Over 1000 voters in the health secretary, Jeremy Hunt’s constituency have joined an unprecedented nationwide mass movement by raising ‘Cameron & Hunt’ estate agency boards calling on David Cameron to use his veto to get the NHS out of the dangerous trade deal called TTIP. But the council spuriously used advertising regulations to stop this legitimate and peaceful political campaign and to gag local residents. Campaigners are calling on Jeremy Hunt to urge David Cameron to use his veto to get the NHS out of a dangerous trade agreement called TTIP. But local residents are continuing to demand that Jeremy Hunt acts. Simon Pullen from the People’s NHS said: “The People’s NHS will deliver A petition signed by local people calling for Cameron to veto NHS out of TTIP. “The local council has been involved in a sinister and organised programme of gagging law-abiding citizens who care about the NHS. We will also be expressing our concerns about the council’s behaviour to Jeremy Hunt and make it clear that this behaviour only strengthens our resolve.” The trade deal is being negotiated behind closed doors, between EU bureaucrats and delegates from the United States. It is the largest bilateral trade deal ever negotiated and threatens to make the ongoing privatisation of the NHS irreversible by giving the profits of corporation’s precedence over national lawmakers. TTIP could grant American multinationals, or any firm with American investors, the power to sue the government if it ever attempted to take privatised health services back into public ownership.
