Michael "Mike" "Monsieur Barso" Barson (born 21 April 1958) is a Scottish-born English musician and songwriter. He gained fame as the keyboardist for the ska/pop band Madness.
Born in Edinburgh, Barson grew up in North London with his two brothers Dan and Ben. He is often known by the nicknames "Monsieur Barso" or "Barzo".
Prior to forming Madness, Barson and fellow future Madness member Lee Thompson gained some notoriety as graffiti artists in the mid-1970s. After reading about the emerging New York graffiti scene, they spray-painted their nicknames ("Mr B" and "Kix") along with two friends' names "Cat" and "Columbo" around north London. They managed to spray their nicknames on George Melly's garage door, prompting Melly to write a newspaper article declaring: "If I ever catch that Mr B, Kix and Columbo, I’m going to kick their arses".
Barson co-founded a band called The Invaders in 1976. The band later changed their name to Madness after the song by Prince Buster.

Master Class is a play by Terrence McNally, with incidental music by Giuseppe Verdi, Giacomo Puccini, and Vincenzo Bellini. The play opened on Broadway in 1995, with stars Zoe Caldwell and Audra McDonald winning Tony Awards.
The opera diva Maria Callas, a glamorous, commanding, larger-than-life, caustic, and surprisingly drop-dead funny pedagogue is holding a voice master class at the Juilliard School. Alternately dismayed and impressed by the students who parade before her, she retreats into recollections about the glories of her own life and career. Included in her musings are her younger years as an ugly duckling, her fierce hatred of her rivals, the unforgiving press that savaged her early performances, her triumphs at La Scala, and her affair with Aristotle Onassis. It culminates in a monologue about sacrifice taken in the name of art.
The play originally was staged by the Philadelphia Theatre Company in March 1995, the Mark Taper Forum and the Kennedy Center.

The film begins in Camden Town, London, on a grey day in January 1976. Three friends, Lee Thompson, Chris Foreman and Mike Barson, start to play music together. Along the way their band suffers numerous arguments and changes in their line-up before finding success in the final scene, with a full piece Madness going out to a packed, screaming arena. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0199065/

Available on iTunes: http://bit.ly/1dKzkq4 In 1981, after a string of UK Top Ten hit singles and two smash hit albums, Madness took to the silver screen. While a group nicknamed The Nutty Boys might have been expected to indulge in the knockabout japes of A Hard Day's Night or Help! like The Beatles years before, Take It Or Leave It was a grittier, less glossy version of the events that led to them becoming one of Britain's most cherished bands.
