We attended this conference (SEPTEMBER 12, 2015). The conference description is never accurate. They rarely talk about what's in the program book. Not even sure if the names are correct! Here is the description: If it’s not studio-supported, then it has to be a low-budget indie in order to recoup any funds—right? What about the medium-budget film? We’ll share what a producer should know about succeeding at the medium-budget bracket. GARETH ELLIS-UNWIN CEO, BEDLAM PRODUCTIONS AND EXECUTIVE PRODUCER KILO TWO BRAVO @BEDLAM_GARETH Academy and BAFTA award winning Producer Gareth Ellis-Unwin is the CEO of Bedlam Film Productions, best known for the multi-award winning film “The Kings Speech”. Previous recipient of two TIFF Audience awards, Gareth is in town with “Kilo Two Bravo” a compelling British war film that is featuring in the City to City strand at TIFF 40. The critically acclaimed film, in support of a number of military charities, followed a particularly unique form of self-distribution and has gone onto be a breakout success on the Home Entertainment platforms in the UK. Although based in Canada, Bron is very active in film production and finance globally. Robert Jones’ production credits include Oscar winners The Usual Suspects, Gosford Park and The Constant Gardener. Robert produced and co-created the Channel 4 TV series Babylon. Recent production The Survivalist was critically lauded at its 2015 Tribeca Film Festival world premiere. In post-production are A Patch of Fog, the debut feature from BAFTA winning and Oscar-nominated director Michael Lennox, and the recently wrapped Alleycats, a thriller starring Eleanor Tomlinson, John Hannah and John Lynch. MIMI STEINBAUER PRESIDENT AND CEO, RADIANT FILMS INTERNATIONAL Mimi Steinbauer launched Radiant Films International, a full service international sales company, in January 2012. She is President and CEO of the company which acquires and distributes theatrical feature films. Her current slate includes Carrie Pilby set to star Bel Powley and Tom Wilkinson; the thriller Take Down directed by Jim Gillespie and starring Ed Westwick, Jeremy Sumpter and Phoebe Tonkin; The Driftless Area starring Anton Yelchin and Zooey Deschanel; IFC Films’ Hungry Hearts starring Adam Driver and Alba Rohrwacher, who both won Coppa Volpi Awards at the Venice Film Festival and Alchemy’s Madame Bovary with Mia Wasikowska, Paul Giamatti and Ezra Miller. ANNE THOMPSON CREATOR, THOMPSON ON HOLLYWOOD Born and raised in Manhattan, Anne Thompson grew up going to the Thalia and The New Yorker and wound up pursuing Graduate Cinema Studies at NYU. She worked at United Artists and Film Comment before heading West as that magazine's West Coast Editor. She wrote for the LA Weekly, Sight and Sound, Empire, The New York Times and Entertainment Weekly before serving as West Coast Editor of Premiere. She wrote for The Washington Post, The London Observer, Wired, More, and Vanity Fair, and did staff stints at The Hollywood Reporter and Variety. She eventually took her blog Thompson on Hollywood to Indiewire. She has taught film criticism at USC Critical Studies, and continues to host the fall semester of “Sneak Previews” for UCLA Extension.
