HUNTRESS released their buzzworthy debut album "Spell Eater" on April 27, 2012 via Napalm Records. The album, which Metal Hammer calls "a magical debut from the hottest new act of 2012, " was just the beginning for the Southern California heavy metal pentad. Huntress recorded their second album "Starbound Beast" with producer Zeuss (SHADOWS FALL, HATEBREED, AGNOSTIC FRONT) at Hobby Shop Studios in Los Angeles. "Starbound Beast" will be released via Napalm Records on June 28, 2013 (Europe) and July 2, 2013 (North America ) HUNTRESS was spawned from the preternatural union of Jill Janus with underground metal bands PROFESSOR and DARK BLACK. HUNTRESS vocalist Jill Janus states the band's inspiration for the album came the cosmos. "I began to open the stargate with "Spell Eater", and specifically the song "Sleep and Death" which references deep space. We are children of Earth, but crave the stars, the vast galactic unknown. I began writing the second album while on tour last summer in Europe. I'd wake up at odd hours while everyone slept and began receiving lyrics and melodies that were expanding beyond my knowledge of the occult." Huntress, formed in 2009 and signed to Napalm Records in 2011, is a band that's coming up through the heavy metal ranks quickly. If you've been following us here at Yell! Magazine, then you know that we've been impressed by them since we were first exposed to them when they opened for Dragonforce. We finally had the chance to sit down with the gracious and vicious Jill Janus for an interview at Heavy MTL 2013.
Since our interview took place after the Huntress set, this being our second time seeing the band live, I told Jill that she was a "woman possessed." The witch then began chanting, tied me up, and put me in a cauldron for tenderizing. I'm kidding of course, but she is a pagan witch and she did give me a somewhat confused look, but she rolled with it. But onstage, she does look possessed when she opens her eyes wide, gives those theatrical looks toward the audience, delivers her death scream, and strikes those poses with her cape flowing in the wind.

Power Girl (real name Kara Zor-L, also known as Karen Starr) is a DC Comics superheroine, making her first appearance in All Star Comics #58 (January/February 1976).
Power Girl is the Earth-Two counterpart of Supergirl and the first cousin of Kal-L, Superman of the pre-Crisis Earth-Two. The infant Power Girl's parents enabled her to escape the destruction of Krypton. Although she left the planet at the same time that Superman did, her ship took much longer to reach Earth-Two.
Possessing superhuman strength and the ability to fly, she is a member of the Justice Society of America and the team's first chairwoman. Power Girl sports a bob of blond hair; wears a distinctive white, red, and blue costume; and has an aggressive fighting style. Throughout her early appearances in All Star Comics, Power Girl was frequently at odds with Wildcat, who had a penchant for talking to her as if she were an ordinary human female rather than a superpowered Kryptonian, which she found annoying.
The 1985 limited series Crisis on Infinite Earths eliminated Earth-Two, causing her origin to change; she became the granddaughter of the Atlantean sorcerer Arion. However, story events culminating in the 2005-2006 Infinite Crisis limited series restored her status as a refugee from the Krypton of the destroyed pre-Crisis Earth-Two universe. She was ranked ninth in Comics Buyer's Guide's "100 Sexiest Women in Comics" list.

HUNTRESS vocalist Jill Janus states the band's inspiration for the album came the cosmos. "I began to open the stargate with "Spell Eater", and specifically the song "Sleep and Death" which references deep space. We are children of Earth, but crave the stars, the vast galactic unknown. I began writing the second album while on tour last summer in Europe. I'd wake up at odd hours while everyone slept and began receiving lyrics and melodies that were expanding beyond my knowledge of the occult." Huntress, formed in 2009 and signed to Napalm Records in 2011, is a band that's coming up through the heavy metal ranks quickly. If you've been following us here at Yell! Magazine, then you know that we've been impressed by them since we were first exposed to them when they opened for Dragonforce. We finally had the chance to sit down with the gracious and vicious Jill Janus for an interview at Heavy MTL 2013.
Since our interview took place after the Huntress set, this being our second time seeing the band live, I told Jill that she was a "woman possessed." The witch then began chanting, tied me up, and put me in a cauldron for tenderizing. I'm kidding of course, but she is a pagan witch and she did give me a somewhat confused look, but she rolled with it. But onstage, she does look possessed when she opens her eyes wide, gives those theatrical looks toward the audience, delivers her death scream, and strikes those poses with her cape flowing in the wind.
