The road to Jackson Bay is likely to remain closed to the general public for another two to three weeks. Slips brought down by heavy rain about 10 days ago blocked the road and cut power to the small settlement ... Mr Goel said about 10 slips had come down ... A major slip on the only road to Jackson Bay in South Westland is causing headaches for tourist operators ... How its 120 passengers get from the ship to a planned jet-boat excursion was unclear yesterday. A North Otago man who lost his life after a jetboat crash near Haast last year died from a heart attack during emergency surgery, the coroner has ruled. Roualeyn MacDonald Munro died at Grey Base Hospital on March 8, 2014, during emergency surgery for "high energy impact injuries" suffered after a jetboat he was travelling in crashed into a rock on the Waiatoto River, south of Haast, the day before ... Driver error was the direct cause of a jet-boat crash and the subsequent injuries and death of an Otematata man last year, the coroner has ruled. Roualeyn (Ronnie) MacDonald Munro, of Otematata, died at Grey Base Hospital on March 8, 2014, during emergency surgery for ''high-energy impact injuries'' suffered after the jet-boat he was travelling in overturned after hitting a rock on the Waiatoto River, south of Haast, the previous day....

Vicky Munro is a ''bit pissed off'' that she did not get more than 39 years of marriage ... The Otematata farmer and volunteer fire fighter was jetboating on the Waiatoto River with a group of friends when they hit a rock and flipped about 7pm on Friday. The group were all wearing life jackets, but the impact threw everyone into the river, causing Munro severe injuries ... Ad Feedback ... ....

A small North Otago town is mourning the loss of a "great man" after he was fatally injured in a jet boating accident on the West Coast. Roualeyn "Ronnie" Munro", died in Greymouth Hospital on Saturday after the incident on the Waiatoto River near Haast the night before ...
