Hampshire (

Hampshire is the largest county in South East England and the third largest shire county in the United Kingdom despite losing more land than any other English county during the Local Government Act 1972 boundary changes. At its greatest size in 1889, Hampshire was the fifth largest county in England. It now has an overall area of 3,700 square kilometres (1,400 sq mi), and measures approximately 86 kilometres (53 mi) east–west and 76 kilometres (47 mi) north–south.

Whitechapel bells at All Saints, Alton, Hampshire
The beautiful Whitechapel six installed a couple of years ago at Alton, Hampshire. The tenor is 6-0-4 in B and the bells are lovely to ring and to listen to, cast to Gillett & Johnston specifications. That said I'm not really convinced they do sound like them but they are great nonetheless. It was quite difficult to get the church in due to the busy main road on the other church and further away the bells were a bit too quiet hence why it's on its side... is there a way to rotate it on YT?? -

The beautiful Whitechapel six installed a couple of years ago at Alton, Hampshire. The tenor is 6-0-4 in B and the bells are lovely to ring and to listen to, cast to Gillett & Johnston specifications. That said I'm not really convinced they do sound like them but they are great nonetheless. It was quite difficult to get the church in due to the busy main road on the other church and further away the bells were a bit too quiet hence why it's on its side... is there a way to rotate it on YT??

Nicky, who has had Nystagmus - a condition which causes her eye muscles to contently move - since she was a child, says that doctors had told her mum that she “would never do more than screwing bottle tops on bottles in a factory”. Almost eleven years ago Nicky plucked up the courage to get a job as a volunteer, as she was fed up of being in the house. This meant she had to travel by public transport with her cane. Just two months into her new job she was hit by a car on her way into work, which she says took away any confidence she had built up. Vermont Road Trip - DanTraveling
Since I was young, I have always wanted to go see the Vermont Inn that Bob Newhart made famous. Well we didn't get to see it but we sure did have a great road trip over from Maine to Vermont. Seven hours of backroads on Memorial Day. We saw and were involved/detoured in six parades that day. Ha This is a one of our favorite videos produced from our New England trip. From Bar Harbor, Maine to Stowe, Vermont and beyond. We stopped in small towns and antique stores as well as a few Maple Syrup stands. It was one sweet road trip.

We are notorious off season travelers, and we found ourselves, post Thanksgiving pre Christmas. In New Hampshire's North Country...the towns that gather in the northwest foothills of the White Moutains, just east of the Vermont border.
Yes it was a bit bleak, but just a few-miles from our comfortable stay at the Sunset Hill House, in Sugar Hill, turns out it was the perfect time for the Rocks Christmas Tree Farm, in.....Bethlehem NH..( http://www.therocks.org/).where families scoured the hillsides in search of the perfect tree.
Or hitched a wagon ride with these beauties (handsome dark work horses)..who made the rounds every 15 minutes or so.
And inside the big barn at The Rocks, there were all kinds of handmade creations to explore, warm coca or cider to drink, even a
basket weaving demonstration. It's a great meditation.
But the high point for me was probably watching a delicious batch
of Kingdom Kernels kettle corn, pop to life....plump, light, and with a perfect balance of salt and sweet. The best! (www.kingdomkernelskettlecorn.com)

Nicky, who has had Nystagmus - a condition which causes her eye muscles to contently move - since she was a child, says that doctors had told her mum that she “would never do more than screwing bottle tops on bottles in a factory”.
Almost eleven years ago Nicky plucked up the courage to get a job as a volunteer, as she was fed up of being in the house. This meant she had to travel by public transport with her cane.
Just two months into her new job she was hit by a car on her way into work, which she says took away any confidence she had built up. But after the incident, with the help of a friend, she finally looked into getting a guide dog and has never looked back.
She spoke to our community correspondent Alice Wheatley about how her newest guide dog Hilly has changed her life..

In the adjacent Granary Burial Ground some of America’s most famous sons are buried, such as John Hancock, Samuel Adams and Paul Revere. Portsmouth is a quaint little harbour town at the mouth of the Piscataqua River in which the fishing harbour still plays an important role and pretty brick houses are gems of colonial architecture that remain untainted by tourism. Brunswick is a deceptively small town situated at the mouth of the Kennebec River. The main attraction of this 270 year old town is Bowdoin College in which theologian Calvin Stowe taught, husband of Harriet Beecher Stowe who wrote Uncle Tom’s Cabin. The fishing town of Rockland is one of the largest exporters of lobster in the USA. There’s nowhere better to enjoy fresher, tastier and more varied seafood than on this part of the coast. Indeed, three quarters of American lobsters and other fish are prepared here. Established in 1919, Acadia National Park extends across most of Mount Desert Island and it was private individuals, particularly the billionaire John Rockefeller, who gifted this land to the State. It is now a collection of conservation areas that assures the preservation of this unique East Coast combination of lakes and mountains. New England is the traditional face of the United States…and the heart of America’s past.

