I had the pleasure of playing keyboards in many of the songs used in this movie. I also used my Steiner Parker Synthacon for music and sound effects through much of the animated shorts, and various scenes throughout the movie. I'm listed in the end credits, twice.
Synopsis: When a reporter too laid-back for his own good is told his last chance to keep his job is to get some good photos for a story on skateboarding, he seeks out a group of four boarders who agree to take him on a skateboarding tour of California. After showing extensive footage of skateboarding moves and tricks, the film then goes on to show some surfing and snowboarding. The film is also bookended by a pair of animated shorts, both about skateboarding.
Review: You have to look at this film as a time capsule of the way skateboarding was. The skate parks that are no longer there, the long hair, the short shorts. This film took a few years to make and it was started at a time in skateboarding when the sport was evolving every month. Boards were changing shape, truck sizes changes. Early during the filming, skaters where just starting to hit coping and barely get air. Most skate parks were organic very flowing parks with no vertical, and by the end of the film, skate parks had been built with lots of vertical and pool coping. It seemed like the film was never going to be finished because it would have been outdated by the time it came out, so they kept trying to get the newest tricks on film before finishing it. Anyhow, great film!
Hal Jepsen was born in 1940, in Los Angeles, California and began surfing at 17. He received a Bachelor of Science degree from UCLA in 1968, and became a real estate agent before producing his first surf film "Cosmic Children" in 1970. Jepsen's best known work showcased Hawaiian surfers Jeff Hakman and Barry Kanaiaupuni in their prime. Jepsen followed with three more full-length surf movies:
"A Sea for Yourself" in 1973, along with "Super Session" in 1975, and "We Got Surf" in 1981. In 1978 he branched out into skateboarding with the film "Skateboard Madness," staring Stacy Peralta.
In 1997, his filmmaking accomplishments were profiled in The Surfers Journal's 50 Years of Surfing on Film series for the Outdoor Life Network.
Hal's extensive work in the early 70's surfing and skateboarding subcultures is revered today in documentaries and feature films, such as "The Lords Of Dogtown."

Allen Garfield, born and sometimes credited as Allen Goorwitz (born November 22, 1939), is an American film and television actor.
Garfield was born in Newark, New Jersey, the son of Alice (née Lavroff) and Philip Goorwitz. A graduate of Weequahic High School, he was a sports reporter and Golden Gloves boxer before becoming an actor. He studied acting at The Actors Studio in New York City, studying with both Lee Strasberg and Elia Kazan, and worked in stage before film. Garfield is a quirky and prolific actor who has appeared in over 100 films and television shows. He is known for playing nervous villains, corrupt businessmen and politicians. In addition he has appeared in two art films by German director Wim Wenders, Der Stand der Dinge and Bis ans Ende der Welt. Garfield has one sister, Lois.

I had the pleasure of playing keyboards in many of the songs used in this movie. I also used my Steiner Parker Synthacon for music and sound effects through much of the animated shorts, and various scenes throughout the movie. I'm listed in the end credits, twice.
Synopsis: When a reporter too laid-back for his own good is told his last chance to keep his job is to get some good photos for a story on skateboarding, he seeks out a group of four boarders who agree to take him on a skateboarding tour of California. After showing extensive footage of skateboarding moves and tricks, the film then goes on to show some surfing and snowboarding. The film is also bookended by a pair of animated shorts, both about skateboarding.
Review: You have to look at this film as a time capsule of the way skateboarding was. The skate parks that are no longer there, the long hair, the short shorts. This film took a few years to make and it was started at a time in skateboarding when the sport was evolving every month. Boards were changing shape, truck sizes changes. Early during the filming, skaters where just starting to hit coping and barely get air. Most skate parks were organic very flowing parks with no vertical, and by the end of the film, skate parks had been built with lots of vertical and pool coping. It seemed like the film was never going to be finished because it would have been outdated by the time it came out, so they kept trying to get the newest tricks on film before finishing it. Anyhow, great film!
Hal Jepsen was born in 1940, in Los Angeles, California and began surfing at 17. He received a Bachelor of Science degree from UCLA in 1968, and became a real estate agent before producing his first surf film "Cosmic Children" in 1970. Jepsen's best known work showcased Hawaiian surfers Jeff Hakman and Barry Kanaiaupuni in their prime. Jepsen followed with three more full-length surf movies:
"A Sea for Yourself" in 1973, along with "Super Session" in 1975, and "We Got Surf" in 1981. In 1978 he branched out into skateboarding with the film "Skateboard Madness," staring Stacy Peralta.
In 1997, his filmmaking accomplishments were profiled in The Surfers Journal's 50 Years of Surfing on Film series for the Outdoor Life Network.
Hal's extensive work in the early 70's surfing and skateboarding subcultures is revered today in documentaries and feature films, such as "The Lords Of Dogtown."

John Garfield (March 4, 1913 -- May 21, 1952) was an American actor adept at playing brooding, rebellious, working-class characters.[1] He grew up in poverty in Depression-era New York City and in the early 1930s became an important member of the Group Theater. In 1937, he moved to Hollywood, eventually becoming one of Warner Bros.' major stars. Called to testify before the U.S. Congressional House Committee on Un-American Activities (HUAC), he denied Communist affiliation and refused to "name names", effectively ending his film career. He played the title role in the television series Colonel Humphrey Flack, which first appeared in 1953-1954 and then was revived in 1958-1959. In the 1954-1955 television season Mowbray played Mr. Swift, the drama coach of the character Mickey Mulligan, in NBC's short-lived situation comedy The Mickey Rooney Show: Hey, Mulligan.
Mowbray died of a heart attack in 1969 in Hollywood and was interred in the Holy Cross Cemetery in Culver City, California.

