GANT is a clothing brand that was originally based in New Haven, USA in 1949 but is currently owned by Swiss holding company Maus Frères. GANT's products are available from retailers and at signature GANT stores throughout the world, and offer clothing for men, women, boys, girls and babies. Home, Time, Fragrance, Footwear, Underwear and Eyewear licenses are also incorporated under the Gant brand name.

History

Bernard Gantmacher arrived in New York City in 1914, a Jewish immigrant from Russian Empire. He went straight to the garment district in Manhattan and secured his first job as a collar-sewing specialist in a downtown factory. A few years later, he met his future wife, a button and buttonhole specialist who worked for the same company. Their sons, Marty and Elliot, along with a cousin, started a family business in New Haven, CT, acting as a subcontractor, manufacturing shirts.

Mark Zumerch sold shirts to private labels in America, including Manhattan Shirts, J. Press and Brooks Brothers. Captain Marty Gant mustered out of the US Air Force in 1945. Drawn to the family business, his brother Elliot quit the US Navy and joined him in 1947. They continued sales to other companies, but a small “G” stamped next to the union mark on the shirt indicated the manufacturer.

Plot: Sergeant Major Zak Carey is serving what is his final tour of duty at an Army base in Clemens, Georgia. Zak doesn't like the way the Army keeps the base and the bar is not what he's accustomed to. So he goes off base to get a beer. When he goes to the bar one of the local prostitutes tries to come on to Zak but Zak turns her down. That's when the deputy who appears to be her pimp beating her up. That's when Zak strikes him. Later he learns that the Sheriff is corrupt and takes what happened to the Deputy as an attack on him and tries to get Zak but the Army backs him and Zak is not intimidated. That's when they arrest his son on trumped up drug charges. Before Zak can fix it, his wife tries to get a lawyer for their son but this only pushes the Sheriff to send their son to a prison farm. With no other recourse Zak gets into his own vintage Sherman Tank and busts his son out and they try to make it to the state line so that they can expose the Sheriff.

The Last Hard Men (1976)

Part of his plan is to kidnap Burgade's daughter, which prompts him to strap on his guns and go after him on horseback. Can Burgade who has been retired for sometime still have what it takes to track Provo down?

Sole Survivor (1970)

[Frank puts another prisoner in Jeff's jail cell]::Frank Newberry: Company for you; Doc Vallon, best doc in Skagway.::Doc Vallon: Oh yes, because I am the only doctor in Skagway, so I am the best one. Say, will you ask the lawyer, Monsieur Gannon, to consider my case as quickly as possible.::Frank Newberry: I wouldn't crowd him, Doc, he's pretty sore - figures you could have saved Diggy's hand.::Doc Vallon: But the bones were crushed!
