The Dollars And Cents Of A Four Year Degree
When it comes down to the importance of an education there is no denying that the longer you stay in school the better off you are when it comes to earning potential over the course of your lifetime.
Recent estimates have presented some rather astonishing figures to support these claims however, and I for one think they are well worth mentioning.
Let’s discuss first things first however. A high school diploma will net the average citizen $200,000 additional dollars of lifetime income on average.
This is one small baby step when it comes to the educational process however. Some college, even without a degree will even increase that figure an additional $150,000 for a total of $350,000.
If this isn’t enough to convince you however try the facts and figures that are associated with the additional earning potential that a four-year degree introduces: $500,000.
This addition makes a total of $850,000 more over the course of a lifetime in earning potential.
I don’t know about you but I find those figures to be quite a nice motivator for going back and finishing a degree.
While a person’s education may not be an accurate indicator of his or her actual ability it is often used in the business world to narrow down a growing field of applicants for a sadly stagnate
number of positions across the country. There are things you just can’t see on a piece of paper and ability and capabilities are among those things. Businesses need a defining factor by which they
narrow down the field of potential employees and that defining characteristic is often a college degree in the field of business or a complimentary major course of study.
While this may not seem fair to many who have the practical skills companies are seeking employees that can fill multiple roles in order to eliminate positions that have been occupied in the past.
For this reason they want business people who have technical skills and a college education provides a brief introduction to many skills that are useful in these situations. Unfortunately,
the only way to know whether or not you have these specific skills is if you list them on your resume while those who have a four-year degree are believed to have them by the merit of their educations.
The earning potential alone should be enough to turn your head when it comes to the importance of earning a college degree though there are many more excellent reasons to pursue the completion of your
degree. If you haven’t considered some of the other wonderful reasons for returning to college and getting your degree, perhaps the reasons below will provide a little additional motivation.
1) Challenge. There is very little in life that offers the challenge of returning to college after an absence. It is a frightening prospect for many and yet can be equally as exciting.
You will find that the constant exposure to academic debate is a great way to feed your mind and open your eyes to new ideas. Challenge your preconceptions and challenge the limits of your own
experiences by opening up your mind to the thoughts and ideas of others.
2) Learn New Skills. There is never a bad time to begin learning new skills no matter what they say about old dogs and new tricks. The truth is that as long as you open your mind to learning you are
feeding it and that is a great thing.
3) Career advancement. Whether you realize it or not, a college degree is one of the quickest paths you can take to career advancement.
If the money wasn’t enough to convince you of the impact that a four-year degree can make in your life perhaps the reasons mentioned above were enough to do the trick. Whether or not you realize how
much a degree can affect your life the truth of the matter is that it can improve so many things about your life and how you view yourself and the world around you. Now is the perfect time to go back to
school and earn your degree.

Officials from the World Bank's Latin American division say the region has not suffered long-term damage from Mexico's 1994 financial crisis.
The bank's director for the region says Latin American economies show steady growth despite a temporary downturn caused by Mexico's currency crisis.
But while nations like Brazil, Chile and Mexico are emerging as economic powers in the region, poverty threatens to derail financial reform efforts in Latin America.
Shoring up Latin American economies is high on the list of reform priorities at the 181- nation spring summit of the International Monetary Fund and its sister organisation the World Bank.
The World Bank's director for Latin America says efforts to avert financial crisis in the region brought on by the devaluation of Mexico's peso would lead to new reform programmes designed to prevent a regional crisis.
Part of that effort, he says, is to move I-M-F and World Bank officials closer to the region.
At a briefing Tuesday, officials confirmed plans to move the Bank's Mexico director to the country.
SOUNDBITE:
But the fact that we are putting the person who is in charge of the programme, and takes all decisions in respect to the programme, in Mexico is a new experiment for the World Bank and I think it would lead to more efficiency on our part and I think it would also be a great advantage to the authorities in Mexico.

