Overture

Overture (French ouverture, lit. "opening"; German Ouvertüre, Vorspiel, i.e., "prelude", lit. "play before") in music is the term originally applied to the instrumental introduction to an opera. During the early Romantic era, composers such as Beethoven and Mendelssohn began to use the term to refer to independent, self-existing instrumental, programmatic works that presaged genres such as the symphonic poem. These were "at first undoubtedly intended to be played at the head of a programme".

History

17th century

The idea of an instrumental opening to opera existed during the 17th century. Peri's Euridice opens with a brief instrumental ritornello, and Monteverdi's L'Orfeo (1607) opens with a toccata, in this case a fanfare for muted trumpets. More important, however, was the prologue, which comprised sung dialogue between allegorical characters which introduced the overarching themes of the stories depicted.

Overture (software)

Overture is a music notation (scorewriter) program for Windows and Macintosh platforms, written by Don Williams. Visually, the Overture interface resembles Encore, another notation program originally by the same author. However, Overture is the first scorewriter program to feature full Virtual Studio Technology (VST) hosting; the software also plays MIDI files.

Current version

As of May 2015, Overture is at version 4.1.5.

Editing

In Overture, input of note data can be done by any of several methods: QWERTY keyboard, mouse, step entry MIDI keyboard recording, or real-time MIDI keyboard recording. Most notational symbols can be repositioned simply by dragging them with the mouse. Most other editing of notational symbols is performed by selecting the symbols using the mouse, and selecting the appropriate editing command from a menu or by clicking on a palette. MIDI data is edited in a special graphical view, where each note appears as a bar on a piano roll. Editing is done simply by adjusting the bars by dragging with the mouse.

On Through the Night

On Through the Night is the debut album by English rock band Def Leppard, released in 1980. The album was produced by Tom Allom. It charted at No. 15 on the UK Albums Chart and No. 51 on the Billboard 200. The album features re-recorded versions of "Rocks Off" and "Overture", tracks from the band's original independently released EP, The Def Leppard E.P. Other tracks are re-recorded versions of early demos, some of which appeared on the First Strike and Warchild bootlegs. The album was certified platinum by the RIAA on 9 May 1989.

"Rocks Off", "Wasted", "Hello America" and "Rock Brigade" were released as singles. However, the versions of "Rocks Off" (titled "Getcha Rocks Off") and "Wasted" that appears on the singles is a different recording from that of the LP, as is its B-side, "Hello America". The single "Getcha Rocks Off" included the songs "Ride into the Sun" and "Overture".

Reception

Madness (Ivi Adamou song)

"Madness" is a song performed by the Cypriot artist Ivi Adamou and a member of the new Greek up-coming band/project tU, Dimitris Domakos. This song will be in Ivi's new studio album. It's the English version of "Fige" a song from her first studio album, San Ena Oniro, however the two versions of the song have a different lyrical meaning.

It first announced that the video will be released on 5 July but it released one day earlier, on 4 July.

Synopsis

Adamou is a photographer-reporter while Dimitris (tU lead singer) is graffiti boy. One night she follows him, to plans a big graffiti of the (+) symbol of Amita Motion (wearing mask) and secretly she photographs him. Seeing the pictures which she has taken she falls in love. Watching him and other nights in various places of the city, doing graffiti, siting and reading, talking to a chamber, walking. She photographs him endlessly and he realizes her. They walk both to the street and reach to the same place. She sings to him and they coming closer, the time which going to kiss each other, somebody with motorcycle passes in front of the camera the kiss is missed.

Newgrounds

Newgrounds is an American entertainment and social media website and company. Founded on July 6, 1995 by Tom Fulp, the site presently hosts games, movies, audio and artwork in four respective hubs, or Portals. Tom Fulp remains the site's owner and still regularly produces in-house content. Its offices are headquartered in the Glenside neighborhood of Cheltenham Township on the northern border of Philadelphia.

1991-1997

In 1991, Tom Fulp launched a Neo Geo fanzine by the name "New Ground" (from the Greek roots neo- and geo- translated into English) from his parents' basement in Perkasie, PA, sending sporadic issues to around 100 members of a club on Prodigy. At this time New Ground was an entirely offline venue, and it was not until 1995 that he decided to create his own web page, naming it New Ground Remix to imply moving content online was the next step up in the brand's history.

New Ground Remix had a small amount of content, but did not gain a significant audience until summer of 1996, when Tom created the games "Club a Seal" and "Assassin," which brought viewers to New Ground based on their notoriety. In 1997, Fulp created the games "Club a Seal II" and "Assassin II," and decided that he wanted a new place to host these games. He created a separate website, New Ground Atomix, for this purpose.

Madness are an English ska band from Camden Town, London, that formed in 1976. One of the most prominent bands of the late 1970s and early 1980s 2 Tone ska revival, they continue to perform with their most recognised line-up of seven members.

Madness achieved most of their success in the early to mid-1980s. Both Madness and UB40 spent 214 weeks on the UK singles charts over the course of the decade, holding the record for most weeks spent by a group in the 1980s UK singles charts. However, Madness achieved this in a shorter time period (1980–1986).

Madness have had 15 singles reach the UK top ten, one UK number one single ("House of Fun") and two number ones in Ireland, "House of Fun" and "Wings of a Dove".

Career

1976–1978: Formation

The core of the band formed as The North London Invaders in 1976, and included Mike Barson (Monsieur Barso) on keyboards and vocals, Chris Foreman (Chrissy Boy) on guitar and Lee Thompson (Kix) on saxophone and vocals. They later recruited John Hasler on drums and Cathal Smyth (better known as Chas Smash) on bass guitar. Later in the year, they were joined by lead vocalist Dikron Tulane.
