Khari Baoli is a street in Old Delhi, India known for its wholesale grocery and Asia's largest wholesale spice market selling all kinds of spices, nuts and herbs.
Operating since the 17th century, the market is situated near the historic Delhi Red Fort, on the Khari Baoli Road adjacent to Fatehpuri Masjid at the western end of the Chandni Chowk, and over the years has remained a tourist attraction, especially those in the heritage circuit of Old Delhi.
The market came up around, the Fatehpuri Masjid, which was built in 1650 by Fatehpuri Begum, one of Mughal Emperor, Shah Jahan's wives. It was during his reign that the Khari Baoli, with Baoli, meaning the step well, and Khari and Khara meaning Salty, thus it was salty water stepwell used for animals and for bathing. It was constructed along with a fortified gateway on its western end popularly known as Lahori Gate, one of the 14 gates that Fortified city of Delhi or Shahjahanabad, named so because a road through it led to the city of Lahore, now in Pakistan. However, today there is no trace of either the Baoli or the gateway here, which now lies buried under the main road of the market.
In 1936, Chowdhary Chhotu Ram, a minister in the Punjab Government made a law which cancelled all the debts of the villagers, thus numerous Agrawal traders lost business and migrated to Delhi and settled in colonies like Kamla Nagar, Shakti Nagar and Model Basti, and took their trade took around the walled city areas of Old Delhi, especially Chandni Chowk, Khari Baoli, Dariba Kalan, Nai Sarak, Naya Bazaar, Sadar Bazaar and Chowri Bazaar.
Here many shops are still known by their serial numbers eg "Chawal Wale 13" or "21 Number Ki Dookan", and are run by the ninth or tenth generation of the founders, who started these establishments, way back in the 17th and 18th century.

He was a recipient of the third highest (then second highest) Indian civilian honour of Padma Bhushan.

Sampooran Singh Kalra (born 18 August 1934), known popularly by his pen name Gulzar, is an Indian poet, lyricist and director. He primarily writes in Hindustani (Hindi-Urdu) and Punjabi; besides several dialects of Hindi such as Braj Bhasha, Khariboli, Haryanvi and Marwari.
Gulzar was awarded the Padma Bhushan in 2004 for his contribution to the arts and the Sahitya Akademi Award in 2002. He has won a number of National Film Awards and 20 Filmfare Awards. At the 81st Academy Awards, he won the Academy Award for Best Original Song for "Jai Ho" (shared with A.R.Rahman), for the film Slumdog Millionaire. On 31 January 2010, the same song won him a Grammy Award in the category of Grammy Award for Best Song Written for a Motion Picture, Television or Other Visual Media.
Gulzar's poetry is partly published in three compilations: Chand Pukhraaj Ka, Raat Pashminey Ki and Pandrah Paanch Pachattar (15-05-75). His short stories are published in Raavi-paar (also known as Dustkhat in Pakistan) and Dhuan (smoke).
As a lyricist, Gulzar is best known for his association with the music directors Rahul Dev Burman, A. R. Rahman and Vishal Bhardwaj. He has also worked with other leading Bollywood music directors including Sachin Dev Burman, Salil Chowdhury, Shankar Jaikishan, Hemant Kumar, Laxmikant-Pyarelal, Madan Mohan, Rajesh Roshan, Anu Malik, and Shankar--Ehsaan--Loy. Along with lyrics, he has also contributed in many films as script, story and dialogue writer. Films directed by him have also won numerous awards and have been critically acclaimed. He also had worked on small screen by creating series Mirza Ghalib and Tahreer Munshi Premchand ki among others. He wrote lyrics for several Doordarshan serials including Hello Zindagi, Potli Baba ki and Jungle Book.
Gulzar was born in a Kalra Arora Sikh family, to Makhan Singh Kalra and Sujan Kaur, in Dina, Jhelum District, British India, in what is now Pakistan. Before becoming an established writer, Sampooran worked in Mumbai as a car mechanic in a garage. His father rebuked him from becoming a writer saying "As a writer you will have to depend on your brothers". He took the pen name Gulzar Deenvi after becoming an author.
Gulzar is best known in India as a lyricist for songs that form an integral part of Bollywood. He began his career under the directors Bimal Roy and Hrishikesh Mukherjee. His book Ravi Paar has a narrative of Bimal Roy and the agony of creation. Gulzar started his career as a songwriter with the music director Sachin Dev Burman for the movie Bandini (1963). Shailendra who has penned rest of the songs of the movie urged Gulzar to write the song "Mora Gora Ang Layle". This was picturised on Nutan.

