Richard S. Trethewey (born c. 1956 in Dedham, Massachusetts) is an American plumber and HVAC contractor, who is best known as a television personality, appearing regularly on This Old House and its spin-offs, Ask This Old House and Inside This Old House. In 1979, producer Russell Morash called on Trethewey Brothers to lend their expertise to his then new home improvement television series. Richard's father Ron filled the role for a season, and then turned the job over to his son, who has handled the duties ever since. Richard is a registered journeyman and master plumber in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. For each This Old House project, he oversees all plumbing, heating and air conditioning renovations. For Ask This Old House, he offers his expertise to viewers who write in with questions related to plumbing and HVAC, and occasionally visits a viewer's home.
In 1990, he left Trethewey Brothers to form his own company, RST, Inc. RST is a manufacturer's representative for several lines of plumbing and HVAC equipment ranging from pipes to complete systems. Located in Westwood, Massachusetts, the company serves much of New England and employs nine people.
This Old House is an American home improvement media brand with television shows, a magazine and a website, ThisOldHouse.com. The television series airs on the American television station Public Broadcasting Service (PBS) and follows remodeling projects of houses over a number of weeks. This Old House is produced by This Old House Ventures, Inc. with WGBH Boston as the PBS distributing station. Warner Bros. Domestic Television distributes the series to commercial television stations in syndication. Time Inc. launched This Old House magazine in 1995, focusing on home how-to, know-how and inspiration. In 2001, Time Inc. acquired the television assets from WGBH Boston and formed This Old House Ventures, Inc.
This Old House and its sister series Ask This Old House are often broadcast together as The This Old House Hour (originally known as The New This Old House Hour). Both shows are owned by This Old House Ventures, Inc. (a subsidiary of Time, Inc.) and are underwritten by GMC and The Home Depot. Weyerhauser lumber distributor, a previous underwriter, by 1989 had donated more than $1,000,000 a year to the show. This Old House is also underwritten by State Farm Insurance and Lumber Liquidators, Inc. Other underwriters throughout the show's tenure included Parks Corporation, Glidden paints, Montgomery Ward, Ace Hardware, Kohler plumbing, Schlage locks, Century 21 Real Estate, Toro lawnmowers/snowblowers, ERA Real Estate, Angie's List, and Mitsubishi Electrics. Two of the original underwriters were Weyerhauser and Owens-Corning.

Trethewey (Cornish: Tredhewi) is a hamlet in west Cornwall, England, United Kingdom. It forms part of St Levan civil parish. The village includes a Wesleyan chapel and schoolroom, built in 1868.
Trethewey lies within the Cornwall Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB). Almost a third of Cornwall has AONB designation, with the same status and protection as a National Park.
The first records of the name may be preserved in the "Calendar of inquisitions post mortem and other analogous documents preserved in the Public Record Office (1904)"which contains a probate inquiry as to the birthdate of 11 September 1296 and the birthplace of Treguwal of Roger Bloyou, although it may be the name of a different or extinct village.
Mystery meat navigation (also known as MMN) is a disparaging term coined in 1998 by Vincent Flanders, author and designer of the website Web Pages That Suck, to describe a web page where the destination of the link is not visible until the user points their cursor at it. Such interfaces lack a user-centered design, emphasizing aesthetic appearance, white space, and the concealment of relevant information over basic practicality and functionality.
The epithet "mystery meat" refers to the meat products often served in American public school cafeterias whose forms have been so thoroughly reprocessed that their exact types can no longer be identified by their appearances: like them, the methods of MMN are clear to the producer but baffling to the consumer.
Flanders originally and temporarily described the phenomenon as Saturnic navigation in reference to the Saturn Corporation, whose company website epitomized this phenomenon. Flanders writes, "The typical form of MMN is represented by menus composed of unrevealing icons that are replaced with explicative text only when the mouse cursor hovers over them".

A song written by Richard Trethewey about the innocence and naivity of children but laced with tragedy. This song could represent a bygone time just as much as the present day with the worldwide mining disasters of the last couple of years. (Excuse the watermark!)
2/5 - It's fun to see these "stars" from over 30 years ago. Bob Villa, Rich Trethewey, Norm Abram — all heroes of mine. (VHS Tape transfer) This Old House was the reason I bought a VHS player when I could afford on in 1984 — just to tape the shows. As it turned out, I never actually watched the tapes. I know: what a waste.
