Beautiful (Vivian Green album)

Beautiful is the third studio album by American singer-songwriter Vivian Green, released by E1 Music on April 6, 2010 in the United States. The album is heavily produced by Grammy- nominated long-time friend and collaborator Anthony Bell with an addition production cut from Jason Farmer. Beautiful is the album's leading single and was released February 23, 2010. The song entitled "Jordan's Song" is also a dedication to her son.

In its opening week, the album debuted at #101 on Billboard 200, #26 on R&B/Hip-Hop Albums, and #13 on Independent Albums. To date, the album has sold more than 22,061 copies.

Critical reception

Critical reaction to Vehicles & Animals was generally positive. Review aggregator Metacritic, which assigns a normalised score out of 100 to reviews from mainstream critics, awarded the album a rating of 63 based on 17 reviews, suggesting "generally favorable reviews".Time Out called the album a "gloriously understated and wonderfully consistent debut".Playlouder gave the record four out of five, hailing the tracks as "impeccably polished radio-friendly gems" – The Times similarly labelled the album a "British pop gem". Ben Gilbert of Dotmusic gave the album seven out of ten, describing the album as a "promising debut".

Awards and accolades

In 2003 the album was nominated for the Mercury Music Prize, an annual award honouring the year's best albums from the UK and Ireland – the prize was ultimately won by Boy in Da Corner by Dizzee Rascal. In December, British music magazine Q named Vehicles & Animals as the 32nd best album released that year, calling it "the year's best wobbly indie-rock album". In April 2005, the album was awarded platinum certification by the British Phonographic Industry for having sold over 300,000 units in the UK.

Beautiful (Enrique Iglesias song)

"Beautiful" is a song by Spanish singer Enrique Iglesias from his tenth studio album, Sex and Love. It features Australian recording artist Kylie Minogue and was also on her Kiss Me Once album. "Beautiful" was written by Iglesias, Mark Taylor, Alex Smith, and Samuel Preston, and it was produced by Taylor and Smith. The song was released as promotional single in Australia and New Zealand on 14 March 2014.

Stand!

Stand! is the fourth studio album by soul/funk band Sly and the Family Stone, written and produced by lead singer and multi-instrumentalist Sly Stone and released on May 3, 1969 on Epic Records, just before the group's celebrated performance at the Woodstock festival. Stand! was the band's most commercially successful album to date, with over 500,000 copies sold in the year of its release: it was certified gold in sales by the Recording Industry Association of America on December 4, 1969, went on to sell over three million copies and became one of the most successful albums of the 1960s. By 1986 it had sold well over 1 million copies and was certified platinum in sales by the RIAA on November 26 of that same year.

Stand! is also considered an artistic high-point of the band's career. In 2003 the album was ranked number 118 on Rolling Stone magazine's list of the 500 greatest albums of all time. It includes several well-known songs, among them hit singles, such as "Sing a Simple Song", "I Want to Take You Higher", "Stand!", and "Everyday People".

Empire Circus

Empire Circus is a 4-piece alternative rock band from Dublin, Ireland currently residing in Dublin. Originally compared to early R.E.M., The Smithereens, and Lennon, they have more recently been compared to early Maroon 5, Young The Giant, and Arcade Fire.

History

Early days

The members of Stand were working-class childhood friends and schoolmates. They considered each other family. They formed a garage band together in Dublin, Ireland in 1994. The band played a lot of gigs and saved enough to set up their own digital recording studio.

Correspondent

In 1999 Stand released their first album, Correspondent. The album was produced by Pat Donne (Picture House, Paddy Casey). The album was released on the band's independent label, New World Music, and sold 20,000 copies. Two singles from Correspondent, appeared on the Irish charts in 1999. "Breathing, but there's no air" reached No. 23 and "Questions" made it to No. 9. The year culminated in the band's show in Vicar street. The show in Vicar Street was sold out.

Alive (Ed Kowalczyk album)

Alive is the debut solo album by former Live lead singer Ed Kowalczyk.

History

Kowalczyk entered the studio in early 2010 to record material that he began writing in 2008. He wrote songs for Alive with an acoustic guitar, as he had when he wrote for Live.

The lyrics on Alive feature much religious and spiritual imagery. Kowalczyk's acknowledgement of his faith is much more explicit on this album than it was on his work with Live. The album entered Billboard's Christian albums chart at number six.

The album entered the charts in the Netherlands, debuting at number four on the Dutch albums chart. It has also charted in the United States, Belgium, and Australia.

Grey: Fifty Shades of Grey As Told by Christian, also referred to as Grey, is a 2015 erotic romance by British author, E. L. James. It is the fourth installment in the Fifty Shades series, which had its start as fanfiction for the popular vampire fiction series Twilight. The books were originally written from the female character's point of view; whereas Grey is written from the male character's point of view and is a retelling of the events of the first installment.

The novel was released on 18 June 2015 to coincide with the birth date of the character Christian Grey. The work's first printing run consisted of 1.25 million copies.

Summary

Christian Grey, a successful and rich 27-year-old businessman, meets 21-year-old university student Anastasia "Ana" Steele when she interviews him on behalf of her friend/roommate Katherine "Kate" Kavanagh (being sick with the flu at the time) for the university newspaper. The characters develop an attraction for each other and Christian proposes a sadomasochistic relationship with Ana.