Gulzar's most successful songs as a lyricist came out from his association with Sachin Dev Burman's son Rahul Dev Burman, whom he described as the anchor in his life.
Gulzar has had award-winning associations with the music directors Salil Chowdhury (Anand, Mere Apne), Madan Mohan (Mausam) and more recently with Vishal Bhardwaj (Maachis, Omkara, Kaminey), A. R. Rahman (Dil Se.., Guru, Slumdog Millionaire, Raavan) and Shankar--Ehsaan--Loy (Bunty aur Babli).
Gulzar was a song writer or dialogue writer for several Doordarshan programmes for kids such as Jungle Book, Alice in Wonderland, Guchche and Potli Baba Ki with Vishal Bhardwaj. He has more recently written and narrated for the children's audiobook series Karadi Tales. For the peace campaign (Aman ki Asha) jointly started by India's and Pakistan's leading media houses, he wrote the anthem "Nazar Main Rehte Ho", which was recorded by Shankar Mahadevan and Rahat Fateh Ali Khan.
Gulzar has written ghazals for Ghazal Maestro Jagjit Singh's albumbs "Marasim" and "Koi Baat Chale". Both these albums were a great success.
As director
After writing dialogues and screenplay for films like Aashirwad, Anand, Khamoshi and more, Gulzar directed his first film Mere Apne(1971). The film was a remake of Tapan Sinha's Bengali film Apanjan(1969). Meena Kumari played the lead role of Anandi Devi, an old widow caught in between the local fights of unemployed & tormented youngsters. Anandi Devi's death in one of the fights makes them realize the futility of violence. The film was rated "Above Average" at the Box Office. He then directed Parichay and Koshish. Parichay was based on a Bengali novel, Rangeen Uttarain by Raj Kumar Maitra and inspired from the Hollywood film The Sound of Music. Written by Gulzar, Koshish told a story full of struggle of a deaf-dumb couple. Sanjeev Kumar won National Film Award for Best Actor for his performance in it. Year 1973 saw his another directorial venture named Achanak. Inspired by the real-life sensational 1958 murder case KM Nanavati v State of Maharashtra, the story writer K.A. Abbas earned a Filmfare nomination for Best Story.

In the Indian tradition, musicians have always been in harmony with nature, giving rise to the concept of the music of the seasons. These songs evoking the seasons are usually in the Brajbhasha, Avadhi, Khari Boli and Bhojpuri dialects and reflect a living tradition that is neither strictly classical nor folk. In volume 4 of the Songs of the Season series, Shubha Mudgal begins with a hori, Kanhaiya Ghar Chalo Mori, moving onto sawani, chaiti and kajri -- all songs for the monsoon. On Kartik Shukla Ashtami (Gopashtami) Samvat 1746 Vikram (1689 AD), at the age of 93, Sant Sunderdas left for his heavenly abode. In his last couplet, he said that death is the union of spirit with god and, therefore, it is nothing but a festivity.

Bharat-Bharati is a classic Maha-Kavya (epic) written by Rashtra Kavi Methili Sharan Gupt. It traces the rise and fall of Indian civilization and gives prescription for regaining the heights that the civilization had once achieved in the past. The book has three chapters on the past, present and future of India. There are 703 verses in all. I have presented here few verses from “Ateet” (past) and shall be presenting other excerpts in future. The sheer beauty of verses in this epic is without a parallel and it must be read and understood by our young readers.

Maithilisharan Gupt (मैथिलीशरण गुप्त) (3 August 1886 – 12 December 1964) was one of the most important modern Hindi poets. He is considered one among the pioneers of Khari Boli (plain dialect) poetry and wrote in Khari Boli dialect, at a time when most Hindi poets favoured the use of Braj Bhasha dialect.
Gupt entered the world of Hindi literature by writing poems in various magazines, including Saraswati.
In 1910, his first major work, Rang mein Bhang was published by Indian Press. With Bharat Bharati, his nationalist poems became popular among Indians, who were struggling for independence. Most of his poems revolve around plots from Ramayana, Mahabharata, Buddhist stories and the lives of famous religious leaders. His famous work Saket revolves around Urmila, wife of Lakshmana, from Ramayana, while another of his works Yashodhara revolves around Yashodhara, the wife of Gautama Buddha.

