A member of the upper house of the Commonwealth parliament, the Senate, is known as a "Senator".
In the Australian states of New South Wales and Victoria, a Member of the Legislative Assembly (lower house) may also use the post-nominal "MP". Members of the Legislative Council (upper house) use the post-nominal "MLC".

"After dressing up in blackface and a large Afro for a Purim holiday party that he hosted on Sunday, Brooklyn Assemblyman Dov Hikind is facing a lot of criticism today. Hikind is defending the costume, which also included a bright orange basketball jersey and a pair of dark sunglasses, and says that it was just part of a festive "good fun" celebration of the Jewish holiday."*
Assemblyman Dov Hikind wore blackface and an afro wig as part of a costume he wore to a Purim celebration. He says he's not racist at all, but didn't he just call someone else out for wearing an offensive Jewish stereotype outfit? Steve Oh (COO of The Young Turks) and Jimmy Dore discuss.

Anton Yelchin, a 27-year-old actor best known for playing the character Chekov in two “Star Trek” movies, was killed early on Sunday when his car rolled and pinned him against a wall in his driveway, police said.