Suggesting he leave the city for a while, McDermott sends Ernie to the Rockies to interview renowned ornithologist Nell Porter (Blair Brown) who studies the habits of the endangered American bald eagle. It's a case of loathe at first sight when the chain smoking, big city Souchak meets the reclusive nature-lover Porter! But despite their differences, Souchak's trip west soon turns into a fun-filled romantic adventure as these two trek through the mountains at the top of the world along the Continental Divide!

One of my favorite movies of 2015 is Ramin Bahrani‘s heart-wrenching look at the foreclosure crisis, 99 Homes. Inspired by true events, the film stars Michael Shannon as a businessman who makes a comfortable living serving eviction notices and carrying out removals of people from their homes. Andrew Garfield is a single father who experiences Shannon’s work first hand, but is then given the opportunity to try and get his house back by working for Shannon’s character.
Besides the amazing performances by both Shannon and Garfield, what’s exceptional about 99 Homes is the way Bahrani lets scenes play out by refusing to embellish them. At times you feel like you’re in the middle of a documentary because Bahrani likes to use real people, and that authenticity works flawlessly in the film. Trust me, you want to see this movie. 99 Homes also stars Laura Dern, Noah Lomax, Tim Guinee, J.D. Evermore, and Clancy Brown.

Paul Allen Williams, beloved husband, father, grandfather and friend, passed away peacefully, Thursday, March 28, 2013 in Gilbert, Arizona after suffering from Aplastic Anemia at the age of 75. Through years of struggle with Rheumatoid Arthritis, he is finally free from his earthly pain. He was born in Garfield, Utah on September 12, 1937, but grew up in Spanish Fork, Utah. He is preceded in death by his parents, Allen Berry and Delila Gardner Williams and sister, Helen Ann Pawlowksi.
Paul married Kathy Clarke on June 24, 1966, in the Salt Lake LDS Temple and moved to Mesa, Arizona where they raised their large family of one daughter and seven sons.
Paul was dedicated to his family. He was faithful to his heritage and strove to live a life worthy of the blessing he had received from those who had come before. Paul was a strong influence for good in the lives of his children, grandchildren and was a doting grandfather. He was an active and devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served faithfully in many callings. In the last few days of his life, he admonished each family member to keep the commandments. His righteous example and strong testimony will be a heritage to al who knew him.
Memorial services were held in Mesa Arizona on April 4, 2013 and a second funeral service will be held on Tuesday, April 9, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. in the Walker Funeral Home Chapel, 187 S. Main Street, Spanish Fork, Utah. Interment will be in the Spanish Fork City Cemetery.

"Radio With Pictures" - Series Synopsis ►
For a generation of music fans rock show Radio with Pictures was their link to local and international music — and essential viewing before TV2's Sunday night horror movies. Following on from the Grunt Machine in 1976, its presenters included Dr Rock (Barry Jenkin), Phil O'Brien, Karyn Hay and Dick Driver. RWP's run coincided with the rise of MTV and the music video, and a burgeoning 80s New Zealand music scene. Videos were a staple but artist interviews also featured and the show staged a number of televised concerts featuring leading local artists.
Richard Driver began his showbiz career in a punk band, and calling himself Johnny Abort. He then moved on to the popular Kiwi rock bands Pop Mechanix and Hip Singles. Driver made his TV presenting debut replacing Karyn Hay on Radio with Pictures and hosted the show for three years. He later collaborated with Hay making music television for several years, ran the New Zealand arm of Screentime, and then formed his own company called Visionary Productions. Driver has made several influential documentaries such as Hokonui Todd, about the life of Garfield Todd, and Love, Speed and Loss, the story of racing star Kim Newcombe and his widow Janeen. More recently Driver set up The Documentary Channel on the Sky TV platform. In this ScreenTalk interview, Driver discusses:

"Radio With Pictures" - Series Synopsis ►
For a generation of music fans rock show Radio with Pictures was their link to local and international music — and essential viewing before TV2's Sunday night horror movies. Following on from the Grunt Machine in 1976, its presenters included Dr Rock (Barry Jenkin), Phil O'Brien, Karyn Hay and Dick Driver. RWP's run coincided with the rise of MTV and the music video, and a burgeoning 80s New Zealand music scene. Videos were a staple but artist interviews also featured and the show staged a number of televised concerts featuring leading local artists.
Richard Driver began his showbiz career in a punk band, and calling himself Johnny Abort. He then moved on to the popular Kiwi rock bands Pop Mechanix and Hip Singles. Driver made his TV presenting debut replacing Karyn Hay on Radio with Pictures and hosted the show for three years. He later collaborated with Hay making music television for several years, ran the New Zealand arm of Screentime, and then formed his own company called Visionary Productions. Driver has made several influential documentaries such as Hokonui Todd, about the life of Garfield Todd, and Love, Speed and Loss, the story of racing star Kim Newcombe and his widow Janeen. More recently Driver set up The Documentary Channel on the Sky TV platform. In this ScreenTalk interview, Driver discusses:

According to 38 North, “limited movement of vehicles and equipment” were photographed at the North Portal, which has been the site of the last three nuclear tests in North Korea. At the Main Support Area, a truck appeared to be seen on April 19, in a similar location to where activity was before a nuclear test in 2013.At the West Portal, 38 North said “two small mine ore carts,” were present on April 19....
