Here is my review / thoughts on the Zune HD guys. It's an excellent music player, possibly the best MP3 player out there. But because of the lack of support and Microsoft only allowing access to the Zune Marketplace in the United States, I think the Zune may in fact be dead.
Audio enthusiasts looking for an excellent quality music player will love it but anyone looking for more features should look elsewhere.

This is how I fixed my 30gb Zune (1st generation). It's not a frozen Zune like other people have experienced. It'll just restart over and over and it won't boot up. So replace the battery. I bought a replacement battery on ebay for $8. Hope this helps someone.
Edit: Before buying the new battery, I first tried unplugging the original battery for 1 minute and then plugging it back in, in the hope that it would reset the zune, but that didn't work for me. These 1st generation zunes are so old that they need new batteries after many years of recharging and discharging after regular daily use. It seems that if the battery goes bad, then it won't allow the zune to boot up.

Zune is a digital media brand owned by Microsoft which includes a line of portable media players (now discontinued), a digital media player software for Windows machines, a music subscription service known as a 'Zune Music Pass', music and video streaming for the Xbox 360 via the Zune Software, music, TV and movie sales, and the media software for Windows Phone.
In October 2011, Microsoft announced the discontinuation of all Zune hardware, encouraging users to transition to Windows Phone.
The first-generation Zune device was created by Microsoft in close cooperation with Toshiba, which took the design of the Gigabeat S and redeveloped it under the name Toshiba 1089 as registered with the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) starting in 2006.Xbox 360 overseer J Allard ran the project, codenamed "Argo," staffed with Xbox and MSN Music Store developers who worked on "Alexandria", finalized as Zune Marketplace. Both products were later united under the Zune brand name in the U.S. market.
At midnight on December 31, 2008, many first generation Zune 30 models froze. Microsoft stated that the problem was caused by the internal clock driver written by Freescale and the way the device handles a leap year. An intermediate "fix" was to drain the device's battery and then recharge after 12 noon GMT on January 1, 2009.

Here is my review / thoughts on the Zune HD guys. It's an excellent music player, possibly the best MP3 player out there. But because of the lack of support and Microsoft only allowing access to the Zune Marketplace in the United States, I think the Zune may in fact be dead. Audio enthusiasts looking for an excellent quality music player will love it but anyone looking for more features should look elsewhere. Thanks for watching guys, Rock On. -

Zune 30gb fix/solution if it won't start/boot up (not frozen)
This is how I fixed my 30gb Zune (1st generation). It's not a frozen Zune like other people have experienced. It'll just restart over and over and it won't boot up. So replace the battery. I bought a replacement battery on ebay for $8. Hope this helps someone. Edit: Before buying the new battery, I first tried unplugging the original battery for 1 minute and then plugging it back in, in the hope that it would reset the zune, but that didn't work for me. These 1st generation zunes are so old that they need new batteries after many years of recharging and discharging after regular daily use. It seems that if the battery goes bad, then it won't allow the zune to boot up. -

This is how I fixed my 30gb Zune (1st generation). It's not a frozen Zune like other people have experienced. It'll just restart over and over and it won't boot up. So replace the battery. I bought a replacement battery on ebay for $8. Hope this helps someone.
Edit: Before buying the new battery, I first tried unplugging the original battery for 1 minute and then plugging it back in, in the hope that it would reset the zune, but that didn't work for me. These 1st generation zunes are so old that they need new batteries after many years of recharging and discharging after regular daily use. It seems that if the battery goes bad, then it won't allow the zune to boot up.

Программа Zune -- это бесплатное приложение для персонального компьютера, позволяющее использовать возможности телефона с Windows Phone 7 наиболее полным образом. Она cинхронизирует данные телефона с компьютером, устанавливает обновления и многое другое.
В то же время, программа Zune -- это и центр развлечений. Скачать программу можно с сайта microsoft.com.
Интерфейс программы содержит следующие основные области:
• Quickplay,
• Коллекция,
• Магазин,
• Телефон,
• Параметры,
Количество областей может меняться. Например, при создании аудиодиска, появится область Диск.
Область Quickplay мы всегда видим первой после запуска. Она содержит три раздела: Избранное, Новинки и Журнал.
Чтобы добавить элемент в Избранное, вызовите для любого элемента контекстное меню и выберите команду Добавить в список Quickplay. Подобным же образом можно и удалить элемент из списка раздела Избранное.
Также из этого меню можно добавить элемент в список «Сейчас играет», в плейлист, для записи на диск или найти элемент в коллекции.
Для воспроизведения элемента кликните на него. Чтобы синхронизировать элемент с телефоном, включить в список для записи на диск или добавить в плейлист, перетащите элемент на значок в левом нижнем углу.
Следующая область программы -- Коллекция. Это список всех ваших файлов, разбитых на разделы: музыка, видео, изображения и подкасты. Каждый раздел также может быть представлен по-разному. Например, музыка может быть представлена в виде списка исполнителей, жанров, альбомов, песен и плейлистов.
Можно выполнить настройку списка библиотек Windows для коллекции. Для этого перейдите в Параметры и далее Программное обеспечение -- Коллекция. Для каждого типа библиотеки можно добавлять или удалять папки, содержимое которых будет отслеживаться.
