A great afternoons session spent at Potters Bar station on the East Coast Mainline where we see plenty of services from VTEC, Grand Central, First Hull Trains and Govia Great Northern.
It was a fantastic station to film at and definitely somewhere I will be coming back to for a much longer visit. During this video the East Midlands Trains power cars come screaming through with amazing effect. Definitely the best sound coming from any diesel engine in the country.
My next film will be from Hadley Wood which will end my run along the East Coast Mainline.

Filmed in 720p HD with a Canon PowerShot Digital Camera!
On 9th Feburary 2015, I took a visit to this fine station of Potters Bar on the ECML, which is the first station north of the London Travelcard Zone. Whilst hopefully waiting for a diverted freight train to turn up, I got a fair few toots from the drivers on various commuter and express services worked by a wide variety of traction, as seen in this video!
Mainly featured tooting at me in this video are East Coast express services formed of HST and 225 sets, Grand Central express services formed of HST sets and Class 180 'Zephyr' DMUs, and Great Northern commuter services mostly formed of Class 365 EMUs, with a couple seen formed of Class 313 and 317 EMUs.
Finally, as a fitting finale, a beast of a Fugly makes an appearance - Freightliner 70019 - powering up and claggging beautifully with a diverted Leeds-Southampton liner and with a horn from the driver too, which rounded off a super afternoon.

It was a bit wet today so I used my old trusty Panasonic V-700 not wanting the Sony RX10 to get wet. The video was recorded hand held, not my best skill but I believe you get the essence of the Garage. I used the music because it reminded of the old advert "The Esso Sign means Happy Motoring" as I was recording large vehicle it seemed to match.

Potters Bar is a town in the Hertsmere borough of Hertfordshire, England, located 18 miles (29 km) north of Central London. In 2001 it had a population of 21,618.
The town originated in the early 13th century and remained a small settlement until the arrival of the Great Northern Railway in 1850. It is part of the London commuter belt.
The origin of the Potters element of the town's name is uncertain but is generally thought to be either a reference to a Roman pottery, believed to have been sited locally, or alternatively to the Pottere family who lived in the South Mimms parish. The Bar is thought to refer to the gates leading from the South Mimms parish and into the Enfield Chase parish, or possibly from some sort of toll on the Great North Road. The original "Bar" is said to have been at what is now the Green Man pub, or at the current entrance to Morven House.
Potters Bar is located on the Great North Road, one of two road routes from the City of London to the north of England. The road was originally numbered as the A1, and later the A1000.

But now, The Affinity Sutton Housing Association now want to Build 2 Blocks of Flats and 6 Semi-Detached Houses on the Green. and to Turn a Nearby Smaller Green into a Car Park, Leaving Nowhere for the Local Children to Play. A Group of Local Mother's Led by Keri Noonan, Have started a Campaign to Preserve our Green. Every Day for about 2 Weeks, Many of us have Parked Ourselves on the Green, making it Difficult for the Workmen to Start Digging it Up. Keri and Some Friends even Put a Caravan and Tent's on the Green and Camped there. The "London Tonight News" Reported the Story. A great afternoons session spent at Potters Bar station on the East Coast Mainline where we see plenty of services from VTEC, Grand Central, First Hull Trains and Govia Great Northern.
It was a fantastic station to film at and definitely somewhere I will be coming back to for a much longer visit. During this video the East Midlands Trains power cars come screaming through with amazing effect. Definitely the best sound coming from any diesel engine in the country.
My next film will be from Hadley Wood which will end my run along the East Coast Mainline.

On 9th Feburary 2015, I took a visit to this fine station of Potters Bar on the ECML, which is the first station north of the London Travelcard Zone. Whilst hopefully waiting for a diverted freight train to turn up, I got a fair few toots from the drivers on various commuter and express services worked by a wide variety of traction, as seen in this video!
Mainly featured tooting at me in this video are East Coast express services formed of HST and 225 sets, Grand Central express services formed of HST sets and Class 180 'Zephyr' DMUs, and Great Northern commuter services mostly formed of Class 365 EMUs, with a couple seen formed of Class 313 and 317 EMUs.
Finally, as a fitting finale, a beast of a Fugly makes an appearance - Freightliner 70019 - powering up and claggging beautifully with a diverted Leeds-Southampton liner and with a horn from the driver too, which rounded off a super afternoon.