In the past 5,000 years the Mississippi had seven different deltas prior to it being reinforced by embankments. When dykes strengthened the river, some side channels remained and these are the famous small rivers known as the Bayous, a labyrinth of small tributaries and waterways ‚Cowens’ is the name of the oldest life form in the swamp, a turtle that grows to about 10 to 25 centimetres long and feeds mainly on small fish and aquatic animals. Almost 30,000 hectares of swampland have been declared a nature reserve in which the complex balance between salt and freshwater reigns supreme and, when viewed from above, has the appearance of a strange network of city streets. The Delta area provides ideal conditions for many feathered species, including around four million ducks and also the national symbol of the USA, the white-headed sea eagle and the variety of animals living in this region, most notably the alligator, is also vast and includes beaver and racoon. The wonderful world of the Swamps with their legends and myths draw the traveller under their spell, a bewitching labyrinth of infinite waterways each one holding a special fascination. The allure of Nature is surely as puzzling as the innermost secrets of the Mississippi Swamps!

Since I was young, I have always wanted to go see the Vermont Inn that Bob Newhart made famous. Well we didn't get to see it but we sure did have a great road trip over from Maine to Vermont. Seven hours of backroads on Memorial Day. We saw and were involved/detoured in six parades that day. Ha
This is a one of our favorite videos produced from our New England trip.
From Bar Harbor, Maine to Stowe, Vermont and beyond. We stopped in small towns and antique stores as well as a few Maple Syrup stands. It was one sweet road trip.

Fire Crews tackle large Blaze in East Tisted
Firefighters are battling to save three outbuildings and a property in the outskirts of Alton, Hampshire. Six pumping appliances from five stations were called just before 10am this morning. Four crews wearing breathing apparatus and using two hose reels are attempting to tackle the well-developed blaze. The three outbuildings in Plain Farm Lane in the village of East Tisted are said to be well alight. Efforts in tackling the blaze are being hampered due the lack of water supply in the area. A water carrier has been mobilised to help firefighter in their attempts to bring the fire under the control and stop the blaze from spreading. South Central Ambulance Service have sent Hazardous Area Response team to the scene. The owners of the property are being cared for by the British Red Cross.... -

Firefighters are battling to save three outbuildings and a property in the outskirts of Alton, Hampshire.
Six pumping appliances from five stations were called just before 10am this morning. Four crews wearing breathing apparatus and using two hose reels are attempting to tackle the well-developed blaze.
The three outbuildings in Plain Farm Lane in the village of East Tisted are said to be well alight. Efforts in tackling the blaze are being hampered due the lack of water supply in the area. A water carrier has been mobilised to help firefighter in their attempts to bring the fire under the control and stop the blaze from spreading. South Central Ambulance Service have sent Hazardous Area Response team to the scene. The owners of the property are being cared for by the British Red Cross. No one is thought to have been in the blaze that is believed to have started accidentally in one of the out buildings.
Fire crews have managed to successfully stop the blaze from spreading the outbuilding into the main property that is attached. The property sustained roof and smoke damaged. Two of the out building were completed damaged 100% by fire.
Group Manager Brian Neat said "The crews did very well with quick commitment to fighting the fire on arrival."

