japanese Rising Sun Flag is widely accepted and regarded as another national flag of Japan. Actually it is used as the maritime flag of the Japanese Self-Defense Force still now.

However South Korea is now insisting that the flag be banned from any international sport game since the flag was used by the Imperial Japanese military forces during the wartime. They claim that the Japanese committed war crimes under the flag during WWII and thus must be treated as equivalent to Hakenkreuz, the flag of Nazis.
However, the fact is that Hakenkreuz was merely a flag of some political party and never represented Germany or German people in toto originally. On the other hand, the design of the Rising Sun Flag had been used by the Japanese in their daily life since much earlier times and the flag is still being used by Japan as a nation officially. The flag represents the Japanese people as a whole even if their history contains both light and shadow. Won't a denial of a flag of a nation lead to a denial of the whole nation including its entire history and people? Isn't this the exact reason why national flags of any country must be treated with the highest respect always? Don't the Japanese have the due right to demand the same respect to one of their national flags and confront any form of trials to disgrace it?
(Sometimes, hatred is directed also at the national flags of other countries, especially the flag of the United States, in South Korea. )

Recently in South Korea there was a series of soccer games "East Asian Football Federation Cup" "EAFF." The games where held at Jamsil Olympic Stadium where anti-Japanese banners were hoisted when the South Korean team played the Japanese team.
One of the hateful banners read:

"'A nation that forgets its history has no future."
Another banner had a large image of a South Korean hero Admiral Yi Sun-shin, who is credited with defeating a Japanese fleet in the 1500's. A hero to Koreans understandably since he is a military icon.
The third banner was the image of An Jung-geun. He is a hero in Korea for one accomplishment of his, he was an assassin. The murderer assassinated Japan's prime minister Ito Hirobumi in 1909. What other nation has an assassin as their hero?
John Wilkes Booth assassinated United States President Abraham Lincoln in 1865 in revenge for defeating the Confederate States of America during the American Civil War 1861 - 1865.
Is the assassin John Wilkes Booth a hero in the United States? No.
Is he a hero to the people in southern portion of the United States (the former Confederate States of America)? No.

These banners remained in place throughout the first half of the game. This was a clear violation of the International Federation of Association Football's ban on displaying political messages during international matches.

At the same game another malcontent unfurled a huge Japanese Rising Sun flag in an attempt to invoke negative emotions.
Editorial writer for The Korean Times Kim Jong-chan wrote an editorial claiming that flag is equal to the Nazi flag. Really? The Nazi flag represented one German government for 13 years. The Rising Sun Flag has been Japan's naval flag for nearly 150 years.
The United States Navy lost a lot of lives and tonnage in the face of the Rising Sun flag, yet today there is no animosity in the USA towards that flag. In a link second to the last below there is a photograph of the Rising Sun flag taken in 2011 at the Japanese Imperial Navy museum with members of the United States Navy sitting while a former member of the Japanese Imperial Navy addressed the group. Where is the hate there? There was no hate because there is no hate between the two former adversaries now trusted allies and friends. Better description: Two mature nations behaving properly.

If the Koreans are looking for a flag to hate perhaps it should be the South Korean flag where between 1948 and 1980 numerous massacres were committed by South Korean military / authorities against South Koreans.

At the games the Japanese soccer players were the champions. On the scoreboard the last place team was listed on top, while the champion team, the Japanese was listed last on the bottom. Another example of immaturity.

The Italian company in Milan a maker of iPhone, iPad, iPod cases and other devices recently issued an apology on their Facebook page for one of their cases. The so-called offending case illustrated a flag known as Naval Ensign of Japan, the Rising Sun Flag, Kyokujitsu-ki, currently the flag of Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force.

The company received many complaints from Koreans claiming seeing that flag was insensitive and equivalent to the Nazi flag. Huh? Why the controversy over the flag? The Korean peninsula was part of Japan for about thirty-five years from 1910 to 1945 (Korea was annexed by Japan in 1910 - "the Japan-Korea Treaty of 1910"). Koreans claim the Japanese were brutal during this period while the Japanese respond Koreans were elevated out of poverty, built infrastructure, educational institutions, and other improvements. What happened during those thirty-five years is a subject of debate between the two.
Currently some Koreans use anything Japanese as a vehicle to express hate as illustrated with this iPhone case. The Koreans complaining see evil in the Japanese flag because of the thirty-five year history. Now take this west across the Pacific Ocean to the United States of America, the American flag, the Stars and Stripes, Old Glory.
For about one-hundred years under the flag of the United States of America, Native Americans (Indians) suffered. Lands were stolen, massacres, broken treaties, children forced and shipped off to boarding schools. The Native Americans have around 100 years of bad history with the American flag as oppose to the Korean 35 year relationship with the Japanese flag.
Yet Native Americans harbor no hate to the American flag. There are many Native American reservations in the United States all of which proudly display and wave the flag of these here United States of America. Native Americans have served in the American military under and for that flag in many wars.
When South Koreans look at the flag of North Korea, the Hermit Kingdom, do they also see a Nazi flag there? Japanese forces left the Korean peninsula sixty-eight years ago. While recent history with North Korea has been hostile: artillery shells hitting a South Korean island, sinking of a South Korean vessel, shooting tourist and the list continues of North Korean crimes against South Koreans. Why only the hate towards Japan?

