Busch Gardens is the name of two amusement parks in the United States, owned and operated by SeaWorld Entertainment. The original park is in Tampa, Florida, and the second park is in Williamsburg, Virginia. There were also previously Busch Gardens parks in Pasadena, California (1905–1937), Van Nuys, Los Angeles, California (1964–1979) and Houston, Texas (1971–1973).
Busch Gardens parks were initially developed as marketing vehicles for Anheuser-Busch and featured hospitality houses with samples of Anheuser-Busch products. They also included stables that housed many of the company's Clydesdale horses, which have been associated with Anheuser-Busch since 1933. Eventually, rides and attractions were added to the parks and over time were developed into full theme parks while still promoting Anheuser-Busch. Busch Entertainment Corporation, now called SeaWorld Parks & Entertainment, was created as a subsidiary of Anheuser-Busch Companies to run the various parks in 1959.
In 2009 InBev, the new owners of Anheuser-Busch, sold the amusement parks to the Blackstone Group. Blackstone has kept some of the popular traditions including a stable with Clydesdales but those Clydesdales are not affiliated with the beer company.
Busch Gardens Williamsburg (formerly known as Busch Gardens Europe and Busch Gardens: The Old Country) is a 383-acre (155 ha) theme park located in James City County, Virginia, about 60.40 miles (97.20 km) northwest of Virginia Beach, originally developed by Anheuser-Busch (A-B) and currently owned by SeaWorld Entertainment, a division of Blackstone Group. The park opened on May 16, 1975, adjacent to Anheuser-Busch's brewery and near its other developments including the Kingsmill Resort complex. The park is themed around various European countries.
The park was originally called Busch Gardens: The Old Country, reflecting the European theme. In 1993, the park was renamed Busch Gardens Williamsburg before briefly being named Busch Gardens Europe in 2006 until it returned to the Williamsburg name in 2008. Similarly, its sister park in Florida was originally called Busch Gardens: The Dark Continent until it was officially renamed Busch Gardens Tampa Bay until a brief switch to Busch Gardens Africa from 2006 to 2008. In 2010, the estimated attendance of 2.8 million placed it in the top 20 most-visited parks in the US.
A garden is a planned space, usually outdoors, set aside for the display, cultivation, and enjoyment of plants and other forms of nature. The garden can incorporate both natural and man-made materials. The most common form today is known as a residential garden, but the term garden has traditionally been a more general one. Zoos, which display wild animals in simulated natural habitats, were formerly called zoological gardens. Western gardens are almost universally based on plants, with garden often signifying a shortened form of botanical garden.
Some traditional types of eastern gardens, such as Zen gardens, use plants sparsely or not at all. Xeriscape gardens use local native plants that do not require irrigation or extensive use of other resources while still providing the benefits of a garden environment. Gardens may exhibit structural enhancements, sometimes called follies, including water features such as fountains, ponds (with or without fish), waterfalls or creeks, dry creek beds, statuary, arbors, trellises and more.
Williamsburg may refer to:
Williamsburg is an independent city in the U.S. state of Virginia. As of the 2010 census, the population was 14,068. In 2014, the population was estimated to be 14,691.
Located on the Virginia Peninsula, Williamsburg is in the northern part of the Hampton Roads metropolitan area. It is bordered by James City County and York County.
Williamsburg was founded in 1632 as Middle Plantation as a fortified settlement on high ground between the James and York rivers. The city served as the capital of the Colony of Virginia from 1699 to 1780 and was the center of political events in Virginia leading to the American Revolution. The College of William & Mary, established in 1693, is the second-oldest institution of higher education in the United States and the only one of the nine colonial colleges located in the South; its alumni include three U.S. presidents as well as many other important figures in the nation's early history.
The city's tourism-based economy is driven by Colonial Williamsburg, the restored Historic Area of the city. Along with nearby Jamestown and Yorktown, Williamsburg forms part of the Historic Triangle, which attracts more than four million tourists each year. Modern Williamsburg is also a college town, inhabited in large part by William & Mary students and staff.
Although it can never really replace the classic Big Bad Wolf suspended Arrow coaster that stood in its spot for 25 years (1984-2009), this Zierer custom coaster has a lot to like including two LSM launches, an 18 foot vertical drop track, an 88 foot drop over the Rhine River and three different alternating special effects themes within the "Black Forest" (the indoor section of the ride). This video shows the Lightning Storm theme effect, but you can also watch the other on-ride videos we posted to see the Spirit of the Forest and Big Bad Wolf theme effects: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y8NEdwet4fg http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c6dIsCuiCDY This Busch Gardens park is located in Williamsburg, Virginia. Footage provided by Busch Gardens. WILLIAMSBURG, Va. (April 7, 2017) – A horde of Viking invaders marched into Busch Gardens® Williamsburg on Friday and christened InvadR™, the park’s first wooden roller coaster. An official opening ceremony included a surprise twist when Busch Gardens President David Cromwell’s speech was interrupted by a group of Viking actors led by Magnus The Red. “It is a day for the brave! A day for the bold! It is a day for the Vikings!” Magnus declared during the “invasion.” He later urged his followers, some draped in war paint, capes, weapons and shields, to be among the first to ride InvadR. The invading group included members of Boys & Girls Clubs of the Virginia Peninsula; Fenvald Vikings living history group of Virginia Beach; and select fans who voted on...

This Premier Rides Sky Rocket II LSM launched looping coaster was the third of its kind when it opened in April, 2015 and is probably the best known of the half dozen clones that can currently be found at parks the world over. Like the others it stands 150 feet tall, reaches a top speed of 62 mph and has one inversion - an in-line twist. The loop is non inverting. Busch Gardens was gracious enough to invite us out to an exclusive InvadR construction tour before the park opens next month. We got a chance to see the ride from a point of view the general public will never be able to see, and hear from the creators themselves about the experience. It was a fantastic event and we were so grateful we could attend! Filmed by Melissa. Edited by Taylor. Our annual vacation to Williamsburg Va was joined by 18 friends and family. 4 Generations from Great Grandparents, Grandparents, Parents, Children, Grandchildren and Great Granchildren made it a trip to remember. We stayed at our timeshare in Powhatan Plantation, visited Busch Gardens and created many memories that will never be forgotten!