Translations
Gupt also translated major works from other language into Hindi. These include the Rubaiyat of Omar Khayyám and Swapnavaasavdatta, a Sanskrit play.

After India became independent in 1947, he was also made an honorary member of the Rajya Sabha, where he used poetry to put his opinions before the other members. He remained a member of the Rajya Sabha till his death in 1964. He was awarded Padma Bhushan in 1954.

Madison Square is formed by the intersection of Fifth Avenue and Broadway at 23rd Street in the New York City borough of Manhattan. The square was named for James Madison, fourth President of the United States and the principal author of the United States Constitution.
The focus of the square is Madison Square Park, a 6.2 acre (2.5 hectare) public park, which is bounded on the east by Madison Avenue (which starts at the park's southeast corner at 23rd Street); on the south by 23rd Street; on the north by 26th Street; and on the west by Fifth Avenue and Broadway as they cross.
On May 10, 1847, the 6.8 acre (2.8 ha) Madison Square Park opened to the public.
On October 17, 1966, a fire at 7 East 23rd Street, resulted in the second most deadly building collapse in the history of the New York City Fire Department, when 12 firefighters – two chiefs, two lieutenants, and eight firefighters – were killed, the department's greatest loss of life before the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks.
A plaque honoring them can be seen on the apartment building currently occupying the site, Madison Green.
Having fallen into disrepair, Madison Square Park underwent a total renovation which was completed in June 2001.

Sapna Jandu is one of best folk dancer of present years of Haryanvi language.
Indilens News Team (http://indilens.com ) has added :
Haryanvi is an Indo-Aryan language. It is native to the regions of Haryana and Delhi of India. It is written using the Devanagiri script. It is also considered to be the northernmost dialect of Hindi. It is similar to Braj Bhasha[4] and has a ≈60% lexical similarity with Bagri language.[5] It is most widely spoken in the North Indian state of Haryana. The term Haryanvi is also used for people from Haryana.Haryanvi is native to the Indian state of Haryana and Delhi. Haryanvi is spoken in various districts of Haryana. The people in the districts of Rohtak, Jhajjar, Sonipat, Hisar, Bhiwani and Jind speak the standard form of Haryanvi. Regional variation in spoken Haryanvi constitutes a dialect continuum. Haryanvi dialects have lots of variation and sometimes it varies from village to village which may be just a few kilometers apart. Bangaru, also known as Haryanvi literally, is most widely spoken. Ahirs of Ahirwal belt in southern Haryana speak Haryanvi language similar to Rajasthani. Brahmans, Rors, and Kambojs usually speak the Khaddar dialect, which is a more northern form of Haryanvi and shares many similarities with Khariboli. Gujjars speak Gujri language.
Haryanvi belongs to the Western Hindi family of languages. It is usually understood to be a dialect of Hindi and not a separate language although it has more lexical similarity and legibility with Bagri dialect of Rajasthani. A few dialects of Haryanvi have many similarities with Khariboli, the prestige dialect of Hindi but several other dialects are quite dissimilar.
A very notable feature of this language includes its very aggressive tone, due to this reason it is sometimes referred in other parts of India as the "Lathmar" ("Beating with a stick") language. There has not been a proper documentation of Haryanvi literature since most Haryanvi literary figures write in Standard Hindi, but the language has a long-standing oral tradition of folk songs.
Tau Sangi, Heeradas Udasi, Deepchand, Debising, Pt. Lakhami Chand, Baje Bhagat, Dhanpat, Mange Ram, Shriram Sharma, Rammehar, Taradatt vilxan, Dr. Pawan Kumar, Vikash Thakur and Bharatbhusan Sanghival have made a major contribution to Haryanvi literature. The works of Pt. Lakhami Chand, published by Haryana Sahitya Academy are also notable.
Haryanvi has a very rich culture in terms of folk songs that are called Raginis and folk dramas, known by the name of Saang. Surender Sharma is a very famous satirist, who initially told all his jokes in pure Haryanvi and most of his jokes have their origin in the rural culture of Haryana.