The Italian company in Milan a maker of iPhone, iPad, iPod cases and other devices recently issued an apology on their Facebook page for one of their cases. The so-called offending case illustrated a flag known as Naval Ensign of Japan, the Rising Sun Flag, Kyokujitsu-ki, currently the flag of Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force.

The company received many complaints from Koreans claiming seeing that flag was insensitive and equivalent to the Nazi flag. Huh? Why the controversy over the flag? The Korean peninsula was part of Japan for about thirty-five years from 1910 to 1945 (Korea was annexed by Japan in 1910 - "the Japan-Korea Treaty of 1910"). Koreans claim the Japanese were brutal during this period while the Japanese respond Koreans were elevated out of poverty, built infrastructure, educational institutions, and other improvements. What happened during those thirty-five years is a subject of debate between the two.
Currently some Koreans use anything Japanese as a vehicle to express hate as illustrated with this iPhone case. The Koreans complaining see evil in the Japanese flag because of the thirty-five year history. Now take this west across the Pacific Ocean to the United States of America, the American flag, the Stars and Stripes, Old Glory.
For about one-hundred years under the flag of the United States of America, Native Americans (Indians) suffered. Lands were stolen, massacres, broken treaties, children forced and shipped off to boarding schools. The Native Americans have around 100 years of bad history with the American flag as oppose to the Korean 35 year relationship with the Japanese flag.
Yet Native Americans harbor no hate to the American flag. There are many Native American reservations in the United States all of which proudly display and wave the flag of these here United States of America. Native Americans have served in the American military under and for that flag in many wars.
When South Koreans look at the flag of North Korea, the Hermit Kingdom, do they also see a Nazi flag there? Japanese forces left the Korean peninsula sixty-eight years ago. While recent history with North Korea has been hostile: artillery shells hitting a South Korean island, sinking of a South Korean vessel, shooting tourist and the list continues of North Korean crimes against South Koreans. Why only the hate towards Japan?

A Rising Sun Flag made Ki Sung Yueng / Yeung / Yong pretend to be a MONKEY in front of a TV camera. He is very strange. A flag has the power to turn Ki into an animal ― I guess heredity plays a significant role in the development of that disease if his story is true, that is.
At first, Ki said the monkey-celebration had been prepared "before the game" and acknowledged it as an insult to Japanese people in front of Korean newspaper reporters after the game. ("기성용의 행동이 경솔한 것은 분명하다. 인터뷰를 통해 미리 준비한 세리머니라고 말했으니 우발적인 행동도 아니다" JOINSMSN 2011.01.27)
But he was blamed for that stupid behavior, then he began to claim he had done the monkey-celebration because he had felt disgusted at a Rising Sun Flag "during the game". In short, it is just a child-like excuse.

Lieutenant Commander Stephen L. Johnson had a problem on his hands; a very large problem. His Balao-class submarine, the Segundo, had just picked up a large radar contact on the surface about 100 miles off Honshu, one of Japan’s home islands, heading south tow@rd Tokyo. World W@r II in the Pacific had just ended, and the ensuing cease fire was in its 14th day. The official peace documents would not be signed for several more days, on September 2, 1945, aboard the battleship USS Missouri in Tokyo Bay.
As Johnson closed on the other vessel, he realized it was a gigantic submarine, so large in fact that it first looked like a surface ship in the darkness. The Americans had nothing that size, so he realized that it had to be a Japanese submarine.
This was the first command for the lanky 29-year-old commander. He and his crew faced the largest and perhaps the most advanced submarine in the world. The Japanese I-401 was longer than a football field and had a surface displacement of 5,233 tons, more than three times the Segundo’s displacement. More troubling though was the sub’s bristling weaponry that included a 5.5-inch gun on her aft deck, three triple-barreled 25mm antiaircraft guns, a single 25mm gun mounted on the bridge, and eight large torpedo tubes in her bow.
The large sub displayed the mandatory black surrender flag, but when the Segundo edged forw@rd, the Japanese vessel moved rapidly into the night. The movement and the continuing display of the Rising Sun flag caused concern. Johnson’s vessel pursued the craft that eventually slowed down as dawn approached. He brought his bow torpedo tubes to bear on the craft as the two vessels settled into a Mexican standoff.
Johnson and his crew had received permission by now to sink the reluctant Japanese vessel if necessary, but he realized he had a career-boosting and perhaps a technologically promising prize in his sights. Much depended on this untried American submarine captain and his wily opponent in the seas off Japan.

We would argue that this verse is talking about the Temple body becoming desolate, hacked into by Satan and his demons. Wherein the Mark of the Beast would ultimately unleash this dark potential within the human genome, with the spirit of fallen angels descending onto Earth, and Lucifer himself ultimately setting up residence in the flesh of the willing Antichrist: "And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan, which deceiveth the whole world: he was cast out into the earth, and his angels were cast out with him."