Sir William Purdie Treloar (Lord Mayor of London 1906) founded a hospital in the country for crippled children. The hospital was opened in 1907 in Alton, Hampshire: SIR WILLIAM TRELOAR (Reel 1) Title: "Now to the college where permanently crippled boys are taught a useful trade". WS A boys dormitory. A man enters and the boys leap out of bed, quickly strip the sheets off their beds and run out. Title: "How many of you get up with such keenness and alacrity?". The bathroom. Sir William Purdie Treloar (Lord Mayor of London 1906) founded a hospital in the country for crippled children. The hospital was opened in 1907 in Alton, Hampshire: SIR WILLIAM TRELOAR (Reel 2) The children are taking part in an obstacle race: The crawl under a tarpaulin and through barrels swinging on ropes. Amongst them are boys on crutches. 'The Treacle Bun Race' - they must eat buns hanging from a piece of string. The boys in smart clothes walk past a priest on their way to church. The benefactors of the home meet with Sir William Treloar in the grounds. Sir William looks at the baskets that the children have woven. He chats to a child on a leg exercising machine. Mid Hants Railway Full Journey from Alton-Arlesford onboard 33109+3417
The full journey onboard 4VEP 3417 with 33109 thrashing up front. The Mid-Hants of Watercress line is a 10 mile long presvered railway from Alton to Arlesford. This footage was filmed during the April diesel gala 2013. Apologizes for sometimes pointing the camcorders towards the ground as my arm got cold and tired after while. If enjoy this I can do more full journeys on HSTs and other preserved lines. Not to sure why its not uploaded in HD. -

A tutor inspects it too. "A few specimens of their handiwork". A static display of leather cases, briefcases, wallets, bags etc. "In the bootshop they are not confined to the manufacture of ordinary footwear, but surgical boots - a highly skilled trade" Pan round the boys at work. "All the clothes for the college boys are made in the tailor's shop". A sewing room with boys sewing by hand and on sewing machines. "The afternoon is devoted to sport and the agility displayed is remarkable - and ample proof of the effectiveness of their treatment"
Boys playing football, many on crutches. Exercising with Indian clubs (Batons). A tug of war match. A group of boys holding boxing gloves. To small boys fiercely boxing on a mat whilst the other boys look on. Two more boys (both with only one leg) boxing. A sack race, the boys jump towards camera. A man swimming in a lake, paddling and diving. A group of children in swimming costumes cheer him on, Pan across the buildings and grounds of the hospital. Children playing in a lake. Children working in the garden with their nurse. William Treloar and a nurse walk past a row of children sunbathing. Sir William gets into his car. The hospital sign. A man holding a young child laughing. Various scenes in the sunshine - the children wear mostly bathing costumes and sun hats. The hospital beds have been pushed outside, and nurses give out medicines in the sunlight.

The children are taking part in an obstacle race: The crawl under a tarpaulin and through barrels swinging on ropes. Amongst them are boys on crutches. 'The Treacle Bun Race' - they must eat buns hanging from a piece of string. The boys in smart clothes walk past a priest on their way to church. The benefactors of the home meet with Sir William Treloar in the grounds. Sir William looks at the baskets that the children have woven. He chats to a child on a leg exercising machine. Pan along Sir William (always wearing a top hat), a nurse and several adults sitting in the sun in the garden under a parasol. Sir William removes his hat and puts on warm travelling clothes for the journey home in his open top car. Nurses ripping up sheets to make bandages. CU bandage preparation. The Convention commenced with Friday Prayers led by His Holiness Hazrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad, the World Leader of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community. The three-day international event has attracted global interest with around 30,000 delegates attending from dozens of countries.
This three-day Convention included a world-wide Initiation (Bai'at) Ceremony that is held every year at the time of Annual Convention in which large numbers of people from different countries gather at some places in their respective countries and then via satellite take an oath of allegiance at the hand of the Caliph of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community Hazrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad This historical ceremony was held on Sunday the 1st September 2013 (last day of the Convention) at 5.30 P.M. local time. Ahmadi Muslims across the country assembled in their mosques situated at Colombo, Negombo, Pasyala and Polonnaruawa and taking part in this Initiation Ceremony via MTA (Muslim Television Ahmadiyya) -- Community's FREE satellite TV. During the event, Ahmadiyya Head informed that 540782 people joined the Community in the past one year. The video also shows the program held in an Ahmadiyya Mosque at Negombo -- connecting the ceremony held in U.K.

A ride on several rights of way in between Andover, Winchester, Basingstoke, Alton and Petersfield in Hampshire on green roads where vehicular rights of way existed at the time of filming.
The ride started just north of Tidworth in Wiltshire and included a few dead-end roads and byways. This was a very long ride stopped short by yet another flat tyre.