Burki says the Bank is not trying to take control of Mexico's finances away from Mexican officials, but to have a better feel for dealing with the country's lending needs.

and so on, and for us to develop a better understanding of the country
by being in the country.

About the Speaker: Imran Khan graduated from Oxford in 1972 with a degree in Politics and Economics. He was later inducted into the university's Hall of Fame. As a cricketer, he achieved incredible success as the world's premier all-rounder and lead Pakistan to its World Cup victory in 1992. After retiring from cricket, he went on to become a champion of social causes in Pakistan, going on to found the Shaukat Khanum Memorial Hospital, the country's first cancer hospital that provides free treatment to thousands of patients annually. He has raised millions of dollars worth of funding through national and international campaigns.Khan has also been active in politics and is the founder of Pakistan's Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party. His most significant political work has been the restoration of those judges who were deposed under the Musharraf regime. As University Chancellor of the Namal College in Mianwali, he set up links with the University of Bradford creating further academic opportunities for the youth of Pakistan.
Imran Khan received many prestigious awards for his outstanding work for public welfare and personal achievements amongst which are the Hilal-i-Imtiaz, Pakistan's highest civil honorary award, the Lifetime Achievement Award presented to him at the Asian Jewel Awards, and induction into both the Oxford University and the ICC Hall of Fame .

Pakistan is going through the toughest times of it's history. Floods, blasts, security disputes and inflation are the concerns of every Pakistani. Pakistan's economy is in miserable condition and needs sufficient back up from the government.
Javed Burki a Senior Scholar at the Woodrow Wilson Center emphasized on the importance of resource mobilization to improve Pakistan's economy in his address at WWC.
Former World Bank's official Pervez Hasan describes Pakistan's current situation as uncertain and believes that without an increase in Pakistan's exports there is a very little chance of improvement in Pakistan's economy.

Javed Burki
Javed Burki (Urdu: نذیر اللہ برکی , جاوید برکی) (born 8 May 1938) is a former Pakistani cricketer who played in 25 Tests from 1960 to 1969 to eventually become an ICC match referee. Burki received his early education from Cathedral High School Lahore. He also played cricket while studying at Oxford University (1958–1960).
Javed Burki is the son of General Wajid Ali Khan Burki (1900–1988). General Burki's sister-in-law, Shaukat Khanum (Burki), was the mother of Imran Khan, the founder and leader of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) political party. Another of Burki's cousins, Majid Khan also served as Pakistan's cricket captain.
Burki's brothers include Dr. Nausherwan Khan Burki, a founding member of the Shaukat Khanum Memorial Cancer Hospital & Research Centre and Jamshed Burki, a career civil servant Interior Secretary.
After retiring from cricket, Burki joined the Pakistan Civil Service as part of the District Management Malakand Division – NWFP eventually working his way up to become Secretary to Government of Pakistan's Ministry of Commerce and Secretary Ministry of Water and Power (WAPDA). Burki also served as CEO of Pakistan Automobile Corporation (PACO) under whose leadership Pakistans first locally assembled car the Pak Suzuki Motor Company was launched.

Imran Khan
Imran Khan Niazi (born 5 October 1952) better known as Imran Khan is a Pakistani politician, former cricketer, philanthropist, cricket commentator and former chancellor of the University of Bradford. He is also founder of the Shaukat Khanum Memorial Cancer Hospital and the Namal College, Mianwali. Khan played international cricket for two decades in the late twentieth century and, after retiring, entered politics.
Khan was Pakistan's most successful cricket captain, leading his country to victory at the 1992 Cricket World Cup, playing for the Pakistani cricket team from 1971 to 1992, and serving as its captain intermittently throughout 1982–1992. After retiring from cricket at the end of the 1987 World Cup in 1988, owing to popular demand he was requested to come back by the president of Pakistan Zia ul Haq to lead the team once again. At the age of 39, Khan led his team to Pakistan's first and only One Day World Cup victory in 1992. With 3807 runs and 362 wickets in Test cricket, he is one of eight world cricketers to have achieved an 'All-rounder's Triple' in Test matches. On 14 July 2010, Khan was inducted into the ICC Cricket Hall of Fame.

