Greenpeace protester who scaled shard is charged with aggravated trespass.
Greenpeace activist
Alison Garrigan from
Greater Manchester will appear at
Camberwell Magistrates' Court later this month.
Five other Greenpeace protesters who climbed the central
London skyscraper with her have admitted the offence and accepted police cautions.
The activists reached the top of the
Shard in central London on 11 July, having spent 15 hours climbing the landmark in protest at oil drilling in the Arctic.
After reaching the summit of the 72-storey building, two of the campaigners unfurled a 32ft by 32ft blue flag with "
Save the Arctic" written in white across it. They said they wanted to put
Shell and other oil companies in the spotlight.
The viewing platform of the Shard was closed to visitors while the women were scaling the building.
Supporters were able to follow the climb as footage was live-streamed from the demonstrators' helmet cameras.
The other women who took part were:
Victoria Henry, 32, a
Canadian living in
Hackney, London; Wiola Smul, 23, from
Poznan, Poland;
Sabine Huyghe, 33, from
Ghent, Belgium;
Sandra Lamborn, 29, from
Stockholm, Sweden; and Liesbeth Deddens, 31, from
Groningen, Netherlands.

Hell yeah, I'm scared, but I'm still scaling the Shard to save the Arctic

I wrote this semi dramatic piece of music as a tribute to the climb of these fully trained 'Six
Outstanding Individuals' who very professionally and meticulously scaled the 'Shard of Glass' on the 11 Jul 2013 as an environmental protest to the continued exploration for oil in the Arctic - that ultimately will cause the Arctic's inevitable decline, unless drillings are not stopped immediately and the arctic's environment becomes fully protected.

London's Shard

Pollution will be on a massive scale and devastate the
Arctic region's most pure and beautiful environment.
The outcome will be catastrophic and irreversible. Even the professionals in the field of oil exploration forecast spillages.
Some of Greenpeace's brave souls appear to put their lives and careers at risk that we might become more engaged listeners and take heed in the way we treat our very precious home -
Mother Earth.

Yes we only have one home and it's for all life forms and future generations to come too.
I think Greenpeace is admirable and endeavours to try and make us fully aware of the tragedies unfolding and the success stories too that impinge on our precious and fragile world, and the need for positive changes by companies and yes you and me too, so as to protect it.
I do hope those with 'real power' in this world will start to 'really listen' and fully understand the gravity of not taking positive action in looking after our one and only home which in the future might become our worst
nightmare if we continue to constantly abuse and neglect it.
