History:
If you don't know about history of the Golden Horde, than let me introduce to you. The Golden Horde was a Mongol khanate established in the 13th century and originating as the northwestern sector of the Mongol Empire. With the fragmentation of the Mongol Empire after 1259 it became a functionally separate khanate. Sometimes It is also known as the Kipchak Khanate. The khanate experienced violent internal political disorder beginning in 1359. However, soon after the 1396 invasion of Timur, the founder of the Timurid Empire, the Golden Horde broke into smaller Tatar khanates which declined steadily in power. At the start of the 15th century the Horde began to fall apart.
By 1466 it was being referred to simply as the "Great Horde".

Sadigh Gallery Antiquities Collection: Persian Ceramics
Pottery making in the Iranian Plateau dates back to the Early Neolithic Age (7th millennium BCE) with the production of coarse, unglazed wares. Later wares were made from earthenware clays with a layer of white slip (engobe). They were covered by transparent lead glazes and colors were added with oxides. Persian ceramics matured with time into more elaborate styles and techniques.

A survey of Iran's rich and diverse musical traditions. On the one hand, there is Persian classical music or canonical repertoire, cultivated mostly in the centre of the Iranian plateau in the cities such as Qazvin, Shiraz, Isfahan and Tehran; and on the other, ‘regional musical traditions’. Iran has long been home to many ethnic groups including Turks, Kurds, Baluchis, Lors, and Arabs, who live mostly on the periphery of the current political boundaries. Each community has its own language and their own musical practices which indeed share many common features with the music of the same ethnic groups living outside Iranian borders. As there are many affinities between languages and musical styles, sung poetry has long been appreciated in Iran; musicians were often poets, and vice versa.

But dark clouds were on the horizon. An ancient rivalry with Greece would erupt into an epic clash that changed the course of history, and shaped the western world for thousands of years to come. 330 BC: a young Macedonian king conquers the Persian Empire and leads his invading army into Persepolis, its spectacular capital city. The Macedonian ruler is Alexander the Great, an admirer of the great Persian kings. By sundown, the Greek victory celebration degenerates into a drunken melee. By sunup, Persepolis, the crown jewel of the Persian Empire with palaces unrivaled anywhere in the world, is burned to the ground. More than 2,500 years later, these immense towers stand as testament to the soaring heights this now forgotten empire once reached.
I equate Persia with luxury, with rich tapestries and beautiful rugs, and my mother's fat, fuzzy Persian cat named Otis. But I also think of a fantastic Persian king named Cyrus the Great who believed in religious and cultural tolerance; and who freed the Jews from Babylon to return to Israel. Hello, I'm Peter Weller, and welcome to the Persian Empire. Around 4,000 BC, two nomadic tribes were starting to take root in a rich, but hot Iranian plateau: the Medes in the north, the Persians in the south. Being as that these tribes were nomadic, they were more interested in survival than conquest. As they became less nomadic, they had to learn how to farm--in particular, how to cultivate this fertile Iranian plateau. But to do that, they needed a source of water. The early Persians may have very well become dust in the winds of history had they not unlocked a source of water; and just as importantly, a means to channel that water to their crops and settlements. And what makes this engineering feat so remarkable, is that they found this water not from rivers or lakes or oceans, but from the most unlikely source of all: rocks.
Persia emerged out of nothing--a rugged, hostile terrain built with only invention and determination. Three thousand years ago, nomadic, early Persians roamed the parched, forbidding Iranian plateau. Finding water meant travelling long distances. It fell to a hybrid engineer, geologist, and diviner called a "mogane" to figure out how to bring it back to his people. Using nothing more than stone chisels, moganes would build the first cornerstone of the Persian Empire. A breakthrough system of underground irrigation canals called "qanats". They began by harnessing gravity to exploit the natural topography of their land, which sloped relentlessly from the Alborz Mountains towards the Persian gulf. Vertical shafts were first dug down from the surface and the tunnel was excavated horizontally for a short distance. Then another vertical shaft was built approximately three-quarters of a mile up the slope, and the channel continued.
That can sometimes be 20, 30, 40 kilometers away, so it's a very skilled operation to the point where the gradient of the water channel meets the aquifer, or the groundwater, sloping up at the point where the mountains begin.
The angle of the slope was crucial: one unit in elevation for every hundred on the horizontal.
Not too steep because that would erode the base of the water channel, and of course, not so flat as to prevent the water from moving to its intended destination.
Water means food, but the engineering technology to locate that water and move it was a carrot that the Persians were dangling if front of their neighbors. Around 700 BC, all of these tribes were united under one legendary figure named Achaemenes, who founded a dynasty. But this dynasty thrived and flourished under one guy--a guy I would have liked to have met--named Cyrus the Great. Cyrus created and maintained and empire, thanks no doubt to his military savvy; but he was also a political genius. He was an excellent benevolent manager of men. Historians have called him humanist, the Jews calling "mashiach", or anointed one. His own people called him "father", and even the Ionian Greeks whom he conquered called him a just and worthy lawgiver and ruler.
Cyrus the Great came to power in 559 BC. It was the beginning of the Achaemenid Dynasty. Their reign would change the course of history and redefine architectural possibility
If you're looking at the greatest personages in history, who have affected the world, Cyrus the Great is one of the few who deserves that epithet, the one who deserves to be called "The Great". The empire over which Cyrus ruled was the largest the ancient world had ever seen, and may be to this day the largest empire ever.