LES HUMPHRIES (* 10. August 1940 in Croydon, London; † 26. Dezember 2007 in Basingstoke; eigentlich John Leslie Humphreys) war ein englischer Popmusiker, der in Deutschland mit seiner Gruppe, The Les Humphries Singers bekannt wurde. Humphries verkaufte mit seiner Band ab Anfang der 1970er-Jahre rund 40 Millionen Tonträger. 1966 kam Les Humphries nach Hamburg und trat zwei Jahre später als Organist in Achim Reichels Band The Wonderland ein. Danach spielte er bei „Summerset“. 1970 gründete er zusammen mit Henner Hoier die Gruppe, The Les Humphries Singers, die sehr erfolgreich wurde und viele Hits produzierte, z. B. „Promised Land“, „Mexico“, „Kansas City“ und „Mama Loo“. Eine seiner bekanntesten Kompositionen ist die Titelmelodie der Krimiserie Derrick, die Anklänge an den 2. Walzer aus Dmitri Schostakowitsch' Jazz-Suite hat.1972 heiratete er die Schlagersängerin Dunja Rajter in der Dorfkirche von Undeloh. Sie haben einen gemeinsamen Sohn, Danny Leslie Humphries (* 1974), der ebenfalls als Sänger und Gitarrist in der Band Glow in Erscheinung trat. Die Ehe wurde 1976 geschieden. Auch aus steuerlichen Gründen zog er sich wieder in seine Heimat zurück. Er arbeitete unter anderen Namen weiter. 1991 lud Les Humphries seine Gruppe nach Hamburg in die „NDR Talkshow“. Nach dieser Sendung bekamen die Les Humphries Singers einen Plattenvertrag und gingen 1992 als Vorgruppe von Howard Carpendale auf Deutschland Tournee. Es folgten Fernsehsendungen wie „Goldene Schlagerparade“ und „Wetten, dass...?“ (erste Sendung, nachdem die Moderation von Wolfgang Lippert übernommen wurde). Er war zuletzt in der MDR-Sendung „Meine Show“ mit Dagmar Frederic zu sehen. Der Meister ist leider krank, doch die Truppe steht, so war die Ansage der Moderatorin. Les Humphries hatte Prellungen an der Wirbelsäule nach einem Sturz erlitten. LES HUMPHRIES (* 10. August 1940 in Croydon, London; † 26. Dezember 2007 in Basingstoke; eigentlich John Leslie Humphreys) war ein englischer Popmusiker, der in Deutschland mit seiner Gruppe, The Les Humphries Singers bekannt wurde. Humphries verkaufte mit seiner Band ab Anfang der 1970er-Jahre rund 40 Millionen Tonträger. 1966 kam Les Humphries nach Hamburg und trat zwei Jahre später als Organist in Achim Reichels Band The Wonderland ein. Danach spielte er bei „Summerset“. 1970 gründete er zusammen mit Henner Hoier die Gruppe, The Les Humphries Singers, die sehr erfolgreich wurde und viele Hits produzierte, z. B. „Promised Land“, „Mexico“, „Kansas City“ und „Mama Loo“. Eine seiner bekanntesten Kompositionen ist die Titelmelodie der Krimiserie Derrick, die Anklänge an den 2. Walzer aus Dmitri Schostakowitsch' Jazz-Suite hat.1972 heiratete er die Schlagersängerin Dunja Rajter in der Dorfkirche von Undeloh. Sie haben einen gemeinsamen Sohn, Danny Leslie Humphries (* 1974), der ebenfalls als Sänger und Gitarrist in der Band Glow in Erscheinung trat. Die Ehe wurde 1976 geschieden. Auch aus steuerlichen Gründen zog er sich wieder in seine Heimat zurück. Er arbeitete unter anderen Namen weiter. 1991 lud Les Humphries seine Gruppe nach Hamburg in die „NDR Talkshow“. Nach dieser Sendung bekamen die Les Humphries Singers einen Plattenvertrag und gingen 1992 als Vorgruppe von Howard Carpendale auf Deutschland Tournee. Es folgten Fernsehsendungen wie „Goldene Schlagerparade“ und „Wetten, dass...?“ (erste Sendung, nachdem die Moderation von Wolfgang Lippert übernommen wurde). Er war zuletzt in der MDR-Sendung „Meine Show“ mit Dagmar Frederic zu sehen. Der Meister ist leider krank, doch die Truppe steht, so war die Ansage der Moderatorin. Les Humphries hatte Prellungen an der Wirbelsäule nach einem Sturz erlitten. Chris Christie’s bad month keeps getting worse. he dropped out of the presidential race after an abysmal finish in New Hampshire, he endorsed Donald Trump to the Republican establishment’s revulsion, and six of his home-state newspapers called on him to resign. You’d think that, at this point, the New Jersey governor’s parade of missteps would be over. But lo and behold, Christie can’t help himself....