The Dollars And Cents Of A Four Year Degree
When it comes down to the importance of an education there is no denying that the longer you stay in school the better off you are when it comes to earning potential over the course of your lifetime.
Recent estimates have presented some rather astonishing figures to support these claims however, and I for one think they are well worth mentioning.
Let’s discuss first things first however. A high school diploma will net the average citizen $200,000 additional dollars of lifetime income on average.
This is one small baby step when it comes to the educational process however. Some college, even without a degree will even increase that figure an additional $150,000 for a total of $350,000.
If this isn’t enough to convince you however try the facts and figures that are associated with the additional earning potential that a four-year degree introduces: $500,000.
This addition makes a total of $850,000 more over the course of a lifetime in earning potential.
I don’t know about you but I find those figures to be quite a nice motivator for going back and finishing a degree.
While a person’s education may not be an accurate indicator of his or her actual ability it is often used in the business world to narrow down a growing field of applicants for a sadly stagnate
number of positions across the country. There are things you just can’t see on a piece of paper and ability and capabilities are among those things. Businesses need a defining factor by which they
narrow down the field of potential employees and that defining characteristic is often a college degree in the field of business or a complimentary major course of study.
While this may not seem fair to many who have the practical skills companies are seeking employees that can fill multiple roles in order to eliminate positions that have been occupied in the past.
For this reason they want business people who have technical skills and a college education provides a brief introduction to many skills that are useful in these situations. Unfortunately,
the only way to know whether or not you have these specific skills is if you list them on your resume while those who have a four-year degree are believed to have them by the merit of their educations.
The earning potential alone should be enough to turn your head when it comes to the importance of earning a college degree though there are many more excellent reasons to pursue the completion of your
degree. If you haven’t considered some of the other wonderful reasons for returning to college and getting your degree, perhaps the reasons below will provide a little additional motivation.
1) Challenge. There is very little in life that offers the challenge of returning to college after an absence. It is a frightening prospect for many and yet can be equally as exciting.
You will find that the constant exposure to academic debate is a great way to feed your mind and open your eyes to new ideas. Challenge your preconceptions and challenge the limits of your own
experiences by opening up your mind to the thoughts and ideas of others.
2) Learn New Skills. There is never a bad time to begin learning new skills no matter what they say about old dogs and new tricks. The truth is that as long as you open your mind to learning you are
feeding it and that is a great thing.
3) Career advancement. Whether you realize it or not, a college degree is one of the quickest paths you can take to career advancement.
If the money wasn’t enough to convince you of the impact that a four-year degree can make in your life perhaps the reasons mentioned above were enough to do the trick. Whether or not you realize how
much a degree can affect your life the truth of the matter is that it can improve so many things about your life and how you view yourself and the world around you. Now is the perfect time to go back to

The bank's director for the region says Latin American economies show steady growth despite a temporary downturn caused by Mexico's currency crisis.
But while nations like Brazil, Chile and Mexico are emerging as economic powers in the region, poverty threatens to derail financial reform efforts in Latin America.
Shoring up Latin American economies is high on the list of reform priorities at the 181- nation spring summit of the International Monetary Fund and its sister organisation the World Bank.
The World Bank's director for Latin America says efforts to avert financial crisis in the region brought on by the devaluation of Mexico's peso would lead to new reform programmes designed to prevent a regional crisis.
Part of that effort, he says, is to move I-M-F and World Bank officials closer to the region.
At a briefing Tuesday, officials confirmed plans to move the Bank's Mexico director to the country.
SOUNDBITE:
But the fact that we are putting the person who is in charge of the programme, and takes all decisions in respect to the programme, in Mexico is a new experiment for the World Bank and I think it would lead to more efficiency on our part and I think it would also be a great advantage to the authorities in Mexico.

Burki says the Bank is not trying to take control of Mexico's finances away from Mexican officials, but to have a better feel for dealing with the country's lending needs.

by being in the country.