Historic Hokitika is a place to appreciate the fascinating history of the west coast. Hear about the ship wrecks, gold miners and pounamu hunters.
Hokitika was first settled in 1860, after the discovery of gold on the west coast. It was an important river port, but many ships came to grief on the notorious 'Hokitika Bar' -- a sandbar that shifts with every tide. There are some lovely old buildings on the town's historic walk. You'll also notice galleries specialising in pounamu jewellery and art works. The Arahura River, which enters the sea just north of Hokitika, is a traditional source of pounamu (greenstone). Gold jewellers, wood turners and potters provide other souvenir opportunities. Hokitika's icon event is the Wildfoods Festival, which is held at the end of summer.
Functional facts: Approx. population 3100, i-SITE Visitor Centre, good range of shops and services.

Viktor Wynd's Museum of Curiosities is probably the most peculiar place you will visit and definitely one of the top 50 MUST SEE places to go and things to do in London. It is quite unlike any other museum as it has the influence of Viktor Wynd jumping out at you whoever you look.
Vaginas of Victorian prostitutes in jars of formaldehyde, Amy Winehouse's poo in a jar, David Bowie's mullet and Russell Brand's pubic hair to name but a few of the oddities on offer.
Viktor Wynd, the head curator is the chancellor of the Last Tuesday Society which started life at Harvard and no doubt found its way to London after Wynd studied fine art in Florida. They put on masked balls, danse macabres, art exhibitions and even seances and if you like you can do a cocktail class in the bar of the museum where they have expert mixologists on hand.
Viktor Wynd is a dandy from a bygone age, belonging more in an 18th century gothic novel than modern times and feasts on invertebrates amongst other odd behaviour.
I would definitely recommend his personal tour of the museum otherwise you might miss some of the eccentric and remarkable stories connected with each exhibit. Each and every one has its own story attached and you could listen to him for hours as he recites poetry and speaks of his artist friends like Sebastian Horsley crucifying himself.
If you visit nothing else make sure you see this extraordinary place at 11 Mare Street, Hackney, London.

My name is Zahi Shaked
In 2000 I became a registered liscenced tourist guide.
My dedication in life is to pass on the ancient history of the Holy Land.
Following upon many years of travel around the world, which was highlighted by a very exciting emotional and soul-searching meeting with the Dalai Lama, I realized that I had a mission. To pass on the the history of the Holy Land, its religions, and in particular, the birth and development of Christianity.
In order to fulfill this "calling" in the best way possible, I studied in depth, visited, and personally experienced each and every important site of the ancient Christians. I studied for and received my first bachelors degree in the ancient history of the Holy Land, and am presently completing my studies for my second degree.(Masters)
Parralel to my studies, and in order to earn a living, I was employed for many years in advertising. What I learned there was how to attract the publics attention, generate and, increase interest, and assimilate information. All this I use as tools to describe, explain and deepen the interest in the sites that we visit. From my experience, I have learned that in this way, the Holy Land becomes more than just history, and that the large stones that we see scattered about in dissaray, join together one by one until they become - a Byzantine Church. This also happens when I lead a group of Pilgrims in the Steps of Jesus. We climb to the peak of Mount Precipice, "glide" over the land to the Sea of Galilee, land on the water and "see" the miracle which enfolds before us. This is a many faceted experience. Not only history which you will remember and cherish, but an experience which I hope will be inplanted in your hearts and minds, and will accompany you all the days of your life.

Daphne Bannister and family are doing it right..right at the dock. You've heard of FEILD TO TABLE? well this is OCEAN TO PLATE. They specialize in native dishes and prized Conch Salad and Fritters. We also had their Red Snapper dinner....off the charts delish.
We met a very special person. He was just sitting at one of the tables just in front of Daphney's when I leaned over through all the noise of some kind of political debate and said, "Excuse me but can you tell us where the best place on the dock to eat at" He quickly said SIT DOWN...this is the best place here. Ron Cacciatore from Fort Lauderdale Florida quickly made room at the painted picnic table were we started a great night of eating amongst the locals.It got louder and louder as more food came out to us.
So when in Nassau...and you really need to taste the island and not a "resort"...then walk or get a $11 cab ride (but easily walkable 10 min) over the bridge to Potter's Cay Dock and really really taste the island and feel the warmth of the real people that make Bahamas what it is.