Iran, also known as Persia, is a country in Western Asia. It is bordered to the northwest by Armenia, the de facto independent Nagorno-Karabakh Republic and Azerbaijan; with Kazakhstan and Russia across the Caspian Sea; to the northeast by Turkmenistan; to the east by Afghanistan and Pakistan; to the south by the Persian Gulf and the Gulf of Oman; and to the west by Turkey and Iraq. Comprising a land area of 1,648,195 km2 (636,372 sq mi), it is the second-largest nation in the Middle East and the 18th-largest in the world. With 78.4 million inhabitants, Iran is the world's 17th most populous nation. It is the only country that has both a Caspian Sea and an Indian Ocean coastline. Iran has long been of geostrategic importance because of its central location in Eurasia and Western Asia, and its proximity to the Strait of Hormuz.
Iran is home to one of the world's oldest civilizations, beginning with the formation of the Proto-Elamite and Elamite kingdom in 3200–2800 BC. The Iranian Medes unified the area into the first of many empires in 625 BC, after which it became the dominant cultural and political power in the region.
Iran reached the pinnacle of its power during the Achaemenid Empire founded by Cyrus the Great in 550 BC, which at its greatest extent comprised major portions of the ancient world, stretching from parts of the Balkans (Thrace-Macedonia, Bulgaria-Paeonia) and Eastern Europe proper in the west, to the Indus Valley in the east, making it the largest empire the world had yet seen. The empire collapsed in 330 BC following the conquests of Alexander the Great. The Parthian Empire emerged from the ashes and was succeeded by the Sassanid Dynasty (Neo-Persian empire) in 224 AD, under which Iran again became one of the leading powers in the world, along with the Roman-Byzantine Empire, for a period of more than four centuries.
Iran is the 18th largest country in the world and consists of the Iranian Plateau with the exception of the coasts of the Caspian Sea and Khuzestan Province. It is one of the world's most mountainous countries, its landscape dominated by rugged mountain ranges that separate various basins or plateaux from one another. The populous western part is the most mountainous, with ranges such as the Caucasus, Zagros and Alborz Mountains; the last contains Iran's highest point, Mount Damavand at 5,610 m (18,406 ft), which is also the highest mountain on the Eurasian landmass west of the Hindu Kush.
The northern part of Iran is covered by dense rain forests called Shomal or the Jungles of Iran. The eastern part consists mostly of desert basins such as the Dasht-e Kavir, Iran's largest desert, in the north-central portion of the country, and the Dasht-e Lut, in the east, as well as some salt lakes. This is because the mountain ranges are too high for rain clouds to reach these regions.
The only large plains are found along the coast of the Caspian Sea and at the northern end of the Persian Gulf, where Iran borders the mouth of the Arvand river. Smaller, discontinuous plains are found along the remaining coast of the Persian Gulf, the Strait of Hormuz and the Gulf of Oman.
