The 10-metre band is a portion of the shortwave radio spectrum internationally allocated to amateur radio and amateur satellite use on a primary basis. The band consists of frequencies stretching from 28000 to 29700 kHz.
The 10-metre band was allocated on a worldwide basis by the International Radiotelegraph Conference in Washington, D.C., on October 4, 1927. Its frequency allocation was then 28000-30000 kc.
A 300 kHz segment, from 29.700 MHz to 30.000 MHz, was removed from the amateur radio allocation by the 1947 International Radio Conference of Atlantic City.
OSCAR-5, built at the University of Melbourne, Australia, and launched in 1970 on a NASA flight, was the first OSCAR to transmit on the 10-metre band.[citation needed]
In the late 1970s, with the impending ban by the FCC of the sale of older 23-channel CB equipment that did not meet more stringent restrictions on newer, 40-channel units, meant that a surplus of 23-channel CB gear was on the market. This was a windfall for amateur radio enthusiasts, allowing access to fairly inexpensive radios which could easily be modified for use in the 10-metre band.
Well the boys and the girls all dancing around
Dancing all night to the crazy sound
Well it's the newest thing to hit the fan
The boys and the girls are holding hands
I said go buddy go buddy go
buddy go buddy go go go
A well I'm with my friend bob
And we're having a chat
I got the right speed and I'm doing fine
But bob is not dancing no shery
He's got a lazy eye on a litlle lady
I said go buddy go buddy go
buddy go buddy go go go
Wow let's say now
Go buddy go buddy go
buddy go buddy go go go
..go go go go
As the wimen display around the floor
Dissapearing in a space behind the door
You tell the chick who stands right to us to get some more
Go buddy go buddy go

A well I see we're changing partners
But that's not for me

I'm standing on the outside Lookin' in
Who's that litlle girl she was with him
I said go buddy go buddy go
buddy go buddy go go go

As the wimen display around the floor
Dissapearing in a space behind the door
You tell the chick who stands right to us to get some more
Go buddy go buddy go
