Extreme Concrete Leveling In Phoenix (Arcadia District) Prior To Hardwood Flooring Installation

Since many people assume that the videos I produce are the same techniques used by everyone else, I wanted to set the record straight. The aluminum screeds and the way they are set up within a home are a process I pioneered. Because I'm always looking for a way to set myself apart from competition, I devised a way so exact that it produces a floor flat to 1/16" in 50 linear feet. If you are a particular homeowner (and most are) the skills of flattening floors are crucial if you expect perfection in your finished hardwood flooring installation. I was previously concerned that my methods would be copied, but that is a small likelihood. Given the huge cost of the equipment and the aluminum screeds, most installers will never attempt to duplicate that which I have shown here. Also, since I specialize in residential flooring remodeling, commercial installers will never be my competition. Commercial installers are not as picky, plus their methods usually involve pumping large amounts of leveler often 1" or more thick over the entire area. This creates huge problems when trying to maintain critical tolerances in doorways, thresholds, cabinets, etc. The best approach to residential flattening of concrete is to grind down the high spots and fill in the low spots. These videos are designed to show homeowners the huge amount of work, which goes into preparing concrete slabs 50 or 60 years old. Everyone assumes that these old floors are already flat. Nothing could be further from reality. These floors are often the worst to prepare, considering the hardness of the concrete to grind. They often have rolling humps and dips in excess of 1" in 3 linear feet. None of this is visible to the naked eye, so we must use a laser or screeds to make this apparent. This video demonstrates fully how incredibly un-flat and un-level these homes in the Phoenix Arcadia district can be.
