A playthrough of version 1.0 of _LEGO Island,_ a 3D action-adventure proto-open world game released on 26 September 1997. The day this video is being published, 26 September 2022, is the game's 25th anniversary. I didn't like that all of the existing videos of this game either play only as Pepper or play only an assortment of minigames, so for the game's 25th birthday here is one that covers as much of the game as possible, and playing the game as it was meant to be played – not as a game to be completed, but more as a toy to mess around in. The entire score cube is filled with red, a lot of time is spent roaming the island and experiencing things, and both endings for the Brickster chase are shown. Even with this video ending up over 8 hours long, I still missed a whole bunch of dialogue no matter how much I tried – that's how extensive this game is. With Pepper, I tried showing yellow, blue, and red bricks for the car and jetski races (I wanted to with the tow truck and hospital minigames as well, but figured it would take too long since they have very lenient times). With the other characters, I (tried to) get red bricks in every minigame, except the pizza delivery ones, where I continued to get the three possible endings for each. After completing the score cube, the Brickster was released. Most videos also show version 1.1, so I decided to use the original release for this. Version 1.0 has a few differences from the more common version 1.1, including slightly different building mechanics and a few minor lines present in one version and not the other. I don't really know how else to celebrate a game, and while Rock Raiders is always my favorite, this game is truly special. I honestly don't think there has ever really been a game like it again unfortunately. The amount of care and effort that went into this game is staggering, and the way Mindscape treated its creators and destroyed any future games like it is awful.
