The world's biggest observation wheel, named the British Aiways London Eye because of the sponsorship from the airline. This is the live broadcast made by the BBC featuring the opening 'turn' of the wheel. Actually the wheel did not move due to technical complications, the light display tried to make up for it but did not quite succeed. Opened by the then Prime Minister Tony Blair. So Hello from London! Time for a new destination. This is a city that I haven't visited in almost 4 years and it is actually Sam's very first time here. So we're both very excited to be in London. And we're going to be making a little video guide. Actually a really big video guide because we plan on showing you 50 different things to do around London. So let's get started.
Our first stop was Trafalgar Square. This square leads to a lot of central attractions, so it's a nice place to people watch, get your bearings, and plan out where you want to go in the city.
The London Eye is a giant Ferris wheel on the South Bank of the Thames. It offers a bird's eye view of the city - just make sure you don't go on a foggy day.
Buckingham Palace has served as the official London residence for Britain's sovereigns since 1837. The State Rooms at Buckingham Palace are open to visitors every year, however, that's something that you need to plan months in advance.
The Palace of Westminster, also known as the Houses of Parliament, is the meeting place of the House of Commons and the House of Lords. The Palace along with Big Ben are two of the top London attractions that dot the city-scape.
The Tower of London sits on the north bank of the River Thames. Though this castle served many purposes, it's mainly remembered for its use as a prison in the 16th and 17th centuries.
And that's a wrap for London! Like with any mega city, it's impossible to cover all the sights and attractions you can enjoy here, but hopefully this video will give you an idea of what London has to offer. So Hello from London! Time for a new destination. This is a city that I haven't visited in almost 4 years and it is actually Sam's very first time here. So we're both very excited to be in London. And we're going to be making a little video guide. Actually a really big video guide because we plan on showing you 50 different things to do around London. So let's get started.
Our first stop was Trafalgar Square. This square leads to a lot of central attractions, so it's a nice place to people watch, get your bearings, and plan out where you want to go in the city.
The London Eye is a giant Ferris wheel on the South Bank of the Thames. It offers a bird's eye view of the city - just make sure you don't go on a foggy day.
Buckingham Palace has served as the official London residence for Britain's sovereigns since 1837. The State Rooms at Buckingham Palace are open to visitors every year, however, that's something that you need to plan months in advance.
The Palace of Westminster, also known as the Houses of Parliament, is the meeting place of the House of Commons and the House of Lords. The Palace along with Big Ben are two of the top London attractions that dot the city-scape.
The Tower of London sits on the north bank of the River Thames. Though this castle served many purposes, it's mainly remembered for its use as a prison in the 16th and 17th centuries.
And that's a wrap for London! Like with any mega city, it's impossible to cover all the sights and attractions you can enjoy here, but hopefully this video will give you an idea of what London has to offer. Jane Wernick CBE FREng Hon FRIBA FIStructE FICE is a structural engineer who likes to work on projects that give delight. With Arup from 1976-1998, she started and ran their Los Angeles office from 1986-88. Her most notable Arup project was the Millennium Wheel.
In 1998 she founded Jane Wernick Associates (JWA). Among the practice’s many notable projects are the Young Vic Theatre, London; the treetop walkway at the Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew; and the Living Architecture Houses. In 2015 Jane stepped back from running the business in order to concentrate on engineering and broader industry issues. JWA is now part of a firm with a similar ethos, engineersHRW.
Jane has taught at many schools, including Harvard’s Graduate School of Design, the Mackintosh School of Architecture and the Architectural Association. She won the 2013 CBI First Woman of the Built Environment Award.
